Logan explains to her that the two of them were made to be weapons , made to kill, and that killing is easy, but fighting against the urge to do so is not, and that he is not disappointed in her. When Laura wakes up, fully healed, she talks to someone through an earpiece who suggests that the shooter is probably still in the tower. As she gets up, she takes off her coat, puts on her mask, and pops out her claws, fully revealing herself to the surrounding bystanders. In the tower, Wolverine fights the masked shooter , who tells Laura that she of all people should be helping her. Wolverine breaks the shooter's arm, but she does not show any sign of pain. As a large group of armed policemen arrive, the shooter seems to tell an accomplice over an earpiece that their target is in his car and calls in a drone. The shooter gets herself ready to jump off the tower, telling Laura that no one will ever stop or hurt them again. Wolverine jumps off as well and is picked up mid-air by Angel , who turns out to be the person whom she was talking to previously. Warren then drops her onto the drone, which she brings to a downfall before it finish the assassination attempt. After Wolverine has some time to heal, she and Angel go to investigate the shooter's body. As Laura takes the shooter's mask off, she finds, as she expected, her own face. When the police tell them to stay where they are, Angel instead flies them to safety, as Wolverine tells him that there are more out there whom she hast to save and stop. Two days after the events in Paris Wolverine arrives at Alchemax Genetics in New York where she is greeted by Captain Mooney who cuts her with a scalpel to see if her healing factor is working properly. She is then introduced to the company's director Robert Chandler , father to the man she saved from the assassin in Paris. He explains to her the danger his experiments, The Sisters , pose, as they are responsible for the death of multiple of Alchemax's scientists and Captain Mooney's security staff by having burned down one of their buildings. They are in fact clones of Laura with a few significant differences - they possess neither a healing factor, nor claws and - according to director Chandler - no humanity or conscience. The clones were made and trained to protect diplomats and humanitarian organizations but then seemed to turn against Alchemax. Wolverine promises to find them and stop them from killing innocents. She is then literally picked up by Warren and brought to her apartment in the Bronx , where one of the clones awaits her. The clone explains that they want to kill her and her sisters and that she was the one to leave a note to Laura about the planned assassination in Paris. She asks for help before she runs away while Wolverine is distracted by a fire the clone set in her apartment. The clone, whose name is Gabby , goes back to her sisters, Zelda , and Bellona , in their hide-out in the sewers. Wolverine arrives at the scene shortly after Gabby to talk to her clones. They claim to never have killed any of the innocents who died working for Alchemax but they are soon interrupted by the arrival of Captain Mooney and his soldiers. He thanks Wolverine for leading him to the clones and goes on to ignore her words and orders his soldiers to shoot the experiments. Laura and her clones are able to defeat all their opponents, yet the sisters appear to be shot down by Taskmaster , who has now arrived. After Wolverine fights and knocks out Taskmaster , The Sisters get up alive and well, as their body armor protected them from his bullets. While Laura and Bellona argue over when it is okay to kill somebody, Zelda shoots Taskmaster's legs. The sisters lead Laura to their humvee getaway car and start driving, but are soon found, followed, and shot at. Wolverine then realizes that Captain Mooney must have put a tracker inside her and she cuts it out of her. She then tells the clones to runaway and hide as she leaps out the car and deals with their attackers. After defeating him, she explains to Captain Mooney that the sisters are under her protection for now while he claims them to be Alchemax 's property. Wolverine is successful in finding the sisters once more and they explain that the experiments performed on them are also slowly killing them. Laura wants to help them, but since she figures Alchemax has an eye on almost any scientist she knows who could be of assistance, she takes the clones to someone who cannot be watched without his knowledge - Doctor Strange. He pulls Laura aside, asking if she is sure that they deserve her protection and salvation after the bad things they have done. She asks him to have a look at her using the eye as well. He is both impressed and scared by how she is capable of controlling and channeling her rage and states that she is the right person to replace her father. Laura argues that she is not a replacement and has yet to figure out what she actually is doing. Their conversation is interrupted as Bellona decided to shoot a cupboard because it was winking at her. Doctor Strange explains that she broke a seal and that the cupboard is a doorway to horrors as a giant monster escapes from it. The Doctor tells Laura and her clones to take care of it while he is busy closing the doorway once more. They defeat the monster, but Zelda is seriously injured in the process. Doctor Strange teleports the group to New York Hospital where he examines her. Zelda explains to Laura that originally there were ten clones, some of them died in the field during Alchemax Genetics demonstrations, while others died uninjured in their cell. Doctor Strange explains to Laura that Zelda seems to be dying due to nanite technology in her brain, which is too small for him to operate on. He does however decide to teleport Wolverine and the sisters to Pym Laboratories, where Laura plans to steal Ant-Man's Suit to become small enough to fight the nanites. As Wolverine and her clones attempt to steal an Ant-Man suit, they are conrfonted by Wasp. The situation is explained and Janet agrees to shrink down with Laura to destroy the nanites inside Zelda 's body. Meanwhile Captain Mooney is fired from his position at Alchemax for being indiscreet. Mooney is then informed by two scientists, who do not know that he was fired, that the destruction of the nanites activates a tracker that leads them to the clones and he goes off on his own. Originally known by the code name X, the character was first introduced in , in the season 3 episode of the X-Men Evolution animated television series, X23 , and was established as a female clone of Wolverine created by an evil scientific organisation. In her in X-Men Evolution , X took out every single X-Man and went toe-to-toe with Wolverine himself, only stopping when he broke through to her emotionally. This was a surprisingly dark episode for kids cartoon, but the fun appeal of a young female Wolverine and her sheer badassary quickly made Laura a fan favourite character, and her transference in the comic universe was quickly established. These days most people would recognise the character from her amazing appearance in the film Logan , played by young actor Dafne Keen, which showed a slightly altered version of her origin story. She was later introduced to the X-Men in Uncanny X-Men , with her origin story fleshed out in two limited series. The first of these series, Innocence Lost , looked at her creation, early life, training and missions as part of the institute that created her, as well as the relationship she had with her mother and their attempts to escape the institute. This second short series also shows how she ends up in New York in NYX and her first interactions with Wolverine, and is framed as a retelling of her life story to and Daredevil. Both of these series are extremely well written and serve as an excellent introduction to the character. She was a major character in Volume 3 of X-Force and appeared in key roles in several of the larger X-Men storylines. Following The Death of Wolverine , Laura was involved in some of the following storylines dealing with his death before taking up the role of Wolverine herself. This series was created by Australian author Tom Taylor and a rotating roster of Marvel authors. Taylor has a range of writing experience in a number of different formats, including theatre, musicals, books and television, and has also created an animated series, The Deep. The original art style and new character design for the series was developed by veteran artist David Lopez, and the other artists closely replicated his style. The first volume of the All-New Wolverine , The Four Sisters , sees Laura newly in the role of Wolverine and keen to honour the name by becoming a non-lethal hero. In this volume, she encounters four clones of herself that are being hunted by the sinister corporation who created them. In order to save them, Laura must work with several other Marvel heroes, such as Dr Strange, Wasp and her boyfriend, Angel the young one transported from a past timeline. The volume ends with Laura taking in one of the surviving clones, the young girl Gabby, who becomes one of the main characters in the series. This book is a fantastic introduction to this new incarnation of the character, and it sets the tone for the rest of the issues. While the first two issues are both fun significant, the main storyline of this volume ties into the Civil War II crossover event. After engineering the massacre of a small town with Wolverine present, Kimura forces Laura and Gabby into hiding as part of a terrible plan to control Laura once again. Enemy of the State II is strongly connected to both of the original X series, especially Target X , and represents a massive turning point for the character. Volume 4, Immune , takes Wolverine up into the stars for an intergalactic adventure. When an alien ship crash lands on Roosevelt Island, the dying alien child piloting it has time to whispers one name: Laura Kinney. Within minutes, the island is infected with a fast-acting alien virus and is immediately quarantined. Laura travels to the island and must work with Gabby, Ironheart, Logan, Daken and to cure the disease. Laura, Gabby and Jonathan than travel into space with the Guardians of the Galaxy in order to trace the origins of the alien virus, but they find a far more dangerous threat on the planet they visit. This serves as a fantastic example of a really well-done one-off intergalactic adventure for a terrestrial based series and proves to be very entertaining. It is probably the most laugh-out-loud funny volume in the series, with some remarkable interactions with characters such as Deadpool and the Guardians of the Galaxy. The fifth volume of this series, Orphans of X , goes deeper into the mythology of Wolverine, as the only weapon that had the power to kill him, the Murumasa Blade, is recovered and unleashed upon his children. A mysterious organisation known as the Orphans of X is hunting down and killing all of the Marvel mutants with claws and a healing factor. Laura, Gabby and Daken must find a way to defend themselves from these devastating and well-coordinated attacks, but find themselves conflicted once they find out the truth behind the Orphans of X. This is another heavy and emotional volume with a great story premise behind it. The final volume, Old Woman Laura , contains an interesting mixture of stories. The first issue features Gabby and Deadpool teaming up to take down the scientific laboratory that Jonathan was rescued from in Volume 2. The final story is set far in the future and sees an older Laura and Gabby go on their final mission together in order rescue their long-lost sister, Bellona, from a dystopian landscape ruled by Dr Doom. These are some intriguing and diverse stories, and it serves as a good wrap-up to the entire series.

I don't see how anyone could think of another sentient being as their property even if they were created in a lab, but it's probably something humans will probably have to deal with in our lifetime. I love that even though this is a pretty dark story, Taylor still finds time for humor and quirky characters. David Lopez's art is always solid. I hope he sticks around for more than just this story arc. View all 8 comments. Centered on corporate clones trying to take down their evil masters, the plot is rather heavy on action and a bit on the generic side. The pacing is crisp, the dialogue often funny: "What? This is a solid initial effort, with Laura trying to help a pack of Laura clones figure out why they were made and how to get vengeance on their creators, who have cruelly mistreated them I know, I know—the Marvel U needs more clone stories about as much as a vegan needs a pair of meat shoes, but just go with it. Is it the greatest Wolverine story ever told? By no means. Is it the worst? Does calling Laura Wolverine instead of X make her an inherently more interesting character? Writer Tom Taylor keeps up a steady stream of fairly entertaining action throughout from Laura sky-diving onto a drone over Paris to leaping between tanks during a car chase to fighting a squad of soldiers with her clone sisters. The characters in general are similarly quite shallowly written. Laura and her two sisters are archetypical tough girls while everyone else is whatever their role is - mad scientist, macho military man, etc. Gabby is the only standout as the cute little sister who has some great chemistry with Laura, like Robin to her Batman. Also, like in his DC series Injustice: Gods Among Us, Tom Taylor throws in the occasional comedy curveball that works for being unexpectedly silly - the Angel patting Laura on the head scene made me laugh. Despite a confusing ending unless you recognise that character , All-New Wolverine is a decent read with some solid art from David Lopez. Mar 27, Terence rated it really liked it. Laura Kinney X was cloned from Wolverine in order to make the perfect army of killers. With Logan's help she escaped that life. After Logan's death, Laura has decided to take on his mantle as Wolverine. Something devious is happening now. Laura learns that a science team has cloned her in hopes to fulfill the dream of an invincible army. The sisters, as they are referred to, have escaped a facility and the head of the facility wants them back. Four Sisters was a good but unspectacular first arc Laura Kinney X was cloned from Wolverine in order to make the perfect army of killers. I thought the first issue was outstanding, but I quickly found myself bogged down by the cloning story. It seemed insane that the science team that created clones from Laura's DNA would be dumb enough to involve her, but they did. The character interactions are absolutely what helped me hold on to hope when the cloning story dragged. The sisters themselves were an odd bunch as they each developed varying personalities although they were raised in the same fashion. Their interactions were interesting although I wasn't overly interested in them as characters. The next major interaction was between Angel and Laura. Their continuing relationship is intriguing to witness. Angel doesn't want Laura to get hurt, but she is recklessly using her healing power to it's fullest. The best relationship may have been Laura and her clone Gabby. Despite being trained to kill, Gabby has retained her innocence and she speaks to Laura like she's her pesky little sister. I didn't love the story, but I imagine her arcs will be exciting in the future. I know how Marvel is trying to empower feminism by blurting out important female characters and Wolverine X is just one of them. X can never replace Logan, but she's not a bad character at all. Needs a ton of development, but this is the first graphic novel I've read about her so there is room for improvement. This graphic novel focuses on the four sisters who are clones of Wolverine. The plot of this first volume isn't as interesting as I expected, but I deemed it as an introductory volume for the series. I'm really hoping that things would improve along the way. The artwork is commendable. I have a few Marvel series that I hate because of the artwork, but thankfully this one didn't disappoint. This story was practically non-stop action, and the storyline was well-written with some good surprises. The cameos of others from the Marvel Universe fit the story instead of it being like some kind of advertisement to read other Marvel titles. X kicks some serious butt, she's enormously lethal, but she respects life. She doesn't kill unnecessarily, and flashbacks show her with her father and why her ethos is what it is including her extremely tragic backstory. I'm glad that this story shows X as a character who has to deal with that tightrope of knowing when to kill or not. The plot is highly related to X's origins and its excellent pathos integral to the plot. I would recommend this book to fans of X aka Lara Kinney, or fans of Wolverine. If you watched the movie "Logan", this sort of ties into the storyline pretty smoothly. Overall rating: 4. Nov 29, Scott rated it liked it. I'm Laura Kinney. I'm X AND I'm Wolverine. She 3. Although, if I caught up on everything he's ever written, I think i'd still enjoy All-New Wolverine afterwards. The Four Sisters is an excellent start to the series and perhaps more importantly, one that's left me eager for more. Much of that is due to Taylor, who has a real knack for writing stories that feel fun and light-hearted, without sacrificing any intensity or drama. The Four Sisters is no different, immediately propelling Damn, it's been way too long since i've read a Tom Taylor comic. The Four Sisters is no different, immediately propelling new Wolverine, Laura Kinney up my list of favourite characters. Confident, capable and completely badass, she also has vulnerabilites and flaws that make her relatable. Of course, comics aren't created by writers alone and All-New Wolverine is no slouch when it comes to the artists, either. David's Lopez and Navarrot have a nice, clean style and excel with movement and action scenes. While their facial expressions aren't always perfect, they nail the story beats and key moments. Nathan Fairbairn's colours round things off nicely and it's always a treat to read a full trade with no fill-in artists. For me, The Four Sisters was a great read from start to finish.
