Nácvičný Test – Monitor 9 Nácvičný test – Monitor 9 Ukážka č. 1 (1. – 10. Inteligentné popové skladby, podmanivý hlas a hudobná atmosféra rokov 80-tych im okamžite získali obrovské množstvo fanúšikov. Vo verejnosti zarezonoval až druhý singel Wonderful Life, ale s o to väčším úspechom. Jimmy Raney Thesis: Blurring the Barlines By: Zachary Streeter A Thesis submitted to the Graduate School-Newark Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey In partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Jazz History and Research Graduate Program in Arts written under the direction of Dr. Lewis Porter and Dr. Henry Martin And approved by Newark, New Jersey May 2016 ©2016 Zachary Streeter ALL RIGHT RESERVED ABSTRACT Jimmy Raney Thesis: Blurring the Barlines By: Zach Streeter Thesis Director: Dr. Lewis Porter Despite the institutionalization of jazz music, and the large output of academic activity surrounding the music’s history, one is hard pressed to discover any information on the late jazz guitarist Jimmy Raney or the legacy Jimmy Raney left on the instrument. Guitar, often times, in the history of jazz has been regulated to the role of the rhythm section, if the guitar is involved at all. While the scope of the guitar throughout the history of jazz is not the subject matter of this thesis, the aim is to present, or bring to light Jimmy Raney, a jazz guitarist who I believe, while not the first, may have been among the first to pioneer and challenge these conventions. I have researched Jimmy Raney’s background, and interviewed two people who knew Jimmy Raney: his son, Jon Raney, and record producer Don Schlitten. These two individuals provide a beneficial contrast as one knew Jimmy Raney quite personally, and the other knew Jimmy Raney from a business perspective, creating a greater frame of reference when attempting to piece together Jimmy Raney.

MORBID STRAINS IN VICTORIAN LITERATURE FROM 1850 TO THE FIN DE SIÈCLE By Elizabeth Meadows Dissertation Submitted to the Faculty of the Graduate School of Vanderbilt University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY in English August, 2010 Nashville, Tennessee Approved: Professor Carolyn Dever Professor Jay Clayton Professor Paul Young Professor James Epstein ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS This dissertation would not have been possible without the unstinting support and encouragement of my professional and personal community here at Vanderbilt. Thanks go first to Carolyn Dever and Jay Clayton, co-chairs of my committee. Carolyn’s perceptive questions have pushed my thinking at every stage of this project, and her support has been invaluable throughout my graduate career. Jay Clayton’s generous and honest critique of my writing has made me a better scholar as well as a better writer. I thank them both for the hours they have spent thinking through the complexities of Victorian morbidity with me. Both Paul Young and Jim Epstein have given me valuable insights into my own work, and I thank them for encouraging me to see my project from outside my own literary field and academic discipline. My research was made possible by a grant from the College of Arts and Science; by the Robert Manson Myers Graduate Award in English; and by a graduate fellowship from Vanderbilt University’s Robert Penn Warren Center for the Humanities. In addition to thanking the institutions that have supported my work, I have to thank the individuals who made that support even more valuable.

  • This Lucid New Translation of the Writings of Richard Methley Offers an Intoxicating, Not to Say Spiritually Inebriated, Account of His Search for Union with God
“This lucid new translation of the writings of Richard Methley offers an intoxicating, not to say spiritually inebriated, account of his search for union with God. An assiduous reader and translator of earlier contemplative texts, he blends together the languor of Richard Rolle, the apophatic austerity of the Cloud-author, the theological intensity of Heinrich Suso and the devotio moderna, and the liquefying ardour of Marguerite Porete. The resulting synthesis produces a new, urgently prophetic voice of meltingly eloquent spiritual longing existing in transcendent tension with the structures of his daily life as a Carthusian.” —Vincent Gillespie J.R.R. Tolkien Professor of English University of Oxford “This book makes available in modern English one of the most significant contributions to the contemplative tradition of fifteenth- century England. By fusing in such a sophisticated way the apophatic and the cataphatic approaches to the contemplative life as part of his experience, Methley’s writings challenge our contemporary desire for categorization and division. The excellent translations by Barbara Newman bring to light the daily mystical experiences and the pastoral concerns of a Carthusian monk following a strict monastic life. Her notes and the outstanding general introduction by Laura Saetveit Miles provide a wealth of information about the rich religious tradition from which Methley’s corpus emerged.” —Denis Renevey Professor of Medieval English Language and Literature University of Lausanne “Newman and Miles have set the table for an affective mystical feast! Laden with elaborate metaphor and devout hyperbole, the works of Richard Methley translated here offer an extraordinarily intimate perspective on late-medieval Carthusian mysticism in England.” —Steven Rozenski University of Rochester, New York “Barbara Newman’s translation of Richard Methley’s original Latin and Middle English works brings this important but little-known mystical writer to wider attention.

Following some essential foundations for understanding the nature of the eternal, the various New Testament texts will be examined with careful attention to Jesus first, followed by the writings of Paul, John, Peter, and remaining New Testament writers. The information obtained from these texts will then be compared to the various views which are available to test and determine their validity. Then final observations and summation of the data will be offered.

And it seems to be a part of their faith, often a central part of their faith, that a certain number of people are simply going to go to hell, and we know who these people are. N.T. • Hurts Happiness Album Download Free Happiness
hurts happiness album download free Happiness. Whereas the likes of La Roux, Ladyhawke, and Little Boots have found both commercial and critical success with their retro brand of '80s synth pop, their male counterparts have struggled to connect with audiences in the same way. Frankmusik's online buzz failed to translate into record sales while Dan Black and Ali Love's careers stuttered before they really started. However, Manchester duo Theo Hutchcraft and Adam Anderson, aka Hurts, could well be the act to buck the trend. With influences stretching far beyond the usual Depeche Mode and Pet Shop Boys, their debut album, Happiness, has reference points that also appear to include the gothic balladry of Sisters of Mercy ("Evelyn"), the polished electro of a-ha ("Better Than Love"), and even the glossy new wave of Johnny Hates Jazz ("Blood, Tears and Gold"). But what on paper could have been nothing more than a derivative homage turns out to be one of the most consistently inventive pop albums of the year. Opening track "Silver Lining" begins with robotic processed beats and ends in a gloriously overblown wave of Gregorian chanting, "Sunday" is an anthemic slice of Hi-NRG string-soaked Europop occupying the space between Coldplay and Cascada, and "Stay" is a dramatic gospel-fused love song that highlights Hutchcraft's delicate but powerful vocals. Best of all is breakthrough track "Wonderful Life," a heart-wrenching tale of bitter optimism set against a backdrop of clattering rhythms, shimmering atmospheric synths, and one of the signature sounds of the '80s, the saxophone solo.

  • The Fire of Love
The Fire of Love Author(s): Rolle, Richard (1290-1349) Misyn, Richard (Translator) Publisher: Methuen & Co. Ltd., London Description: Heralded as one of the great English mystics of the Middle Ages, Richard Rolle©s religious adventures have been vener- ated since the 14th century. In the Fire of Love, Rolle de- scribes his divine encounters by dividing the nature of the experience into three unique stages. Rolle describes the first stage as the sensation of spiritual fire, a glowing presence accompanied by a feeling of physical warmth in his chest. Rolle says that the second stage is marked by an overwhelm- ing sense of peace and joy, a taste of sweetness in his soul. Finally, Rolle explains how in the third stage the glorious song of angels resounds, signifying his union with God©s di- vine love. Rolle©s artistic re-telling of his encounters enlightens us to the powerful religious experiences of Christian mystics during the medieval period. • Thou'lt Find Him, in the Evil Days
…of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.” Psalm 19:7 Verse Of The Month “My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.” I John 3:18 Vol. X February, 2019 No. 2 LEAVE GOD TO ORDER Leave God to order all thy ways, And hope in Him whate’er betide; Thou’lt find Him, in the evil days, Thine all-sufficient Strength and Guide. Who trusts in God’s unchanging love Builds on the Rock that naught can move! Only thy restless heart keep still, And wait in cheerful hope, content To take whate’er His gracious will, His all-discerning love hath sent, Nor doubt our inmost wants are known To Him who chose us for His own. He knows when joyful hours are best, He sends them as He sees it meet, When thou hast borne the fiery test, And now art freed from all deceit, He comes to thee all unaware, And makes thee own His loving care. Sing, pray and swerve not from His ways But do thine own part faithfully. Trust His rich promises of grace, So shall they be fulfilled in thee. God never yet forsook at need The soul that trusted Him indeed.
