Job Shadows Students 03/10/2017 KAAL-TV hosted two college students at the station: One student, from St. Olaf, 2017 - spent a day with Reporters and Anchors. The other student, from Western Kentucky 05/15/2017 University, spent a day with the station's Meteorologists.

Both students were interested in learning more about careers in broadcast journalism. Midwest John Murray, 03/31/2017 Managers from KAAL-TV and Hubbard Broadcasting, Inc. participated in the Midwest Journalism Executive Director - Journalism Conference Career Fair in Bloomington, MN. They met with participants, Conference 03/31/2017 provided information on what it is like to work in the industry, and encouraged them to Career Fair apply for internships and open positions. KAAL-TV representatives spoke with soon-to-graduate Career Fair students about employment opportunities at KAAL-TV and in the television broadcasting industry. The attendees could sign up for a student training experience/job shadow opportunity as KAAL-TV. Current job postings were also available to the students so they could see the job descriptions of the positions available at KAAL-TV. Career Sam Gil, 11/14/2017 KAAL-TV's Business Manager and Marketing Outreach Specialist attended the Career Exploration Workforce - Exploration Fair and STEM Summit. They met with students from area schools to Fair and STEM Development & 11/14/2017 discuss education requirements for work in television broadcasting and the different Summit Education career choices including news reporter, meteorologist, director, producer, engineer, and sales executive.
