The GSC is a charter member of Division II and enters its 45th year as one of the premier conferences at any NCAA level. In the summer of 1970, six college presidents met to discuss athletics; when the meeting ended, a new league emerged—the Mid-South Conference—started by, and to this day run by, the CEOs, the first in NCAA history. It is that CEO-control and involvement that makes the league work and its 14 championships (football; men’s & women’s cross country, men’s & women’s soccer; volleyball, men’s & women’s basketball, men’s & women’s tennis, men’s & women’s golf, softball and baseball) so intensely contested. From that point forward, the GSC has been giant steps ahead of the D-II pack. Beginning in 1997, the league found neutral sites paying size- able guarantees for most of its team championships. NCAA Conventions regularly feature GSC-proposed or -inspired legislation. No one wins more regionals or earns more NCAA post-season bids. In 2004, the league purchased its own built-to-its-specification office space. But the crowning moment came in 2005-06, when the GSC debuted its highly successful “GSC-TV Live” package which included nine football games (now 11) and its men’s & women’s basketball tournament finals.

JSU athletics announced today that the game has officially been set to take place on Oct. 23. The Gamecocks were slated to compete against Florida International on Sept. 3, but after FIU postponed fall sports, the teams had to agree on a new date. The kickoff time has not been announced. JSU athletic director Greg Seitz said he is very happy with the way the football schedule turned out, despite the circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. “Playing at home and keeping those previously scheduled games were very important to us, and we were able to get all of those things done,” said Seitz. “To be able to add a trip to Florida State to that schedule was really the icing on the cake and a huge game for our 1/2 program and for Jacksonville State University.

    December 26, 2020 BOWL SEASON NOTES The 2020-21 Bowl Season enters its sixth day, with seven games played so far… Friday saw one game played – a Buffalo 17-10 win over Marshall in the Camellia Bowl… the game marked the first Christmas-day bowl game to be played since the 2003 Hawaii Bowl… the win was the Bulls’ sixth victory of the season (6-1)… Today’s schedule features three matchups, as Louisiana and UTSA sQuare off in the SERVPRO First Responder Bowl (3:30 p.m. EST on ABC), Western Kentucky takes on Georgia State in the LendingTree Bowl (3:30 p.m. EST on ESPN), and Liberty faces Coastal Carolina in the FBC Mortgage Cure Bowl (7:30 p.m. EST on ESPN)… Three other bowls (Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl, Guaranteed Rate Bowl, Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl) originally scheduled for today were all canceled earlier… Bowl Season will culminate with the College Football Playoff National Championship, played in Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium on January 11.     AGREEMENT between VISIT ORLANDO and Orlando Sports Foundation Cure Bowl 2020, 2021, and 2022 SPORTS INCENTIVE FUND AGREEMENT THIS AGREEMENT is made and entered into as of the date of last execution by the parties below, by and between the Orlando/Orange County Convention & Visitors Bureau, Inc., a not-for-profit corporation organized under the laws of the State of Florida, (“Visit Orlando”), and Orlando Sports Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit membership organization organized under the laws of the State of Florida (“Recipient”). WITNESSETH: WHEREAS, Orange County, Florida (the “County”) has previously found that encouraging and promoting the selection of the Orlando area as a venue for international, national, regional and local sports events, teams and sports-related businesses generates economic growth and enhances the overall quality of life of Orlando area residents; and WHEREAS, on November 1, 2016, the Orange County Board of County Commissioners (“Board”) enacted Ordinance 2016-23 which authorized consolidated sports funding under the Tourist Development Plan for incentivizing sporting events in venues located in Orange County (“Sports Incentive Funds”); and WHEREAS, on October 31, 2017, the Board adopted Resolution No. 2017-M-43 which established the Tourist Development Tax Sports Incentive Committee (“Committee”) to serve in an advisory capacity to the Board with the professional assistance of Visit Orlando; and WHEREAS, the Board has entered into an agreement between the County and Visit Orlando (the “Visit Orlando Agreement”)
