Priscilla Morales, Class of 2010

Priscilla Morales, Class of 2010 University: Florida International University Major: Journalism & Mass Communications Graduation Year: 2013 Job Title: TV Network Producer Company: Communications Inc.

What does your job entail? Working for Univision means no day is the same as the next. It's a 24/7, always on-call type of profession where creativity and industry know-how is primordial. As an Entertainment and Content producer, I am in charge of our 8PM and 9PM primetime novelas("" & "Vino El Amor), our children's block every Saturday (comprised of 6 shows), our Sunday 11:00AM talk-show ("Netas Divinas") and all the special events projects that go on throughout the year, including our New Years show LIVE from Time Square and various competition reality shows. All of this means I have to travel repeatedly to cities like New York, Los Angeles, San Antonio, Chicago, Las Vegas, City and more. It also means I have to meet & work with different musical artists and actors from both American and Hispanic markets. It's a high intensity, always altering, never constant type of job, but it fills my soul in more ways than one.

Greatest Professional Accomplishment: My greatest professional accomplishment is seeing the fruits of my labor on television. Knowing that millions of people all over the nation are watching what I created, what I produced, what I poured my soul into... that is quite magical. I get to read their reactions to my work on social media and that's both heart warming and terrifying all at the same time. On 1/1/16 at 12:00AM, I stood in the middle of Time Square as the ball dropped with a LIVE show on the air. That moment, with its mixture of fireworks and confetti and adrenaline is an emotion like no other and that is why I do my job, why I continue learning and why I can't imagine doing anything else in this world.

How did Mater Lakes prepare you for your professional career? Mater Lakes prepared me for my career by simply letting me be. MLA fostered my creativity, my growth, my sense of awareness and responsibility. My teachers and mentors gave me more than a text book education, they gave me life advice and believed in... always.

What were some of the organizations you were a part of at Mater Lakes? Did you hold any leadership positions? If so, which? I was able to partake in so many leadership positions that today help me lead numerous projects in my workplace. While at MLA I was President of the District's Student Government Associations, President and Public Relations Officer of our school SGA, Vice-President of the National Honor Society and active member of the Class of 2010.

Why did you enjoy the most about being at Mater Lakes? At Mater Lakes, I enjoyed our small school atmosphere most of all. I enjoyed knowing my Principal and Assistant Principal, I enjoyed knowing the office staff, I enjoyed knowing the names of each and everyone of the persons I graduated with. I enjoyed feeling like an integral part the foundation of MLA.

What was your favorite course at Mater Lakes Academy and why? My favorite courses at MLA were Drama, AP Government and AP Literature. I think they helped lay fundamental bricks in my thinking process today.

What was your favorite experience/moment at Mater Lakes Academy? My favorite moments in Mater Lakes all center around planning and hosting award ceremonies, shows and events.

What advice do you have for current students who want to make the most of their time at Mater Lakes Academy? To the students currently at Mater Lakes, I have this to say: it pays to dream out loud, to dream big and to dream in the most exaggerated of ways because when you least expect it magical things can and do happen.
