Winterlingen is situated in the Swabian Alb, between Stuttgart and Lake Constance. The community has around 6400 inhabitants, the next town Albstadt is only 10km away. The project consists of many different tasks in Winterlingen and the nearby nature reserve. Workers of the local building yard will instruct and support the work. You will do painting works at different places, like the graveyard wall in Winterlingen, in the sports hall and in local Kindergartens. Another task will be the paving of the so called “Winkele-Wege”, small paths connecting the main roads. Besides you will do different works in the nature and green areas in and around Winterlingen. You will be accommodated in the newly renovated “Kaplaneihaus”. The house has four shared rooms (max.6 people) and three double rooms. Each room has its own bathroom. A big common room and a well-equipped kitchen are also provided. Every morning a bus shuttle will take you to your working place. Winterlingen is situated in the nature reserve “Obere Donau”, offering beautiful hiking trails and various castles to visit. The community has a good infrastructure with shopping possibilities, sports facilities and the biggest natural outdoor pool of Baden- Wurttemberg. On the weekends you can visit the university town Tubingen, Stuttgart or spend a day near Lake Constance. Ability to swim is highly recommended. It will be the 5th time that the International Street-Art-Festival takes place in Blumberg and the first time that it will be supported by an international workcamp. It is now one of the three big Festivals for Street or Pavement painters in Germany. In the last years artists from Italy, Spain, Hungary, Argentina, Venezuela, Belgium, Austria, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Russia, Ukraine and Croatia performed on the streets of Blumberg. This unique event is a nice mixture of charismatic artworks by professionals as well as amateurs, and a framework program that accompanies this family friendly festival. Another part of the project will be open-air cinema nights (16th & 17th) in the newly re- opened public swimming pool. In addition to these events, the workcamp will support the community with renovating playgrounds. You will help the organizers in all phases of the festival: building up the infrastructure beforehand, taking care of the artists during the event, helping at the entrance and help with the disassembly at the end. You will also help running the open-air cinema event that is part of the celebrations for the newly re-opened swimming pool, called “Panoramabad” In addition to working at these events, you will help the community with renovation tasks on the local playgrounds. You will live in the community building „Gemeinschaftshaus Zollhaus“, which is located in a small part of Blumberg around 3 km from the center. Toilets, a kitchen and a nice outdoor area are available. You will have free access to the „Panoramabad“, where you can use the showers. Please bring your own sleeping bags! Blumberg is located in the southern part of the Black Forrest close to Switzerland. Around 10.000 inhabitants are spread over 9 parts and villages, which all belong to Blumberg. Blumberg is famous for hikers, because it is close to the “Wutachschlucht”, a spectacular gorge and nature reserve. Another Highlight is the historic, steam powered Railway called „Sauschwaenzlebahn“. Several other touristic places are quite close, like the Rhine waterfalls in Switzerland or the Island Mainau in the lake “Bodensee”. For the past Workcamp: twenty years, they have been organizing very successful workcamps, inviting volunteers to help them with different renovation and cleaning tasks, making a movie about workcamps and organizing festivals. This year the workcamp participants will be helping out at a cultural festival in Nagold. Local clubs and associations will be participating in the festival and you will be helping them out with the preparations for music, dance and international food. On other days, you will work on various environmental tasks within the community of Nagold. The group will be staying in the youth centre. Two sleeping rooms with beds and a large kitchen are provided. Please bring a sleeping bag! Showers are available at the swimming pool nearby. The youth centre, located in the inner city of Nagold, is a meeting point for young people aged 14-20. Beside many other possibilities to spend time in the youth centre you will find rooms and equipment to play music, to dance and make videos and plenty of other things to spend your leisure time. Trips to Stuttgart and Tuebingen, hiking in the Black Forest, horse riding, swimming and playing beach volleyball are only some of the possible activities. In 2014 the community gave them the compound of a former tavern as their new club house. It is located remotely in the middle of the nature, but only a few minutes from the village centre. They have already invested hundreds of working hours into their new home, called “Foxbau”, but there is still a lot to do and they are very happy to welcome international volunteers to help them. There are a lot of projects planned on the compound: Rebuilding the path around the lake and constructing a small bridge over the creek that flows into the lake, Construction of terraces for a camping ground, Demolition of small sheds, Construction of a new storage for fire wood, Building an outdoor shower, Renovation works on one of the terraces, Painting the roof, Beautifying the garden and the building, some outdoor tasks along the small creek and maybe even building a pizza oven. You will stay directly in the “Foxbau”. There are two rooms, which can be used as sleeping rooms, with mattresses or camp beds, toilets and a shower. You can take a look here: http://www.foxbau.eu/ Grassau is a village in the Achental at the foot of the Chiemgauer Alps south of the Chiemsee, which is Bavaria’s biggest lake. It’s about 100km east of Munich and only 45km to Salzburg in Austria. Lots of leisure time opportunities present themselves, like hiking, climbing, rafting and trips to the Chiemsee with its famous islands and castle of the Bavarian King Ludwig. Specific tasks will be attending to and looking after the kids and youngsters during different activities, such as: excursions, games and campfire - a typical summer camp!     Traumatic Origins in Hart and Ringu Penny Crofts and Honni van Rijswijk Introduction Popular culture is a domain for legal thinking: a domain in which we can explore how law is ‘made up’, as Elaine Scarry says, before it is ‘made real’.1 It is productive to think of certain horror films as exercises in legal thinking because rules and authority are integral to both law and the horror genre. Accordingly, in this piece, we explore a popular horror film for what it reveals about the nature of legal authority and how the origins of law are ‘made up’. The primary focus of our analysis in this chapter is on the cult Japanese movie Ringu rather than the cult American remake,2 The Ring, that it inspired.3 The premise of Ringu is that anyone who watches a video of subliminal and abstract images is fated to die one week after the viewing. The video states: ‘If you do not wish to die, you must follow these instructions exactly…’ and then the video cuts to static. In the horror genre, monsters are subject to rules that are both the source of their horror and the means by which they can be defeated: zombies eat brains and need to be decapitated. Ringu is devoted to discovering the means of defeating a curse; the plot initially appears to obey the internal rules that attach to the monster, Sadako—but these rules are ultimately shown to be irrelevant. This paper explores the ways in which the genres of both law and horror construct and communicate stories of origins that are integral to power and authority.
