Dec 05, Annice22 rated it really liked it Shelves: action , adventure , comics , sci-fi , comics-single-print-issues. The group disbands in issue 0 September , and reforms in issue 13 with Kyle Rayner, Arkillo and new members Carol Ferris and Atrocitus. Overall, I have to say "meh" for this new direction, and that's even without considering how problematic this volume is because of the fact that it doesn't bother to tell a coherent story. This was also a soft introduction to Kyle. This book is Kyle Rayner's book and it has that sort of Star Trek kind of feel. Kyle Rayner is the only being in the universe to survive passing through the Source Wall, the bizarre barrier at the end of space. Lists with This Book. Do they even understand Kyle as a character? Kyle and the group arrive at Okaara where they are greeted by Sayd. Kyle Rayner and the others lol. I am not much of a Green Lantern fan. They defeat Invictus by relocating his ship while he is fighting them on Vega, depriving him of his power source. After sensing the explosion of Sinestro's Power Battery, the dead attack again and as they overwhelm the two, Kyle is able to channel the powers of green and blue energy and dispatch them. Kyle is able to harness the yellow light of fear when he admits that he is always scared and transforms into a Yellow Lantern. Papa Johns? I am not however a fan of the Kyle and Carol relationship. Green Lantern: New Guardians Volume 4 Writer The idea of White Lantern Kyle Rainer taking the Guardians on a 'Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy' tour to hopefully get them to see what's out there and that they need to take a different tack to dealing with the universe. Saint Walker calms them down by giving Arkillo his tongue back and was going to give Bleez sanity but she flew away. Comics Manga. What might be worth the battle, though, would be to take the Creative Team to task for their horribly misogynistic depiction of the female characters, who are only allowed to pose, stand, and be framed in R-rated poses, stances, and frames. Kyle is skeptical about his ability to combine all the colors of the Emotional Spectrum but Carol believes that he can save Hal with it. As he does, Kyle has mastered all seven colors of the emotional spectrum and transforms into a White Lantern, destroying the Third Army on Zamaron and causing Ganthet to flee. But I really enjoyed the other stories in this volume. Green Lantern : The New Guardians. Let's talk the positives first, all the stuff with 'Lights Out' I enjoyed, the world building aspect of that I really enjoyed caused Absolutely terrible. I feel knocked sideways. Kyle tells Ganthet that he has been like a father to him but from now on he will forge his own future. What does a strange alien autopsy have to do with Hector Hammond? In Sector , Kyle and Carol find the remains of the planet Korugar. Why there are all these different Corps based on different competing emotions is not addressed - I have no idea if that was ever addressed in the last 70 years of DC history - nor does it make sense, but that just adds to the frivolity of the ride. It's kind of annoying, and I see it happening all across the Green Lantern franchise lately. Hal tries to fight them, but Parallax takes Flash as a host. Cool idea. I did enjoy this, but am mostly weirded out by the fact that two very significant events seem almost glossed over. Glommy isn't a huge part of the story, but he steals the show later in the book and becomes the one character I look forward to seeing more of in the future. There's nothing truly awful about this title, but there's nothing really compelling about it either. There allegiances switch roughly four times in this story! Almost as embarrassing as the depiction of the female characters, we have a stereotypical "I'm an avenging angel gone bad" destroyer of worlds who needs to be talked out of genocide. Start a Wiki. However, it appears that a new rage entity has since been born from the excess rage left on Earth from the war with Atrocitus. More for completists than new Green Lantern fans. The passage taken from The Book of the Black at the end of Blackest Night 3 states that rage will be the second emotion to fall in the Black Lantern Corps' crusade against the colored lights. November — May The artistry and the writing is still awesome; however, almost halfway through it the storyline just immediately took a right turn and changed to years after a certain section. Beautifully drawn and passionately written, this book is a must-have for not just Lantern fans, but any fan of comics. The Butcher was eventually freed from Krona's control after Hal Jordan defeated and killed the rogue Guardian.

The figure of the “metahuman,” the human with superpowers and purpose, embodies the transfigured nerd whose defects—intellect, swarm-behavior, abnormality, flux, and love of machines—become virtues of survival in the twenty-first century. The conflict among capitalism, fascism, and communism, which drove the Cold War and its immediate aftermath, also drove the Golden and Silver Ages of Comics. In the era of planetary emergency, these forces reconfigure themselves as different versions of world-destruction. The metahuman also signifies going “beyond” these economic and political systems into orders that preserve democracy without destroying the biosphere. Therefore, the styles of metahuman figuration represent an appeal to tradition and a technique of transformation. I call these strategies the iconic style and metamorphic style. The iconic style, more typical of DC Comics, makes the hero an icon of virtue, and metahuman powers manifest as visible signs: the “S” of Superman, the tiara and golden lasso of Wonder Woman.

This planet you're on, is a living planet who traps dangerous aliens and provides them with care. You were drawn in by accident really as your arrival was misinterpreted as a hostile force, however you'll find your brother lantern, Blue Lantern Saint Walker, here as well. Mogo has complete control over its bio dome, and as an apology Mogo will do anything in its power to help. Red Listening to a sermon of Rage onboard, the Shard. The Shard is the only piece of Atrocitus' home world which was destroyed by the Manhunters. Here he has built a religion around the incident and intends to wipe off the Guardians of the Universe from the cosmos in revenge.
