  • The Military Industrial Complex in a Developing Country: Lessons from the Republic of Turkey
JURNAL HUBUNGAN INTERNASIONAL https://doi.org/10.18196/hi.91162 VOL. 9, NO. 1 (2020): April-September 2020 The Military Industrial Complex In a Developing Country: Lessons from the Republic of Turkey Tresno Wicaksono President Center for International Studies (PRECIS), President University, Bekasi, Indonesia [email protected] Anak Agung Banyu Perwita School of International Relations, President University, Bekasi, Indonesia [email protected] Submitted: 24 September 2019; Revised: 04 April 2020; Accepted: 22 July 2020 Abstrak Turki merupakan contoh negara berkembang yang memperhatikan perkembangan industri pertahanannya.

The Turkish Naval Forces have previously received TCG Heybeliada, TCG Büyükada and TCG Burgazada which were developed as part of the MİLGEM project, showcasing the innovation of the Turkish defense industry. This project was launched in 2004 by the Istanbul Naval Shipyard Command and aims to develop warships using local resources to improve national naval warship building capacity, to reduce dependence on foreign military hardware technology. The MİLGEM project’s national Ada-class corvettes have anti-submarine warfare capability and are the latest technological advancement of Turkish defense industry.
