Annual Activity Report – 2011-12 SMILE Samajik Evam Sanskritik Vikas Sanstha

A group of likeminded people representing different walks of life like education, agriculture, social activism, health education and professionals got together with the objective to put their efforts together for deprived and needy people in scaling up their socio-economic status.

SMILE Samajik Evam Sanskritik Vikas Sanstha was registered with Registrar Firms & Society, , bearing registration no. C.G. State-3381 on 31st May 2011.

SMILE SESVS conducted the following programs: -

July 2011

 24th July 2011 SMILE Centre, Bagbahara. Day meal is provided to all the children as they come to centre. Drop outs and other non school going working children are taught and also encouraged and helped in getting admission to regular schools.

August 2011

 36 houses were surveyed from 12th August to 29th August 2011 at Bagbahara. Survey orientation was provided by Mr. Jeetendra Singh to Mr. Ashish and the teachers of SMILE Centre, Bagbahara. Content of the family survey form was briefed to the teachers and quarries of trainees were satisfied regarding the methodology of approaching the families for survey.

 15th August 2011. Support was extended to Go Foundation and YMCA in organizing the Blood Donation Camp at Medical College and Hospital, Raipur.

 16th August 2011. Support was extended to Mrs. Lilly Bhagirathi for Independence Day Program at District Jail, Dhamtari. All the guests were welcomed by the Jail officials. Mr. Jeetendra Singh when introduced as SMILE representative talked about the hope in life encouraged for repentance and respect others. 185 prisoners were provided refreshments along a towel. Prisoners ensured to respect the values and live a good life.

September 2011

 On 2nd September 2011 Mr. M.K. Masih and Mr. Jeetendra Singh went to Delhi for the meeting with the EFICOR, CANA and Compassion. SMILE SESVS was introduced at all three places and possibility was shared to get along in likeminded programs.

 10th September 2011 Regional Training started by worship and Praise songs led by YMCA Rajnandgaon. Mr. J.S. Lal was the chairman for the sessions. Rev. Akhilesh Edgar shared the leadership quality as Barnabas had and devoted his life towards the cause and Paul did the same. Mr. Jeetendra Singh presented Activity Report.

 Mr. J. S. Lal & Mr. Jeetendra Singh went to National General Meeting of the society at on 17th September 2011 at YMCA Visakhapatnam.

 20th -21st September 2011 Department of Women and Child Development, Health and Urban Development Departments, Government of , Raipur & Institute of Health Management Research, Jaipur, conducted a state level workshop on Promoting Effective and Efficient Convergence in Health of the Urban Poor Program in Chhattisgarh. Mr. Jeetendra Singh was invited to represent NGO sector and share his views and experience to materialize the direction for convergence. Mrs. Kiranmayee Nayak, Mayor, Municipal Corporation Raipur was the Chief Guest for this workshop.

October 2011

 08th October 2011, SMILE Centre was inaugurated at Dewar basti, Mathpurena, Raipur. Mrs. Prabha Singh, President, SMILE, encouraged all the children to come to SMILE Centre regularly for studies as the syllabus has been designed to educate along creating interest and Learning with play. She also educated parents towards cleanliness and Hygiene. She told that SMILE will also conduct programs on health and hygiene as per the need & with the help of basti people.

 21st October 2011, RTE, Mr. Gautam Bandoupadhya, member, National Child Rights Protection Commission, welcomed and introduced the content & schedule of meeting. Mr. Jeetendra Singh represented NGO sector. Mr. Lalit Surjan, member, member, National Child Rights Protection Commission shared his views. Mr. Choubey, Education, CG Government gave clarifications.

 October 2011, Anti Fire Cracker Campaign, SMILE has taken up the issue of Child Labor exploitation in Fire Cracker industry through poster campaign to create awareness. Posters were made with an appeal mentioning the situation of Child Labor in Fire Cracker Industries and pasted at the public place like bus stops, public water tanks, schools- colleges and prominent places of Raipur. Hand bills were also distributed at the public places asking them to use little less fire crackers and bit more Diyas.

 28th October 2011, Vano Bhata, an awareness program on Economic Development was demanded by the villagers of Vano Bhata a village bordering Orissa and Chhattisgarh states. Mr. Jeetendra Singh talked about the economic empowerment through SHGs; he shared about the steps of SHG formation and the values by which substance can be achieved. He also talked about the different Income Generation Programs in which he assured them that SMILE will assist them. He also shared about the marketing procedures which can be easily and effectively adopted by the villagers. Mr. Arvind Singh, Area Manager, KRIBHCO shared about Agriculture and coming up technologies.

November 2011

 13th November 2011, Santoshi Nagar, Games and Cultural program was organized. About 147 children were present from different SMILE centres. Games like Running, Frog Jump, Spoon – Ball, Needle – Thread and Chair Race was organized of different age groups.

December 2011

 1st & 2nd December 2011. On the occasion of World Aids Day, Pamphlet was printed and distributed through News paper and SMILE Centre to generate awareness regarding HIV/ AIDS. Awareness campaign was carried out at Dewar Basti, Mathpurena, Ring Road No. 1, Tatibandh, Transport Nagar, Kabeer Nagar, Hirapur, Veer Savarker Nagar, Bhanpuri, Bir Gaon, and Urla Industrial area of Raipur.

 17th & 19th December 2011, Dewar Basti, Raipur & Lalpur, Bagbahara. On 17th December Vastra Vitran was done at Dewar Basti, Mathpurena, Raipur to all the Child Labors enrolled in SMILE Center. On 19th December Vastra Vitran was carried out at SMILE Center, Lalpur, Bagbahara. Mrs. Niche Singh, Joint-Secretary, distributed clothes to all. Mr. Jeetendra Singh, Chief Functionary shared vision and activities of SMILE, he also encouraged all to show the love and concern to others by sharing the things which are extra or unusable to them but can be useful to others. 347 sets of clothes were distributed.

January 2012

 Yearly Planner 2012 was made and widely distributed to stake holders including donors, banks and prominent people of society.

February 2012

 1st February 2012, Inauguration of SMILE Centre at Santoshi Nagar, Raipur, Mr. J. S. Lal, Treasurer, SMILE, welcomed all the Child Labours. Mrs. Prabha Singh, President, SMILE, encouraged all the children to come to SMILE Centre regularly for studies and she also shared that many more activities according to their interest will be done. She told that SMILE will also conduct programs on health and hygiene as per the need & with the help of basti people.

 12th February 2012, Lalpur, Bagbahara. Bal Geevan-Swastha Suruksha Schem, 33 children were provided accidental Insurance policies at SMILE CENTER, Lalpur, Bagbahara. Jeevan didi, ward member was the chief guest; she thanked SMILE for this effort and distributed Insurance ID cards to all the children. She also mentioned the important role this centre is playing in building up values and creating positive energy around. Mrs. Nibha Singh, Joint Secretary, SMILE SESVS gave information regarding the policy in detail, She shared three provisions for claim as Rs. 50,000/- on accidental death claim, Rs.25,000/- on disability and Rs.1,000/- for OPD.

 24th to 26th February 2012, All India Sunday School Association organized a Children’s Pre-Assembly at CNI Bhawan, Delhi from 24th to 26th February 2012. More than 60 students representing different Churches. They were accompanied by Pastors and Sunday School teachers. Bishop N. Ambala, Chairman- AISSA; Rev. Dr. Ipe Joseph, General Secretary-AISSA; Rev. Emanuel, CSI-Chitoor, AP, Vice-Chairman- AISSA; Rev. Pradeep Ahale, Methodist Church, Jabalpur; Mr. George Retty & Ms. Nirjala were the organizing Team. Mr. Jeetendra Singh from SMILE SESVS was invited as animator for this pre-assembly.
