In his second season (2008), Hansson helped guide the Rebels to the SEC West title, the SEC Tournament Cham- pionship, the NCAA Elite Eight and a final national ranking of No. 6. Hansson helped coach four Rebels to All-America honors and five players to All-SEC honors. He coached Erling Tveit and Jonas Berg, who advanced to the NCAA Doubles Championship Final as well as Semifinalists Bram ten Berge and Matthias Wellermann. In his first season with the Rebels (2007), Hansson helped guide the team to the SEC West title, the NCAA Sweet Sixteen and a final national ranking of No. 7. He helped coach three players to All-America honors and four to All-SEC accolades. Hansson, a native of Bjärred, Sweden, was an assistant coach at Texas Tech in 2004-05, where he helped lead the Red Raiders to the NCAA Final 16 and their best season ever. The team finished with a 25-4 record, and was ranked as high as No. 9 in the country at one point during the year. Prior to his stint at Texas Tech, Hansson played professionally on the ATP Tour in Europe, North and Central America and Asia. One of the top collegiate players during his career at SMU, Hansson earned All-America honors in singles and TOBY HANSSON doubles. As captain of the team in 2000, he was named the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year and first team all-conference for both singles and doubles. Also, they became the second doubles team in Rebel tennis history to earn a bid to the NCAA Championships, advancing to the third round. In additon, Trevino earned All-SEC honors in doubles and was named to the All- SEC Academic team three years. In 1992, Trevino was the only player in the conference to be named to the All-SEC and Academic All-SEC teams. While playing for the Rebels, Trevino earned a Bachelor’s Degree in business and a Masters Degree in business administration. Nik Scholtz became the fifth player in program history to earn All-America honors three years. Scholtz enjoyed an outstanding year in 2014, becoming the fourth Rebel to be named SEC Player of the Year and the first to be named SEC Freshman and Player of the Year in his career. He finished the year ranked No. 14 in singles, marking the third con- secutive year to finish inside the top 20 in singles. Scholtz was named to the All-SEC first team for the third straight year and earned the No. 1 ranking in the ITA Southern Region. He helped lead the Rebels to their 21st consecutive NCAA appearance ad- vance to the second round. Scholtz advanced to the round of 16 in singles at the NCAA Championships for the third time and finished the year with an overall record of 27-7, 15-1 at No. 1 singles. He posted a 9-1 record in the SEC. In 2013, Scholtz earned All-America honors in both singles and doubles. He was one of just nine players to earn the honor in both singles and doubles, ending the year ranked No. 17 in the nation in singles and No. 4 in doubles. Scholtz was one of only six players in the nation to finish ranked top 20 in singles and top 10 in doubles. He helped lead the Rebels to a final national ranking of No. 10, their 20th consecutive NCAA appearance and 10th SEC West title, while earning All-SEC first team honors for the second year in a row. In addition, Britton became the first American-born player to win the NCAA singles title since 2000. He is also the first freshman since 1996 to win the national title and first non-seeded player since 1997. He is the youngest of the three all- time freshmen to win the singles title which includes 19-year-old John McEnroe of Stanford in 1978. A member of the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame, the Mississippi Tennis Hall of Fame, Chadwick was inducted into the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Hall of Fame in 2014 upon announcing his retirement at the end of the 2014 season.
