OUR MISSION STATEMENT

We invite all to Worship, Pray, and Evangelize as we love and serve the Lord.

Saint Joseph and Saint Meinrad are partners from their start. Father Joseph Kundek played a major role in bringing the monks from Einsiedeln Abbey in Switzerland.to South- ern Indiana in 1854. The Swiss Abbey of Einsiedeln sent two monks to Indiana to start a new Benedictine monastery that has grown to the facility we know today. Currently, more than 1,500 Saint Meinrad alumni serve the Church as priests through- out the world. In addition, nearly 7,000 lay alumni are serving the Church and society in many different vocations. Men and women in lay ministry, both professional and volun- teer, have benefited from receiving a quality education at Saint Meinrad. Saint Meinrad has served the needs of the Diocese of Evansville for many years. There are 49 active and retired priests of the diocese (including Bishop Siegel and Bishop Emeritus Gettelfinger), 52 permanent dea- cons, 15 religious and 345 lay people who are alumni of Saint Meinrad. The Diocese of Evansville currently has 6 seminarians studying at Saint Meinrad. The Seminary and School of Theology offers several programs to meet the ministerial needs of the Church. Men preparing for the priesthood pursue the Master of Divinity degree and Master of Arts (Catholic Philosoph- ical Studies). Men and women who are seeking to serve the Church as lay ministers study for the Master of Arts (Theology). Saint Meinrad also provides a Permanent Deacon Formation Program to 8 dioceses, and offers year-round retreats for those looking for spiritual nourishment. Each summer, hundreds of high school and college youth participate in the “One Bread, One Cup” confer- ences. They learn more about their Catholic faith and develop skills they can use when they return to their home parishes. Today the monastic community of about 80 priests and brothers serves the Catholic Church in a variety of ways. Besides their work in the Seminary and School of Theology, monks are serving as chaplains, as faculty at other institutions, and at parishes in several dioceses. Father Andrew is an alumnus of Saint Meinrad and graciously agreed to represent them this weekend, as we hold “Saint Meinrad Sunday”. A Monk would have joined us if it were not for Covid-19. I want you to know how fortunate we are to have them in our backyard. Their summer youth program “One Bread, One Cup (OBOC)” has been huge for many of our parish youth. Your parish priests and leadership have benefited from many educational, spiritual opportunities, and have been able to serve as Mentors for future Priests. I ask you to support Saint Meinrad at this time.

God bless, Father Eugene Email: [email protected]

Saint the Archangel Prayer

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the malice and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into hell and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.
