Financial Analyst/Underwriter Position

Shelter Resources, Inc. (SRI) was formed in 1980 and has focused on the development of affordable rental housing for the last 35 years. We are one of the most active affordable developers in the Puget Sound Region, having completed 135 projects, and have been reasonably active in the State of Oregon as well. We carry a positive reputation with the PNW State Housing Agencies and public funders, and have a very good history with lenders and equity active in the business.

We have an office of 9 dedicated individuals situated in Bellevue, and seek additional talent in the Financial Analyst/Project realm. This position will take an active role in reviewing prospective projects, running feasibility pro formas, anticipating project strengths and weaknesses from an /lender view, looking at risk factors facing the developer-sponsor, and updating/suggesting financing plans benefiting owner returns. It will also involve working with our Dept. on existing projects to anticipate and arrange project refinancing and potential sale to 3rd parties. This person will assist developers at SRI in analyzing new development opportunities and the coordination of debt & equity for the same. As well as the monitoring of investor capital contributions, long term capital accounts, and prospective returns, set up of CPA cost certifications and auditing assistance.

As a small company we all wear a lot of hats at SRI and each of us lends a hand to others to relieve workloads when they get over taxed. So some duties outside of the described mainstream tasks for this position will often occur, such as assisting our Accounting Dept. with the construction closing and draw processes, reviewing project audits and tax returns, and investor reporting functions, as well as due diligence assembly.

We are looking for qualified candidates with the following:

 At least 3 years of experience as a Financial Analyst, preferably in multi-family Real Estate  A Bachelor’s degree in business or similar field  Low-Income Housing Affordable Tax Credit (LIHTC) experience is a significant factor  Great organizational skills  Positive communication skills  Ability to work over time when required by organization  Ability to work on multiple project situations simultaneously

 Estimated Base Salary: $75,000 to $90,000 + bonus opportunity
