DEADLINE.com FROM THE BLACK WE HEAR-- MARK (V.O.) Did you know there are more people with genius IQ’s living in China than there are people of any kind living in the United States? ERICA (V.O.) That can’t possibly be true. MARK (V.O.) It is. ERICA (V.O.) What would account for that? MARK (V.O.) Well, first, an awful lot of people live in China. But here’s my question: FADE IN: INT. CAMPUS BAR - NIGHT MARK ZUCKERBERG is a sweet looking 19 year old whose lack of any physically intimidating attributes masks a very complicated and dangerous anger. He has trouble making eye contact and sometimes it’s hard to tell if he’s talking to you or to himself. ERICA, also 19, is Mark’s date. She has a girl-next-door face that makes her easy to fall for. At this point in the conversation she already knows that she’d rather not be there and her politeness is about to be tested. The scene is stark and simple. MARK How do you distinguish yourself in a population of people who all got 1600 on theirDEADLINE.com SAT’s? ERICA I didn’t know they take SAT’s in China. MARK They don’t. I wasn’t talking about China anymore, I was talking about me. ERICA You got 1600? MARK Yes. I could sing in an a Capella group, but I can’t sing. 2. ERICA Does that mean you actually got nothing wrong? MARK I can row crew or invent a 25 dollar PC.

  • About-Asana.Pdf
About Asana Asana is a leading work management platform that helps teams orchestrate their work, from daily tasks to strategic initiatives. Asana adds structure to unstructured work, creating clarity, transparency and accountability to everyone within an organization—individuals, team leads and executives—so they understand exactly who is doing what, by when. Our co-founders started Asana because they experienced firsthand the growing problem of work about work, or internal coordination. Instead of spending time on work that generated results, they were spending time in status meetings and long email threads trying to figure out who was doing what. They recognized this pain was universal to teams that need to coordinate their work effectively to achieve their objectives. As a result of that frustration, they were inspired to create Asana to solve this problem for the world’s teams. More and more often I see behaviorism at work in attempting to lure brains to a site or app and to keep them coming back day after day. This book exposes these practices and offers readers a glimpse behind the “emotional scenes” as tech companies come out psychologically fir- ing at their consumers. Unless these practices are exposed and made public, tech companies will continue to shape our brains and not in a good way.” —Larry D. Rosen, Professor Emeritus of Psychology, author of 7 books including The Distracted Mind: Ancient Brains in a High Tech World “The Psychology of Silicon Valley is a remarkable story of an industry’s shift from idealism to narcissism and even sociopathy. But deep cracks are showing in the Valley’s mantra of ‘we know better than you.’ Katy Cook’s engaging read has a message that needs to be heard now.” —Richard Freed, author of Wired Child “A welcome journey through the mind of the world’s most influential industry at a time when understanding Silicon Valley’s motivations, myths, and ethics are vitally important.” —Scott Galloway, Professor of Marketing, NYU and author of The Algebra of Happiness and The Four Katy Cook The Psychology of Silicon Valley Ethical Threats and Emotional Unintelligence in the Tech Industry Katy Cook Centre for Technology Awareness London, UK ISBN 978-3-030-27363-7 ISBN 978-3-030-27364-4 (eBook) https://doi.org/10.1007/978-3-030-27364-4 © The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s) 2020 This book is an open access publication.

Leander New s Leander Club Newslette r Winter 2010 Totally Oarsome… Leander has had another very strong year in 2010. We have produced winning crews at every level and with the World Championships less than a week away, there is promise of yet more success for Leander athletes and coaches in New Zealand. These Championships are two months later than usual to fit in with the New Zealand summer, and as a result it seems strange to be reflecting on the season thus far when it is not yet finished. One of the positives of this situation is that it reduces the amount of winter training that many of us will have to do for the 2011 season! The most recent addition to the team is Beijing silver medallist Debbie Flood, who following a training camp in Germany has been confirmed as competing in the women’s quad - the boat in which she has twice won silver at successive Olympic Games.
