His original compositions are standards in the repertoire of these ensembles as well as frequently performed selections by many orchestras and bands throughout the world. For over thirty years, Richard Hayman served as the chief arranger for THE MUSIC OF HENRY MANCINI the Boston Pops Orchestra during Arthur Fiedler’s tenure, providing special arrangements for dozens of their hit albums and famous singles. Under John Williams’ direction, the orchestra continues to programme his award- winning arrangements and orchestrations. Though more involved with the symphony orchestra circuit, Richard Moon River • The Pink Panther • Charade Hayman served as musical director and/or master of ceremonies for the tour shows of many popular entertainers: Kenny Rogers, Johnny Cash, Olivia Newton-John, Tom Jones, Englebert Humperdinck, The Carpenters, The The Days of Wine and Roses • Beaver Valley ’37 Osmonds, Al Hirt, Andy Williams and many others. Richard Hayman and His Orchestra recorded 23 albums and 27 hit singles for Mercury Records, for which he and many others served as musical director for twelve years. Dozens of his original compositions have been recorded by various artists all over the world. He has also arranged and conducted recordings for more than 50 stars of the motion Richard Hayman and His Orchestra picture, stage, radio and television worlds, and has also scored Broadway shows and numerous motion pictures.

On the opening G string, the solo uring his short life of 38 years, violin becomes the fundament of this delicate Mendelssohn dominated the passage.     PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DATE: 21 November 2014 Visionary Sounds: Jaap Van Zweden’s Prokofiev Symphony no. 5 and Zimmermann’s Sibelius Violin Concerto (12 & 13 Dec) [21 November 2014, Hong Kong] Jaap van Zweden, Music Director of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (HK Phil) returns to the stage of the HK Phil with one of the world’s great violinists, Frank Peter Zimmermann, in Sibelius’ Violin Concerto on 12 and 13 December 2014 in the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall. “With his gorgeously ripe tone, easy swagger and intoxicating range of colour, Zimmermann is every inch the master.” --- Gramophone on Zimmermann’s recording of Sibelius’ Violin Concerto Jean Sibelius dreamt of being a star violinist, but a combination of injuries and simply starting on the instrument too late ruled out the possibility. But he used his knowledge of the instrument to compose his Violin Concerto, a work which is both dreamlike and fiendishly difficult, making supreme demands on the soloist. It is the most recorded 20th-century concerto, and Frank Peter Zimmermann is arguably its greatest living interpreter. Alongside the Concerto’s idyllic soundscape, Jaap van Zweden will conduct the triumphant Fifth Symphony by Sergei Prokofiev. Intended to inspire the Soviet people as the Second World War drew to its close, the symphony’s first performance began as victory cannons were fired in Moscow. Prokofiev declared that in the Symphony he was attempting to “sing the praises of the free and happy man – his strength, his generosity and the purity of his soul”. Instrumentarium: Violin Concerto No.1: Stradivarius: ‘Lady Inchiquin 1711’ Violin Concerto No.2: Stradivarius: ‘ex Rodewalt 1713’ 2 Violin Concerto No.1 in A minor, Op.77 Both in the musical and thematic conception of its individual movements and also because of its delayed première, Dmitri Shostakovich’s First Violin Concerto speaks volumes about the lack of creative freedom endured by Soviet composers in the Stalin era. Initially Shostakovich composed the piece with no prospect of an actual performance: in 1948, when he finished it, he had just been placed – for the second time – on a black list because his music was perceived as too modernist, manifesting formalistic distortions, and alien to the people.
