3:30 pm This Is Brazil! - Rio de Janeiro, Recife, Porto Alegre & Manaus - It’s time for one of the biggest events on the Brazilian calendar: Carnival! Fernanda begins at the official Carnival parade, which is actually a very serious competition held at the Sambadrome, a purpose-built arena. Up early the next day, she travels to the north eastern city of Recife for a unique street celebration featuring huge, colourful puppets. Heading south to the port city of Porto Alegre, the cultural contrast is huge. The city is home to Brazilian cowboys, known as Gau´chos, who are responsible for the famous Brazilian barbecue and a special tea that comes in wooden gourds. He joins the Polar Bear Alert team as they transport a captured bear by helicopter to a release site outside town. In the Inuit town of Arviat, Evans works with wildlife officers to test an aerial drone early warning system, a military grade ultra-loud speaker to deter bears, and a controversial experiment to place meat out on the tundra to keep bears away from town. 9:30 pm Death Row - Douglas Feldmann - On 24 August 1998, Douglas Feldman, then 40, was driving his Harley-Davidson in Plano when an 18-wheel truck passed him and suddenly pulled into his lane. Feldman then took out a 9mm pistol and fired several shots at the driver, killing him. Half an hour later, he drove into a gas station and shot another truck driver. Investigators could not establish a motive for the slayings. At his trial, Feldman testified that the first truck came so close that he feared for his life and became angry.
