La Discomòbil Rovellada De Blur Al Primavera Sound Cultura i Mitjans | Carles Batalla/Parc del Fòrum | Actualitzat el 25/05/2013 a les 11:12 La discomòbil rovellada de Blur al Primavera Sound El cantant de Blur, Damon Albarn, al Primavera Sound Foto: ACN Deu anys després de la seva darrera visita a Barcelona i de la seva última petjada discogràfica, Blur es presentava al Primavera Sound com una oportunitat per assegurar que el seu retorn va més enllà d'una trobada per interessos econòmics i que el seu llegat té vigència. De la primera qüestió en queda el dubte i de la segona, un trist desencís. El concert d'aquesta matinada al Fòrum a càrrec d'un dels tres puntals del britpop (juntament amb Oasis i Pulp) va reunir tots els ingredients d'un fiasco: so deplorable, descoordinació entre membres de la banda, una veu desafinada que no entrava a temps, guitarres distorsionades, sorolls eixordadors, un criteri erroni en el repertori i, sobretot, la sensació del vull i no puc, d'un passat que pren forma d'ombra allargassada. Amb uns quants quilos de més i un aspecte físic a mig camí entre un boxejador retirat i un hooligan d'un bar decrèpit de suburbi (la seva dent de plata augmentava la caricatura), Damon Albarn (ja lluny del divertimento insuls del projecte Gorillaz) va encetar la vetllada amb "Girls and boys", que va sonar com un hit passat de moda en una discoteca de la costa farcida d'estrangers a altes hores de la matinada. O com aquella discomòbil infernal que serveix d'entreteniment a un barri en una revetlla de Sant Joan. O com aquella cinta de cassette erosionada per la saturació. Molta màquina i poc sentiment. Va sorprendre tant que decidís gastar un as de la màniga com el fet que la següent cançó fos "Popscene", un tema amb prestigi i recorregut en directe però que només surt en la versió americana del segon àlbum. Damon Albarn no arribava a moltes notes i només el bateria, l'home tranquil i pare de família modèlic Dave Rowntree, s'esforçava en fer quelcom més que complir l'expedient. "Parklife" va sonar massa accelerada i a "Tender" li mancava grapa mística i més força vocal de les coristes de gospel. Hi va haver absències doloroses com "Charmless man", "Stereotypes" o "Tracy Jacks". Enmig del desert, tres miratges, "This is a low", "Trimm Trabb" i "Caramel", les dues últimes corresponents a l'infravalorada aventura psicodèlica del disc "13th" apadrinat per William Orbit. Pel que fa als bisos, el prescindible nou single, "Under the westway", "The Universal", només sostinguda per la seva èpica inherent i "Song 2", que va desfermar la bogeria d'un públic conformista a qui la devoció sovint afebleix l'esperit crític. Això sí, el karaoke massiu de la gent va servir per dissimular les carències vocals d'Albarn. La sensació era la d'una formació carismàtica del passat que ja només pot aspirar a aparèixer en una recopilació dels anys 90 que venen per Teletienda a hores intempestives. Tal i com cantava Albarn en "Caramel", 'where is the magic?'. El britpop ja no és el que era (definitivament potser, diria Oasis). Per l'excés de soroll, es podria dir que aquesta matinada Blur ha fet brutpop. Lliçó de maduresa Tres hores abans que Blur, al mateix escenari Heineken The Jesus and Mary Chain havia demostrat que vellesa pot ser sinònim de maduresa i no de decadència. A priori, van fer la mateixa aposta guanyadora que Blur, és a dir, un repàs exhaustiu dels grans èxits però en el seu cas l'execució va ser impecable i el so rodó. To compare a band or a record to Mike Leigh was to use a form of cultural shorthand that established a shared aesthetic between musician and filmmaker. Often this aesthetic similarity went undiscussed beyond a vague acknowledgement that both parties were interested in 'real life' rather than the escapist fantasies usually associated with popular entertainment. This focus on 'real life' involved exposing the ugly truth of British existence concealed behind drawing room curtains and beneath prim good manners, its 'secrets and lies' as Leigh would later title one of his films. I know this because I was there. Here's how I remember it all: Jarvis Cocker and Abigail's Party To achieve this exposure, both Leigh and the Britpop bands he influenced used a form of 'real world' observation that some critics found intrusive to the extent of voyeurism, particularly when their gaze was directed, as it so often was, at the working class. Jarvis Cocker, lead singer and lyricist of the band Pulp -exemplars, along with Suede and Blur, of Leigh-esque Britpop - described the band's biggest hit, and one of the definitive Britpop songs, 'Common People', as dealing with "a certain voyeurism on the part of the middle classes, a certain romanticism of working class culture and a desire to slum it a bit".

    CHAPTER 2 ‘From the night and the light, all festivals are golden’: The festivalization of culture in the late modernity1,2 Paula Guerra Abstract Festivals have been stated as important forms of social and cultural participation. In the twenty‐first century, all countries have been faced with a number of annual2 festivals, but also by diversifying the type of festivals, its location and its audiences. The festival model has expanded all over the world and became globalize. With this model emerged the so‐ called ‘festivalization of culture’. Portugal was no different in this phenomenon. The main purpose of this chapter is to explore the Portuguese festival dynamics. These dynamics have the function of globalization coding, marketing and culture of media coverage, mobilizing thousands of actors on the supply side, in mediation and on the demand side. There are several elements that prove this in Portugal: unprecedented evolution in the number of festivals over the past two decades; the spread of festivals around the country, especially in its Atlantic coast and in metropolitan areas; the exponential increase of the habitués; the weight of the turnover of the festivals in the statement of accounts culture and cultural industries; the importance of festivals for the launch and projection of the bands; and, above all, the design of a new way of life in an environment marked by consumptions, appropriations and embodiments of practices, associated with experience and sociability of the festival. 1 This chapter result of an intensive research carried out since 2005, anchored in three projects.
