What It Takes To Measure Multi-Service Readiness

Ixia’s PerfectStorm family of load modules delivers the industry's highest performance and most scalable application traffic generation to validate the readiness of next-generation multiservice delivery and security platforms. PerfectStorm load modules, in conjunction with the IxLoad application, are designed to address the testing challenges of these application-aware devices and multi-service delivery networks. PerfectStorm load modules leverage the newest-generation multi-core processors and hardware encryption coprocessors to deliver real application traffic at line-rate 10G and 40G speeds. The PerfectStorm variants are available in 8-port 10GE SFP+ and 2-port 40GE QSFP+ configurations. The PerfectStorm platform modularly- scales with user needs, supporting up to 12 load modules per XGS12-HS chassis.

PerfectStorm is designed to adapt and fully-support data center convergence with its extreme capacity and performance acceleration to truly tax the integration of computing, networking, and storage, and expose the scalability limits. IxLoad supports an extensive library of high-fidelity stateful protocols for realistic emulations of web, mail and file transfer applications; and flexible workload generation to stress computing and storage of servers and NAS/SAN devices, voice and video services, and network infrastructure services such as DHCP, DNS, LDAP and RADIUS.

Multi-Application Performance and Subscriber Management

Ixia’s AppLibrary delivers a simplified workflow and framework to emulate realistic application mixes from a predefined library of application flows. AppLibrary, enabled by Ixia’s Application and Threat Intelligence (ATI) program, is always kept current with a monthly subscription service that offers the latest application flows and updates for existing flows. With PerfectStorm, users validate the scale and performance of content-aware devices and networks by emulating real-world traffic that includes the blend of applications used on today’s networks, all at line-rate 10G and 40G speeds. It also provides granular measurement capabilities to validate the impact and effectiveness of traffic management policies on application performance and end-user quality of experience (QoE) with per-app and per-IP granular statistics.

Bandwidth-Intensive Video Services

IxLoad delivers an ultra-high performance video test portfolio with very-comprehensive, highly-interactive and fully-compliant OTT, IPTV, and VoD (RTSP) service emulation. On the PerfectStorm, users can emulate more than half a million simulated users and close to 50Gbps of streaming OTT application traffic like HLS, HDS, and Silverlight to assess true subscriber QoE.

VoIP Service Validation

Session border controllers, media gateways, security gateways, and firewalls play a critical role in enabling and protecting the new-generation of multimedia services, which are driving the deployment of VoIP and fixed mobile converged (IMS) networks. With the PerfectStorm users can measure the quality of the end-user experience by performing voice, conversational video, and DTMF analysis in real time on over 2 million RTP and 500 thousand SRTP streams on a single platform. Hardware acceleration on the PerfectStorm makes it the ideal solution to validate voice-media security with the high performance TLS and STRP.

Unified Storage for Could Datacenters

IxLoad-Storage delivers a scalable and flexible solution for testing high-performance NAS and SAN storage devices and networks. Replace racks of servers used for different client simulation with PerfectStorm, which can scale up to millions of clients and IOPS, saving energy costs and rackspace. IxLoad-Storage is also suitable for validating in-line devices such as WAN optimizers and load balancers that inspect and optimize storage application performance. IxLoad’s advanced data randomization functionality with user-defined Hot/Cold/Warm and compressibility profiles help validate the WAN optimizers' data reduction performance and application latency improvements.

Dynamic Broadband Access and Network Authentication

When validating today's multiplay networks, it is important to realistically simulate the dynamic behavior of subscribers accessing the provider networks. IxLoad enables realistic emulation of residential broadband subscribers using DHCP or PPPoE, telecommuters using IPsec, or BOYD in enterprises using network access and authentication protocols like 802.1x authentication with and without NAC, EAPoUDP and WebAuth. It is also critical to be able to assess the impact of network volatility that results in application outages and interface flaps, or when a large number of subscribers simultaneously log in. IxLoad's Dynamic Interface Behavior (DIB) adds a new dimension of subscriber and network realism when testing application-aware devices and networks.
