The Noto Peninsula, bordered by water on three sides, is a natural fish tank that attracts moderately fatty fish firmed by cold and warm currents. In Nanao, these fish are caught when they are the tastiest and prepared into sushi fresh and served along with the city's other specialty: the vibrant voice of the sushi chef.

Oyster The Noto oyster is a prime winter marine product of Nanao Bay. The Nanao West Bay area, around Nakajima and Tatsuruhama districts, is particularly known for the farming of Pacific oysters from as early as the Taisho period (1912–26). Thanks to the bountiful surrounding, the bay is abundant in plankton on which the oysters feel on. The Noto oysters mature quickly and are ready to be shipped in only one year.

Ipponsugi Dori Ipponsugi Dori is the straight 450-meter-long street between the Misogi Community Center and Sentai Bridge, a red railing bridge crossing the Misogi River running before Nanao Station. The 50 or so shops lining the street are mostly hipped roof townhouses, some of which are designated tangible cultural properties of Japan. Much of the street still reflects its original charm even after more than six hundred years.

Nanao Castle Site

Mountains Castle built in the Shiroyama whole area by protection, Hatakeyama of Noto that prospered for 170 years. It is Yamashiro said to be impregnable who used the steep mountaineering club skillfully, but it is fallen by Kenshin Uesugi. There is road to the mountaintop, and observation deck, hiking course overlooking city and Notojima are maintained now.

Noto Engekido serves as a base for exchanging cultural and other information widely across Japan. The dramatic cyclorama is designed to open up and reveal the scene outside the theater. SEIHAKUSAI Seihakusai is the largest festival in Noto hosted by Otokonushi Shrine, also known as the Sanno Shrine, each year in May with the signs of fresh verdure. The highlight is three dekayama floats—Japan's largest, measuring 12 meters in height and 20 tons in weight—hauled through the narrow urban streets. It is a participatory event that invites all visitors to pull the floats and be a part of the festival.

Festival

Nanao City is one of Japan's greatest festival stages. It hosts the Mukoda Fire Festival, one of Japan's three major events featuring fire and flames on the last Saturday of July; the Ishisaki Kiriko Festival, the most magnificent of Noto events for lantern dedications on the first Saturday of August; and the Okumakabuto Festival, also known as the Hatsuka Festival, which is highlighted by deep scarlet banners on September 20th.
