INDIAN RAILWAYS SCHEDULE OF DIMENSIONS 1676mm Gauge (BG) REVISED, 2004 SCHEDULE OF DIMENSIONS-1676mm, GAUGE SHEDULE OF DIMENSIONS-1676MM GAUGE Schedule of Dimensions for Indian Railways, 1676mm Gauge Dear Sir/Dear Sirs, With their circular letter No. 735-W. of 1922, the Railway Board issued a Schedule of Maximum, Minimum and Recommended Dimensions to be observed on all 1676mm gauge Railways in India. In that Schedule, certain dimensions of the previous schedule of the year 1913 were modified with the object of permitting the use of enlarged rolling stock. 2. The Schedule of Dimensions of 1922 contained two distinct sections, namely, a schedule of "Maximum and Minimum Dimensions" which was considered to enable the proposed larger vehicles to run with about the same degree of safety as that which was previously obtained on the older Railways with existing stock, and a schedule of "Recommended Dimensions" intended to provide approximately the same clearances from fixed structures for the future larger vehicles as the 1913 schedule gave for existing vehicles. 3. In their circular letter No. 232-Tech.dated the 8th February, 1926, the Railway Board gave instructions that the Recommended Dimensions given in the 1922 Schedule were to be observed on important Railways in all new works and alterations to existing works. These orders were modified in letter No. 232-Tech. of the 26th April, 1926, which allowed a relaxation in the case of certain recommended dimensions, the adoption of which would involve heavy expenditure in remodeling works. 4. In 1929, it was found desirable further to amend the Schedule of 1922 in order to introduce certain improve- ments in the light of experience gained since it was issued, and to provide the clearances required by electric traction equipment on lines which were likely to be electrified in the future. -

There are several safety concerns associated with operating passenger and freight trains on shared-use rail corridors (SRC). Adjacent track accident (ATA) is one of the most important concerns. ATA mainly refers to a train accident scenario where a derailed equipment intrudes adjacent tracks, causing operation disturbance and potential subsequent train collisions on the adjacent tracks. Other ATA scenarios include collisions between trains on adjacent tracks (raking), turnouts and railroad crossings. -

If the instructions and advice given in this book are carefully followed your Sentinel Locomotive will not fail to give good and faithful service and will no doubt earn the affection of its operators and all those concerned with it, as all good machines should. The object of this book is to help all those connected with the locomotive to give it the best possible treatment so that the locomotive may also give its best in return. In order to give operators full advantage of new developments in the locomotive itself or in repair technique or modifications, we propose to send out Service Bulletins from time to time so that everyone may be fully informed of developments. You are cordially invited to write to us if you experience any difficulties in following any of the instructions given in this book or if you require any additional information on subjects not covered. On receipt of your queries we will fully reply to your questions and if it is of general topical interest we will send out a Service Bulletin on the subject raised. By this method we hope to form a fraternity of Sentinel operators. We have kept the size of this book to reasonable proportions so that it can be carried readily in the pocket. In order to achieve this we have not reproduced detailed drawings for each section as this would increase the size of the book considerably. -

FOM1 315 315.1 Supplemental Annuity Background 315.1.1 General In 1966 the Railroad Retirement Board (RRB) began paying supplemental annuities, in addition to regular age and service annuities, to railroad employees who met certain criteria. At that time, eligibility for the supplemental annuity was limited to those employees who were age 65 or older with 25 or more years of railroad service and who were first awarded regular retirement annuities after June 30, 1966. The Railroad Retirement Act of 1974 (RRA) extended supplemental annuity eligibility to those employees who were age 60 or older with 30 or more years of service and who were first awarded regular age and service annuities after June 30, 1974. The 1981 Amendments to the RRA began phasing out the supplemental annuity by adding the requirement that the employee must have at least one month of creditable railroad service before October 1, 1981 to be eligible for the supplemental annuity. Therefore, a supplemental annuity is not payable to an employee who does not have at least one month of service before October 1, 1981, even if they meet all other age and service requirements. 315.1.2 Earliest Supplemental Annuity Eligibility Dates Under 1937 and 1974 Acts A. Earliest Eligibility Dates The date an age and service annuity or disability annuity is awarded is the voucher date of the award, i.e., the date the award is processed for payment. Beginning in 1966, the employee’s age and service annuity had to be vouchered after June 1966 for them to be eligible for a supplemental annuity at age 65 with at least 25 years of service. -

Each of the four 7ft 6in rods weighs around two hundredweight and after forging, extensive machining and heat treatment, the four cost around £22,000 to manufacture. These rods are vital components within the £150,000 valve gear and motion assemblies, which are now the focus of work on Tornado at the Trust’s Darlington Locomotive Works. The Trust has also started work on the fitting of the rest of the outside motion. The bushes for the connecting rods are currently being machined at Ian Howitt Ltd, Wakefield and one side of the locomotive has now been fitted with a mock-up of parts of its valve gear. This is to enable accurate measurements to be taken to set the length of the eccentric rod as the traditional method of heating the rod to stretch/shrink it used when the original Peppercorn A1s were built in 1948/9 is no longer recommended as it can affect the rod’s metallurgical properties. -

FRA assigned the petition Docket Number FRA-2015-0019. Pursuant to 49 CFR 213.113(a), NS requests a waiver from the accepted practice of stop/start rail testing to start a pilot test process for nonstop continuous testing. The projected starting date for implementing the test process would be May 1, 2015, for a period of 3 years. The test process will commence initially on the main tracks of the Dearborn Division Chicago Line (Cleveland, OH, to Chicago, IL, Milepost (MP) CD 181.2–523.3).
