The great strength of college is its ability to realize that learning is always infused with the experience of awareness, insight and friendliness to self and others. We navigate a course that ensures organizing curricular and co-curricular activities in a manner that enables medical graduates to reach the harbour with the desired goals.

We understand that true measure of an educational institute is not just to gain academic excellence but also to nurture creativity, individuality and leadership in the students while striving for quality in teaching and learning. 25 LEARNING STRATEGIES Education is the transformation of a fledgling into a lifelong seeker of knowledge; it is the instillation of such a love of learning that inspires the seeker to explore new avenues way beyond the ones stipulated by the coaches. Wah Medical College in the truest of spirits is dedicated to infuse this love of learning in its students. Our greatest concern is not what we 'teach' but what our student gets to 'learn'. We aim to train proficient doctors whose medical acumen and knowledge combined with expertise in clinical skills makes the arduous tasks of solving clinical community problems, seem like a breeze

The College Curriculum is based on the SPICES Model of educational strategies where we intend to impart Change is the end medical knowledge through a continuum of approaches: student centered, problem based, integrated, community oriented, evidence based and systematic. Our curriculum is evolved taking into consideration result of traditional, experiential, behavioral and constructivist perspectives of curricula all true learning The curriculum is organized and integrated along horizontal and vertical dimensions. The content taught is integrated concurrently in themed horizontal organization and vertically across the years of Medical Education. Our students learn medical knowledge in a holistic integrated manner; thus allowing them to gain expertise in clinical skills alongside the acquisition of medical knowledge.

Our educational strategy is based upon the curriculum of studies of MBBS, as laid down by the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council, University of health sciences Lahore and the National University of Medical Sciences, Rawalpindi. Learning Methods: Problem Based Learning (PBL) Interactive Lectures Case Based Learning (CBL) Skill based learning / Practical Dissection Small Group Teaching Self Directed Learning Seminars Evidence based Medicine (EBM) Directed Self Learning Field Visits Research Projects Assignments Tutorials Case Studies Audio visual aids Poster Presentations

26 Lectures Academic lectures though modified for active learning still form the corner stone of studies are held in the state of the art lecture theaters. Not only are the lecture theaters spacious and air conditioned but are well equipped with latest audiovisual aids like multimedia, overhead projectors and video presenters. Learning is facilitated by the seasoned faculty members who provide the students with a roadmap to knowledge tailored to learning objectives along with identifying practical relevance and the latest trends in the subject. Students learn through a variety of audiovisual aids and are encouraged to actively participate in reflecting and developing understanding of the topic through interaction. In order to enhance relevance and students' interest, learning strategies such as case-based learning and small group problem solving sessions are also effectively utilized.

Tutorials / Group Based Learning

Active student involvement as well as self regulation of learning is fundamental to develop lifelong learners. For this purpose, students are provided with a variety of platforms to enhance their learning and consolidate concepts. Presentations by students, interactive sessions and peer discussion are the modalities employed to promote students contribution to learning as well as encouraging students to interact and learn from their peers

27 Hands On Training

Inert knowledge that is not utilized or put into practice has no role in the field of medicine. For this reason, practical and hands on training sessions are incorporated from the very early years in order knowing is not to develop relevance and reinforce the concepts developed in teaching sessions. Laboratory work enough; we must forms a critical part of training in the subjects of Physiology, Biochemistry, Histology, Pharmacology apply! and Pathology. Experiential learning not only adds to students' interest but leads to greater retention of concepts to be applied in practical life. Dissection Hall in Anatomy is one such avenue that allows the students to learn the gross anatomical structures through direct observation thus endowing students with a sound basis of knowledge to be utilized in their practice of Surgery. The Power Lab in Physiology as well as Cyber Anatomy in the dissection hall are custom built, fulfilling the needs of contemporary medical training.

28 Clinical Teaching Theoretical and practical knowledge is supplemented by clinical case presentations to provide students with clinical exposure in the pre clinical and clinical classes. Seminars Wah Medical College regularly organizes seminars where groups of students present topics of general interest before a larger audience. This widens their scope of learning and supports their knowledge with research. Self Directed Learning A true learner is one who is endowed with the ability to direct, regulate, monitor and assess his own learning. Keeping with the spirit of developing lifelong learners, Wah Medical College endeavors to provide students with ample opportunities to tailor learning to their own individual needs and interests and to become responsible for their own learning. Students are encouraged to broaden their scope of reading and research in their areas of interest in order to develop sound knowledge and concept base.

29 Community Oriented Learning A doctor cannot be regarded as a true professional if he is not cognizant of the needs of the community and does not contribute to raising the health standard of the local community. Under the cap of Community-Oriented Education Programs, students and the faculty of WMC actively serve the general community while at the same time this develops a sense of community ownership in the students. Our students are active participants in carrying out community based research. Moreover they are encouraged to participate in the preventive and curative care of patients in Primary Health Care settings. The students take part in the campaign against Polio & participate in the surveillance being carried out regarding School Health Service. Every student of 3rd year MBBS conducts a House hold survey individually. Since inception students have been taking part in a vast campaign for creating awareness about emerging and prevalent health problems as well as their control. Information Technology (IT) Information Technology forms the core of any institution and Wah Medical College also recognizes its importance in the field of education. Currently there are two state of the art computer labs that facilitate students with internet access and provide up to date hardware and a variety of software to maximize E-learning. It also includes networked PCs linked to a wide range of software and print services. The IT Section of the institution is providing high speed Internet facility over Optical Fiber via LAN, WAN and WIFI networks to all the departments and computer labs.
