Co-hosted by Tibet House Sacramento and Jewel Heart Tibetan Buddhist Learning Center Kyabje Gelek Rimpoche will often say he is happy to share what little he knows in order to “help ease our pain, relax our anxieties, reduce our anger and attachment, and build a little wisdom.” With that in mind, we are delighted to bring to you this great master known for his compassionate wisdom and endearing wit. Don’t be surprised to find yourself returning home with treasures for further reflection as well as tips to put to immediate use in your everyday world and relationships! The evening will begin at 6:30pm with a performance by the Creative Connections Arts Academy Choir as well as chanting of the Heart Sutra accompanied by the Veena. Rimpoche’s talk will begin around 7pm. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Born in Lhasa, Tibet in 1939, Kyabje Gelek Rimpoche was recognized as an incarnate lama at the age of four. Among the last generation of lamas educated in Drepung Monastery before the Communist Chinese invasion of Tibet, Gelek Rimpoche was forced to flee to India in 1959. Following the direction of his teachers, the Junior and Senior Tutors of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Rimpoche has been teaching westerners since the late 1970’s and now is teacher to countless friends around the globe. Founding Jewel Heart Tibetan Buddhist Learning Center in 1988, Jewel Heart centers can be found in the U.S., Malaysia, the Netherlands and Singapore. Rimpoche’s Collected Works now include over 40 transcripts of his teachings, numerous articles and the national best seller, Good Life, Good Death and The Tara Box: Rituals for Protection and Healing from the Female Buddha.
