Wind Powering America FY07 Activities Summary Dear Wind Powering America Colleague, We are pleased to present the Wind Powering America FY07 Activities Summary, which reflects the accomplishments of our state Wind Working Groups, our programs at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and our partner organizations. The national WPA team remains a leading force for moving wind energy forward in the United States. At the beginning of 2007, there were more than 11,500 megawatts (MW) of wind power installed across the United States, with an additional 4,000 MW projected in both 2007 and 2008. The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) estimates that the U.S. installed capacity will exceed 16,000 MW by the end of 2007. When our partnership was launched in 2000, there were 2,500 MW of installed wind capacity in the United States. At that time, only four states had more than 100 MW of installed wind capacity. Seventeen states now have more than 100 MW installed. We anticipate five to six additional states will join the 100-MW club early in 2008, and by the end of the decade, more than 30 states will have passed the 100-MW milestone. WPA celebrates the 100-MW milestones because the first 100 megawatts are always the most difficult and lead to significant experience, recognition of the wind energy’s benefits, and expansion of the vision of a more economically and environmentally secure and sustainable future. WPA continues to work with its national, regional, and state partners to communicate the opportunities and benefits of wind energy to a diverse set of stakeholders. -

Wind power is an integral part of the UK Government’s climate change initiative; with the recognition that offshore wind power in particular has the potential to generate a significant amount of the energy needed by the UK itself in coming years. The London Array project forms part of a 7 gigawatt series of projects in the UK, which when complete will provide the energy equivalent to the needs of 7% of the UK¥. Supplying coatings to the London Array is the latest step in AkzoNobel’s experience in the offshore wind power market. The project comprises 175 turbines with a combined total capacity of 630 MW. Ørsted is the largest offshore wind developer in both the world and the UK. This includes making sure communities are connected by reliable, public transport links, to ensure people can access work, health and leisure opportunities. We make sure the road network keeps moving and responds quickly and appropriately to emergency events which threaten this, such as flooding. We work closely with partners in the Rail industry and Highways England to ensure the national rail and road network is fit for purpose for Cornwall’s communities. We also look for opportunities for innovative and efficient improvements to our transport in Cornwall while maintaining links with the rest of the UK. The FRWF consists of 420 wind turbines in four phases in Benton County, Indiana. Western EcoSystems Technology, Inc. conducted post-construction fatality studies of bats within Phases I, II and III in the fall of 2009 and 2010, when two Indiana bat carcasses were found. The FRWF worked with the US Fish and Wildlife Service and developed a Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP) for the Indiana bat, designed to minimize Indiana bat fatalities. -

COMMUNITY INVESTMENT REVIEW 2019/20 FOREWORD || CONTENTS FOREWORD 2019/20 has been an extraordinary year for SSE Renewables. We started construction on two new ground-breaking offshore wind farms – Dogger Bank, which will be the world’s largest wind farm once complete, and Seagreen, which will be Scotland’s largest. In January 2020 we greenlighted a first subsidy-free onshore wind farm in Scotland, an extension to the existing Gordonbush wind farm in Foreword 01 Funder’s Report 02 Regional Funds 06 Sutherland. Advancing these wind farms, and others in the development pipeline, are a critical part of the response to the climate emergency. Together, they will make a significant contribution to meeting the UK’s ambitious net zero carbon targets whilst making a positive economic contribution in their local areas.
