The Program is administered by the Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO). In order to receive funding under the Program, DEO must first recommend the applicant’s request for funding to the Legislature and receive approval, then certify the approved request for funding as an annual distribution amount to the Department of Revenue. The Program is funded by state sales and use tax revenues. Individual facilities may receive up to $3 million annually, and no more than $13 million can be distributed under the Program in a single year. A facility can receive distributions for up to 30 years and up to $90 million per certified facility.
