Abstract: First reliable records of Euchloe tagis (Pieridae) and Carcharodus baeticus (Hesperiidae) (Lepidoptera, Papilionoidea and Hesperioidea) for La Rioja province (N Spain). The first reliable records of Euchloe tagis (Pieridae, Anthocharini) and Carcharodus baeticus (Hesperiidae, Pyrginae) for La Rioja province (N Spain) are provided, together with a new locality for Burgos province for the first one of them. So the number of rhopalocera reliably known in La Rioja province is increased from 149 to 151. Key words: Euchloe tagis, Carcharodus baeticus, Pieridae, Hesperiidae, La Rioja, Spain. APPENDIX A: COMMON AND SCIENTIFIC NAMES FOR FISH AND WILDLIFE SPECIES FOUND IN IDAHO. How to Read the Lists. Within these lists, species are listed phylogenetically by class. In cases where phylogeny is incompletely understood, taxonomic units are arranged alphabetically. Listed below are definitions for interpreting NatureServe conservation status ranks (GRanks and SRanks). These ranks reflect an assessment of the condition of the species rangewide (GRank) and statewide (SRank). Rangewide ranks are assigned by NatureServe and statewide ranks are assigned by the Idaho Conservation Data Center. GX or SX Presumed extinct or extirpated: not located despite intensive searches and virtually no likelihood of rediscovery. GH or SH Possibly extinct or extirpated (historical): historically occurred, but may be rediscovered. Its presence may not have been verified in the past 20–40 years. A species could become SH without such a 20–40 year delay if the only known occurrences in the state were destroyed or if it had been extensively and unsuccessfully looked for. The SH rank is reserved for species for which some effort has been made to relocate occurrences, rather than simply using this status for all elements not known from verified extant occurrences. G1 or S1 Critically imperiled: at high risk because of extreme rarity (often 5 or fewer occurrences), rapidly declining numbers, or other factors that make it particularly vulnerable to rangewide extinction or extirpation. G2 or S2 Imperiled: at risk because of restricted range, few populations (often 20 or fewer), rapidly declining numbers, or other factors that make it vulnerable to rangewide extinction or extirpation. This subspecies has only been recorded at Gabriola Island, Nanaimo, the Greater Victoria area and the San Juan Islands. It was likely never very common. The last recorded specimen in British Columbia was from Gabriola Island in 1908 and the island large marble is now considered extirpated from British Columbia and Canada. The island large marble was thought to be extinct until two populations were discovered on San Juan Island, Washington in 1997. A Conservation Agreement and Strategy for the Island Marble Butterfly (Euchloe ausonides insulanus Guppy & Shepard) Final Between the San Juan Island National Historical Park, National Park Service And the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service October 31, 2006 Prepared with the assistance of Robert Michael Pyle, Ph.D. Objective The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) and the National Park Service (NPS) enter into this agreement for the purpose(s) of helping ensure the long-term continued existence of the Island Marble butterfly and contributing to its recovery. This agreement lays out general guidelines for a broad spectrum of activities at American Camp, including management and restoration of the grassland ecosystem there as a natural component of the cultural/historic landscape. American Camp is one of two administrative units of San Juan Island National Historical Park (SAJH) and as such, is part of a National Historic Landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. These guidelines and conservation measures will be consistent with the goal of conserving the Island Marble butterfly and minimizing potential negative effects to the Island Marble from National Park Service activities. This agreement is 1 based on our best understanding of this taxon's biology to date, and on our experience with previous management efforts. The activities considered in this agreement encompass management actions that will modify the grassland ecosystem, as well as certain routine or recurring activities that have potential to affect the butterfly. -

Type and Quality of Available Information to Date: Important information gaps: o Demographic information, including: fecundity, survival, sex ratio, population size, population structure, population dynamics, and genetic diversity. o Behavioral information, including: dispersal distance, dispersal capacity, factors driving larval host plant selection and oviposition site, and pupation site selection. o Optimal resource needs and habitat structure, including: size, quantity, and quality of host plant(s) required to support an individual from egg through pupation, and capacity to complete life cycle on other mustards, including Turritis glabra (tower mustard). o Methods for establishing, expanding, and maintaining habitats for suitable host plant species. o Captive propagation methods, including matching the release of captive-reared individuals with the emergence of the wild-flying population and optimal phenological stage of host plants. -
