COMEDY CENTRAL will debut the World Premiere of "Weird Al" Yankovic Live! - The Alpocalypse Tour on Saturday, October 1 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT. On October 4, "Weird Al" Yankovic Live! - The Alpocalypse Tour will be released in North America on DVD and Blu-ray by COMEDY CENTRAL Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment and download-to-own including iTunes and Amazon Video On Demand. In addition, the special will be available in high definition on Xbox LIVE Marketplace and PlayStation Store. The extended DVD and Blu-ray include nearly an hour's worth of concert footage not seen on COMEDY CENTRAL, plus over 30 minutes of bonus features that include: music videos for "Perform This Way" and "Polka Face," three extra live concert performances, a bunch of Al's personal YouTube videos and more. "Weird Al" Yankovic Live! - The Alpocalypse Tour was shot this summer at the venerable Massey Hall in Toronto during Weird Al's tour to support the release of Alpocalypse. His first full-length studio album in nearly five years, Alpocalypse (released by Jive/Sony in June) debuted at #9 on Billboard's Top 200 chart, Yankovic's highest-charting album ever. "Weird Al" Yankovic Live! - The Alpocalypse Tour features hits off of Alpocalypse like "Perform This Way," Weird Al's parody of Lady Gaga's "Born This Way," which garnered over six million video views in its first week of release, as well as many of the legendary artist's greatest hits, including "White & Nerdy," "Amish Paradise" and "Fat." All he had to do was impress some talent directors, and he would be on The Gong Show, on stage with Chuck Barris and the Unknown Comic and Jaye P. Morgan and Gene Gene the Dancing Machine. "I was in college," said Yankovic, "and a friend and I drove down to LA for the day, and auditioned for The Gong Show. And we did a song called 'Mr. Frump in the Iron Lung.' And the audience seemed to enjoy it, but we never got called back. So we didn't make the cut for The Gong Show." But while the Unknown Co mic and Gene Gene the Dancing Machine are currently brain stumpers in 1970's trivia contests, the accordionist who failed the Gong Show taping became the biggest selling parodist and comedic recording artist of the past 30 years. His earliest parodies were recorded with an accordion in a men's room, but today, he and his band have replicated tracks so well one would think they borrowed the original master tape, wiped off the original vocalist, and superimposed Yankovic into the mix. And with MTV, MuchMusic, Dr. Demento and Radio Disney playing his songs right out of the box, Yankovic has reached a pinnacle of success and longevity most artists can only imagine. Uma década. Muito tempo. De vida. De história. Para o Universo, claro, é muito pouco. É um sopro. Guardadas as proporções, para o projeto Criança e Consumo não foi muito nem pouco. Foi tempo suficiente para termos feito o que fizemos e para ter acontecido o que aconteceu. Mas, sem dúvida, é um marco. Um aniversário a ser comemorado e celebrado, com conquistas e vitórias. Um momento para renovar a visão do que virá, do que pode acontecer, do que se quer como presente no futuro. Hora de olhar atentamente para o que passou, inclusive em relação ao que saiu diferente do que se imaginou. Feliz aniversário, projeto Criança e Consumo do Instituto Alana! Nesses últimos 10 anos, tive o prazer e a honra de estar à frente da coordenação desse incrível trabalho desenvolvido por uma equipe que sempre foi e continua sendo extremamente comprometida, dedicada e movida por um ideal de vida maior, que é o resgate do humanismo na sua mais completa profundidade.
