Supplemental Music Resource
SUPPLEMENTAL MUSIC RESOURCE Copyright 2014 by JustFaith Ministries • www.justfaith.org • 502-429-0865 YOUNG ADULT/COLLEGE Introduction “I think music in itself is healing. It's an explosive expression of humanity. It's something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we're from, everyone loves music.” Billy Joel Music is a powerful medium used to stir our senses and awaken us to deeper reality. The poetry of words coupled with the emotion of melody often proves to be a helpful resource for people of prayer. The Psalms of David, African-American spirituals, Taize music, all can reveal God’s movement in our lives and speak to our hearts. In the following pages, you will find five suggested songs for each J-Walking session that can be used alongside the resource CD Songs for JusticeWalkers by Bryan Sirchio. These songs may be used during the appointed time for music as transitional music, for welcoming people into the session, or to play while participants journal. Different Types of Music Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob. Psalm 81:1 The following music is diverse both in style and popularity. This sampling aims to mirror attitudes and outlooks from the Christian tradition. Some of the music is contemplative and meditative like the first chapter of Genesis; some is heavy and heartbroken like the 23rd Psalm. Some seethes with prophetic anger, demanding social change like Jeremiah’s volleys against Jehoakim. A few musical offerings sing a grateful and joyful melody like Mary’s Canticle. -
PRESSEMITTEILUNG 20.09.2016 David Gray Im Dezember Für Zwei
FKP Scorpio Konzertproduktionen GmbH Große Elbstr. 277 a ∙ 22767 Hamburg Tel. The Best Of“-Album heraus. -

Bit scary and I would say a number of you may have to go through beginner lessons again and also wear name tags lol. On the 9th of May the national association had their AGM with a number of clubs from throughout New Zealand that were involved. First time ever we had to run the meeting through zoom so talking to 40 odd people from around the country was quite weird but it worked. A number of remits were discussed and voted on with a collection of changes mostly good but a few I didn’t agree with but you all can see it all on the association website if you are interested in looking . Also senior and junior nationals were voted on where they should be hosted and that is also advertised on their website. Juniors next year will be in Porirua and Seniors will be in Wanganui. -

Additionally, for Taylor’s 19th studio album, American Standard, the veteran guitarist and singer chose to take on a smattering of classic Americana tunes, including “My Blue Heaven”, “You’ve Got To Be Carefully Taught”, “Sit Down, You’re Rocking The Boat”, “Pennies From Heaven”, and more. James Taylor will take on the Great American Songbook on the singer’s upcoming album American Standard, due out February 28th. The LP is Taylor’s first since 2015’s Before This World and 19th overall. “I’ve always had songs I grew up with that I remember really well, that 1 / 2 James Taylor & Jackson Browne - Aug 27, 2021 were part of the family record collection — and I had a sense of how to approach, so it was a natural to put American Standard together,” Taylor said in a statement. “I know most of these songs from the original cast recordings of the famous Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals, including My Fair Lady, Oklahoma, Carousel, Showboat and others.” Taylor also unveiled the first single from American Standard, a take on the Gene De Paul-Sammy Chan jazz classic “Teach Me Tonight,” previously popularized by Dinah Washington and Frank Sinatra. -

Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol
CHASING CARS BY SNOW PATROL What is the meaning of this song, and its lyrics for me? Well, I think that there is something special in the way that word's from a song can inspire me. It may not be the reason the song lyrics were intended to be interpreted, but they hold special meaning to me. You know that way, when you hear the music and you stop, the memories still vivid in your mind, whether they are happy or sad, the use of words or melody carrying you away to that special place. In the case of Chasing cars, I could say that the first time that I heard Chasing cars was in the school, at that time I didn't know which was the translation of the song because I wasn't interest in English. However, when I heard it, I felt many things at the same time; one of those things was inspired by the tone of voice of the Snow patrol’s vocalist Gary Lightbody. "Chasing Cars" is the second single from Snow Patrol's When I heard this song in the voice of Gary, I recognized a fourth album, Eyes Open. It story behind, maybe a love story or even an advice given to was recorded in 2005 and him by someone or perhaps a special moment for him to released on 6 June 2006 in the US and 24 July 2006 in remember. But how a singer can transmit so different the UK as the album's second meanings just in simple lyrics of a song? ingle Sincerely, I don't know, but songs like Chasing cars with rhythms of Alternative rock, folk rock, power pop and a little bit of Britpop were so popular during the end of 90's and early 2000 due to its sound, its social context, and its regional roots were innovative for its time; Many of those popular songs in 2000 had similar characteristics with Snow Patrol’ Song, some of them are ''Dani California'' by Red Hot Chilli Papers, ''Lips of an angel'' by Hinder and some other bands like Nickelback, Breaking Benjamin and Goo Goo Dolls. -

An understanding of the core principles of cross-over songs and their relevance in contemporary culture is essential for Christian songwriters. Six albums marked by spiritual overtones or undertones, representing a broad spectrum of contemporary cross-over music, were examined. Selected songs were critiqued by analyzing the album of origin, lyrical content, author’s expressed worldview, and level of commercial success. Renaissance art also provided a historical parallel to modern day songwriting. Recommendations were developed for Christian songwriters to craft songs with greater effectiveness to impact the culture while adhering to a biblical worldview. CHRISTIAN CROSS-OVER SONGWRITING 4 A Survey of Christian Cross-Over Songwriting An exploration of Christian cross-over music can provide an objective framework for evaluating songs and developing guidelines for Christian songwriters so they can enhance their effectiveness in communicating with their audiences. -
Sparrow Records Discography
Sparrow Discography by Mike Callahan, David Edwards & Patrice Eyries © 2018 by Mike Callahan Sparrow Records Discography Sparrow is a Contemporary Christian label founded in 1976 by Billy Ray Hearn. Hearn was the A&R Director for Word Records’ Myrrh label, founded a few years earlier also as a Contemporary Christian label. Sparrow also released records under their Birdwing subsidiary. Hearn’s Sparrow label was in competition with Hearn’s old boss, Word Records, and was quite successful. Even today, Sparrow is among the top Christian labels. Hearn sold the label to EMI in 1992, and it was placed under the Capitol Christian Music Group. Sparrow signed a distribution agreement with MCA in April, 1981 to release their product in the secular market while the regular Sparrow issues were distributed to Christian stores and Christian radio stations. The arrangement with MCA lasted until October, 1986, when Sparrow switched distribution to Capitol. Christian Rock Eine Betrachtung Unter Kulturästhetischen Und
JOHANN WOLFGANG GOETHE UNIVERSITÄT FRANKFURT AM MAIN Fachbereich Sprach- und Kulturwissenschaften Die Arbeit wird im Rahmen des Studiengangs Musikwissenschaft vorgelegt zur Erlangung des Magister Artium. Christian Rock Eine Betrachtung unter kulturästhetischen und musikalischen Aspekten vorgelegt von: Tobias Rux aus: Zwickau (Geburtsort) 1. Gutachter/in: Prof. Dr. Linda Maria Koldau 2.
