SMALL BUSINESS UNDERWRITER / CREDIT ANALYST

GENERAL FUNCTION:

The Small Business Underwriter / Credit Analyst is responsible for the and evaluation of commercial up to $1,000M originated by Business Development Officers. This individual will collaborate with the Business Development Officers on due diligence of credit requests specifically for Small Businesses credits.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for the preparation of quality detailed including cash flow models and collateral evaluations in order to identify potential credit risks. • Capable of evaluating complex financial statements or tax returns to spread and analyze in order to prepare a credit review and presentation. • Make recommendations in accordance with sound banking practices in order to minimize risk exposure. • Ensure that all requests adhere to bank policies/procedures and regulatory compliance as applicable for Small Businesses. • Effectively communicate and partner with the Business Development Officer or Senior Vice President of Retail Sales to complete the due diligence required to decision loan files. • Assist with completion of Pipeline Report and other Small Business Reports as applicable. • Completion of special projects as required by Senior Management and other additional responsibilities as requested.

EXPECTATIONS:

• Working knowledge of finance, accounting and credit analysis concepts. • Capacity to work within a fast paced and proactive environment while adding value to our clients. • Overall knowledge of commercial business and commercial real estate lending. • Overall understanding of regulations that specifically affect Small Business credits. • Capable of taking ownership of personal development/performance and ability to work independently. • Prepare loan presentations accurately and in a timely manner. • Have read, understand and know the Bank’s Lending Policy. • Some contact with customers, conducting relationships in a professional manner that will enhance the overall marketing effort of the bank. • Meet and/or exceed your goals.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• SBA Lending experience preferred but not required. • Completed Bachelor’s degree in Business, preferably Accounting or Finance • Previous Commercial or Small Business Analyst Experience within financial institution preferred • Strong qualitative analytical skills • Knowledge of personal and business tax returns in order to determine cash flow • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Knowledge of MS Suite of Products (Word, Excel, and Outlook) • Strong organizational skills • Internet Skills • Moodys Financial Analyst-Ability to spread tax returns and financial statements

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Normal office environment with little exposure to dust, noise, temperature and the like. • Requires manual dexterity sufficient enough to operate offices machines such as computers, fax machines, calculators, telephones, and other office equipment. • Extended viewing of CRT screen. • Moderate lifting up to 50 pounds. • Repetitive hand and arm movement. • May require excessive sitting, standing, bending and reaching. • Normal range of hearing and vision. • Must be able to drive/have transportation.
