De este modo se amplía el número de ropalóceros presentes de forma fehaciente en La Rioja de 149 a 151. Palabras clave: Euchloe tagis, Carcharodus baeticus, Pieridae, Hesperiidae, La Rioja, España. Abstract: First reliable records of Euchloe tagis (Pieridae) and Carcharodus baeticus (Hesperiidae) (Lepidoptera, Papilionoidea and Hesperioidea) for La Rioja province (N Spain). The first reliable records of Euchloe tagis (Pieridae, Anthocharini) and Carcharodus baeticus (Hesperiidae, Pyrginae) for La Rioja province (N Spain) are provided, together with a new locality for Burgos province for the first one of them. So the number of rhopalocera reliably known in La Rioja province is increased from 149 to 151. Key words: Euchloe tagis, Carcharodus baeticus, Pieridae, Hesperiidae, La Rioja, Spain. The following articles document the initial damage assessment from coastal Alabama to Texas; the change of 217 mi2 of coastal Louisiana to water after Katrina and Rita; estuarine damage to barrier islands of the central Gulf Coast, especially Dauphin Island, Ala., and the Chandeleur Islands, La.; erosion of beaches of western Louisiana after Rita; and the damages and loss of floodplain forest of the Pearl River Basin. Aerial Rapid Assessment of Hurricane Damages to Northern Gulf Coastal Habitats By Thomas C. Michot, Christopher J. Wells, and Paul C. Chadwick Hurricane Katrina made landfall in southeast Louisiana on August 29, 2005, and Hurricane Rita made landfall in southwest Louisiana on September 24, 2005. Scientists from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) flew aerial surveys to assess damages to natural resources and to lands owned and managed by the U.S. Department of the Interior and other agencies. Flights were made on eight dates from August Introduction 27 through October 4, including one pre-Katrina, three post-Katrina, The USGS National Wetlands and four post-Rita surveys. Euchloe Ausonides Insulanus
Euchloe ausonides insulanus English name island large marble Scientific name Euchloe ausonides insulanus Family Pieridae (Whites, Marbles and Sulphurs), subfamily Anthocharinae (Marbles and Orangetips) Other English names island marble Other scientific names Euchloe ausonides ssp. 1 or undescribed subspecies Risk status BC: extirpated (SX); red-listed Canada: COSEWIC: extirpated Global: critically imperilled (G5T1) Elsewhere: Washington – critically imperilled (S1) Range/Known distribution The historical range of the island large marble is limited to southeast Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands in British Columbia and the San Juan Islands in Washington. This subspecies has only been recorded at Gabriola Island, Nanaimo, the Greater Victoria area and the San Juan Islands. It was likely never very common. The last recorded specimen in British Columbia was from Gabriola Island in 1908 and the island large marble is now considered extirpated from British Columbia and Canada. The island large marble was thought to be extinct until two populations were discovered on San Juan Island, Washington in 1997. The island large marble, a subspecies of the large marble, has pronounced expansion of the ventral marbling and this marbling is frequently hairy and covered with yellow scales. -

It has a large natural dune system and a long stretch of natural beach composed of fine- to medium-grained sand. During the summer, the park is so popular that the parking lot can fill with cars by mid-morning. A Conservation Agreement and Strategy for the Island Marble Butterfly (Euchloe ausonides insulanus Guppy & Shepard) Final Between the San Juan Island National Historical Park, National Park Service And the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service October 31, 2006 Prepared with the assistance of Robert Michael Pyle, Ph.D. Objective The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) and the National Park Service (NPS) enter into this agreement for the purpose(s) of helping ensure the long-term continued existence of the Island Marble butterfly and contributing to its recovery. This agreement lays out general guidelines for a broad spectrum of activities at American Camp, including management and restoration of the grassland ecosystem there as a natural component of the cultural/historic landscape. American Camp is one of two administrative units of San Juan Island National Historical Park (SAJH) and as such, is part of a National Historic Landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. These guidelines and conservation measures will be consistent with the goal of conserving the Island Marble butterfly and minimizing potential negative effects to the Island Marble from National Park Service activities. This agreement is 1 based on our best understanding of this taxon's biology to date, and on our experience with previous management efforts. The activities considered in this agreement encompass management actions that will modify the grassland ecosystem, as well as certain routine or recurring activities that have potential to affect the butterfly. -
