Petit et du Dr Steven M. Goodman, respectivement. La collecte de données, les analyses en laboratoire ont été réalisés avec plusieurs équipes de chercheurs. Aucune partie de cette thèse n'a été soumise pour un degré ou toute autre qualification auprès d’autres universités. i REMERCIEMENTS Ce travail a été effectué en cotutelle entre le Département ECOBIO, Option Biologie, Université de Rennes 1 et le Département de Biologie Animale, Faculté des Sciences, Université d’Antananarivo. Petit pour m’avoir accueilli au sein de son laboratoire et qui m’a énormément aidé et soutenu dans toutes mes démarches pour mon inscription à l’Université de Rennes 1 dans le cadre de cette cotutelle et pour l’obtention de mon visa d’entrée en France. Un hommage à Olga Ramilijaona, mon premier encadrant qui s’est beaucoup investi dans ces travaux de thèse et qui malheureusement n'est plus là pour voir le travail achevé. Je remercie Hajanirina Rakotomanana, Jean-Marc Pons, Nelly Menard, Noromalala Raminosoa Andriamampionona, membres du jury pour le temps qu’ils ont accordé à l’évaluation de mon travail et pour avoir lu les quelques 174 pages qui suivent celle-ci. Racey qui a su éveiller en moi, dès mes débuts dans la recherche (vers l’année 2000), une véritable passion pour les chauves-souris. Grâce à lui, j’ai été initié à la recherche et à la conservation des chauves-souris malgaches. Il m’a permis d’entreprendre plusieurs séjours à l’extérieur pour approfondir mes connaissances et m’a sans aucun doute apporté, à travers les centaines d’heures passées ensemble, sur le terrain ou au bureau, une vision plus approfondie de la complexité de la biologie des chauves-souris. J’exprime ici mon admiration pour Richard K. B. Jenkins, ancien Directeur de Madagasikara Voakajy. Ecouter, observer, comprendre, retranscrire avec à-propos sont ses maîtres mots. Qu’il reçoive l'expression de toute ma reconnaissance pour m'avoir conseillé lors de la rédaction des différents chapitres de cette thèse, et pour avoir donné de son dynamisme et de ses compétences scientifiques afin de trouver les fonds nécessaires à mes recherches. Il m’a accordé du temps pour assister à des ateliers, des conférences et des formations aussi bien à Madagascar qu’à l’extérieur pour renforcer mes capacités et me donner les compétences nécessaires à mes travaux de doctorat et à mon développement professionnel. Les équipes de Madagasikara Voakajy et de Lamin’asa Fiarovana Ramanavy ont aussi grandement participé aux collectes des données sur terrain, particulièrement la capture de ii milliers de chauves-souris. Je pense notamment à Amyot F. Kofoky, Andrinajoro R. Rakotoarivelo, Daudet Andriafidison, Fanja H. Ratrimomanarivo, Félicien H. Randrianandrianina, Irma Raharinantenaina, Julie Razafimanahaka, Mahefatiana Ralisata, Noromampiandra Razafindrakoto, Roseline L. Rampilamanana, Tojo Mihangihajason, Tsibara Mbohoahy et Victor Rakotomboavonjy, sans oublier les infatigables chauffeurs Rado Andriamihaja et Olivier M. Randrianarimanana. Je n’oublierai jamais les moments difficiles passés ensemble sur le terrain, la nuit avec les chauves-souris agitées, à récupérer à des endroits escarpés et parfois dangereux. Je pense et remercie tout spécialement Andrinajoro R. Rakotoarivelo, Félicien H. Randrianandrianina, Haingo Rabe, Roseline L. Rampilamanana et Victor Rakotomboavonjy qui nous ont entre autre accompagnés à Maromizaha (Commune Andasibe) pendant plusieurs nuits pluvieuses sur des pentes glissantes pour suivre les déplacements des chauves-souris par radio-télémétrie et pour le courage dont ils ont fait preuve. Ils ont tous eu un rôle important dans la réussite de ces missions et se sont démenés pour que l’on puisse faire le maximum, au prix de leur sommeil. Merci à Mahefatiana Ralisata avec qui j'ai partagé le bureau chez Madagasikara Voakajy, pour nos conversations, scientifiques ou pas et aux bons souvenirs que tu m’as laissés. J’aurais beaucoup aimé capturer les Myzopoda aurita à tes côtés. Avec moi tu aurais eu la chance de capturer les femelles de cette espèce. J'adresse à Noromampiandra Razafindrakoto tous mes remerciements pour sa précieuse collaboration à la détermination taxinomique des échantillons des plantes collectés sur les terrains et les graines accompagnant les fecès de Rousettus madagascariensis . Merci à Tefimanana dit Faralahy, pour avoir accepté de rester seul dans la petite toile de tente pour garder un œil sur la camera de surveillance des animaux visiteurs des fruits et le moniteur, le fou à lier avec qui j’ai passé d’excellents moments, celui qui a promu la dégustation d’une matavikely (Rousettus madagascarisnsis) grillée, morte après sa capture. Merci à ceux qui ont contribué directement ou indirectement à la réussite de ces missions de terrain. Assurer la logistique est un métier difficile où réussir signifie passer inaperçu. Tabora Department of Biological Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences, University of Southern Mindanao, Kabacan, Cotabato, Philippines Received: 27 February 2019 Accepted: 10 June 2019 Abstract Family Pteropodidae could consume either fruit or flower parts to sustain their energy requirement. In some species of fruit bats, population growth is sometimes dependent on the food availability and in return bats could be pollinators of certain species of plants. In this study, 152 female bats captured from the Manilkara zapota orchard of the University of Southern Mindanao were examined for their reproductive stages. Lactation of fruit bat species Ptenochirus jagori and Ptenochirus minor were positively correlated with the fruiting of M. zapota. While the lactation of Cynopterus brachyotis, Eonycteris spelaea and Rousettus amplexicaudatus were positively associated with the flowering of M. zapota. Together, thirty M. zapota trees were observed for their generative stage (fruiting or flowering) in 6 months. Based on the canonical correspondence analysis, only P. jagori was considered as the natural forager as its lactating stage coincides with the fruiting peaks and only C. brachyotis and E. spelaea were the potential pollinators since its lactating stage coincides with the flowering peaks ofM. zapota tree. The method in this study can be used to identify potential pollinators and foragers in other fruit trees. Common names: Giant bush hop, sand olive Dhivehi name: Kudhi-ruuvaali Status: Common in some of the islands in the southern group; rare in the northern islands. Description: A fast-growing small tree or shrub that grows to 1 to 3 m in height but is capable of reaching 8 m. Bark is dark grey coloured, fissured and peeling. Branchlets are rusty red in colour, sometimes narrowly winged or ridged. Branches exudate resin. Leaves are simple, papery with very short petiole or subsessile. Leaf shape varies from lanceolate to linear spooniform and secretes gummy exudate on both the surfaces and thus always appearing shiny. Leaf margin is entire or inconspicuously wavy and the leaf tip is pointed or round. Inflorescence is terminal or axillary and densely flowered. Flowers are very small, borne on long and slender flower stalks. Sepals are four in number, greenish-yellow in colour; petals are absent. Fruit is a capsule and two to three winged. In mature fruits, wings are coral red in colour. Seeds are small, black and lens like in shape. Each chamber of the fruit contains one to two seeds. Uses: D. viscosa is very effective in sand dune fixation and controlling coastal erosion since its roots are excellent soil binders. It is also used to reclaim marshes. It is grown as an ornamental plant for its shiny foliage and pink-red winged fruit. Poles are useful in fencing. Timber is hard and durable. In the Maldives, tree nails are prepared from the timber, which are used for boat building.

    Foreword : This work is not an original contribution. It compiles informations dispersed in several pa- pers, especially in Berg’s publications. Descriptions and most of the informations have been extracted from Berg, 1986; 1990 and Berg & Wiebes, 1992. I just add original photographs and drawings, update some biological and taxonomic informations and adapt parts of the keys of the fig wasps. I also include distribution maps for all the species of Ficus occurring in Madagascar, these maps were based on material observed in the MNHN, Paris and from personnal observations. They were subsequently implemented by A. Dalecky (Dalecky et al. 2002). I hope it could be a valuable field guide for beginners and will generate some voca- tions to study the fig-fig wasps interaction. The first part of this booklet presents the species of Ficus which occur in Madgascar. It should enable the non-expert to recognise fig species which is a rather difficult task. Clearly a good picture often says more than words and to this end as many fig species as possible have been illustrated. For this purpose I made original line drawings (however when I never observed the species, I used drawings from Berg, 1986) and photographs I took in a trip to Madagascar in 1996. The identification key is adapted from C.C. Berg’s key to Afro- tropical species (1992). The second part give a key to the genera of Chalcid wasps (Hymenoptera) associated with Ficus in the afrotropical region. In some parts (especially the pollinators) the key is weak, but I have no enough time to formalise my notes.

Information contained in this document is in accordance with accepted scientific and technical standards that are consistent with the requirements of United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW). The Project reach is surrounded mainly by residential, commercial, and industrial development. The Project is located at the western terminus of the CA-22 freeway, and extends from Atherton Street to Pacific Coast Highway, in the City of Long Beach. The proposed impact area includes: . The expanse from the top of the riprap on one bank, across the channel, to the top of the riprap on the other bank .
