1 - Please Can You Provide a Breakdown for A) Leeds and B) All Leeds Wards on Total Crime and Breakdown by Sub Groups E.G 1 - Please can you provide a breakdown for a) Leeds and b) all Leeds wards on total crime and breakdown by sub groups e.g. Robbery personal and business etc. For each year going back to 2010 to current full year. 2 - a breakdown of total knife and gun crime in each local authority and by ward for each financial year going back to 2010. Can the data be presented in the same format as log 4164/16. 3 - for knife crime a breakdown for Leeds and Bradford that shows a breakdown e.g. Attempted murder, robbery, serious injury etc. Can this be provided for the last 5 years including the most recent? Please see the attached document. It is important to note that these figures do not solely refer to knives. They also cover articles with a blade or point. This can include a piece of broken glass or bottle and also includes offences where threats are made to use a knife but no knife is actually seen. West Yorkshire Police takes a victim led approach to crime recording and we have made some good improvements as to how crime is recorded which is reflected in the consistent numbers across the 3 year period The number of people aged under 18 reported to be in possession of articles with a blade or point, or a knife has increased. Since this increase West Yorkshire Police have placed dedicated Safer Schools Officers who work in partnership with secondary schools across the county. As part of their role, Safer Schools Officers speak to young people about the dangers of carrying a knife and the potential consequences. The Force has also recently supported a national campaign around knife crime, which included enforcement activities such as weapon sweeps, test purchase operations and educational visits. West Yorkshire Police are committed to prosecuting anyone found to be possessing or using a knife or firearm. The work of our partners and community based projects is important, as is the vigilance of families who believe one of their relatives may carry weapons. Tackling it requires everyone to work together through a variety of approaches, from school inputs and awareness campaigns, to weapons surrenders which are always successful in taking weapons out of circulation, to actively targeting offenders. counting rules for Burglary changed in April 2017 - Burglary - residential changed to include all buildings within the boundary of a dwelling (e.g. sheds) - Burglary dwelling (pre April 2017) did not include these, therefore figures are not comparable to Burglary - residential These figures may be subject to further investigation, reclassification and cancelling and will therefore change over time     Leeds City Council Standards Committee Annual Report 2009 – 2010 Introduction The Local Government Act 2000 requires councils to set up a standards committee. Standards committees have a proactive role in creating an ethical framework which governs the relationship between high standards of conduct and transparency and openness in decision making. As a result of the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007 and the Standards Committee (England) Regulations 2008, the role of the Standards Committee also includes the local assessment of complaints made under the Member Code of Conduct. This is the Committee’s fifth Annual Report and it presents a summary of its work during the 2009-10 municipal year. The Committee’s Annual Return to Standards for England is appended to the report. This report supports the corporate governance arrangements of the Council by promoting good conduct and cascading information. Our Ambition “To help develop and maintain a climate of mutual trust and respect in which Members, officers and partners work effectively together to deliver the Council’s strategic and operational priorities and where the public can be assured that this is done in an honest, objective and accountable way.” 2 Foreword from the Chair Leeds City Council was announced as winner of the Standards and Ethics category at the Local Government Chronicle Awards 2010. The judging panel was impressed by the Leeds approach to ethical governance within the authority, and its commitment to promoting and maintaining high standards of Member conduct. It analyses how policy and practice has developed, and articulates the need for an alternative approach. It draws from the social model as applied in the fields of disability and mental health, to begin to sketch out more hopeful and progressive possibilities for children, families and communities. The social model specifically draws attention to the economic, environmental and cultural barriers faced by people with differing levels of (dis)ability, but has not been used to think about ‘child protection’, an area of work in England that is dominated by a focus on risk and risk aversion. This area has paid limited attention to the barriers to ensuring children and young people are cared for safely within families and communities, and the social determinants of much of the harms they experience have not been recognised because of the focus on individualised risk factors. key words child protection • risk • parenting • social model Introduction In this article we argue that it is time to question a child protection project that colludes with a view that the greatest threats to children’s safety and wellbeing are posed by their parents or carers’ intentional negligence or abuse.

    Our ref: 2387/21 Figures for incidents of drink spiking in your region over the last 5 years (year by year) I would appreciate it if the figures can be broken down to the nearest city/town. Can you also tell me the number of prosecutions there have been for the above offences and how many of those resulted in a conviction? Please see the attached document. West Yorkshire Police receive reports of crimes that have occurred following a victim having their drink spiked, crimes such as rape, sexual assault, violence with or without injury and theft. West Yorkshire Police take all offences seriously and will ensure that all reports are investigated. Specifically for victims of rape and serious sexual offences, depending on when the offence occurred, they would be offered an examination at our Sexual Assault Referral Centre, where forensic samples, including a blood sample for toxicology can be taken, with the victim’s consent, if within the timeframes and guidance from the Faculty for Forensic and Legal Medicine. West Yorkshire Police work with support agencies to ensure that all victims of crime are offered support through the criminal justice process, including specialist support such as from Independent Sexual Violence Advisors.
