• Delivering solutions to the nation’s toughest environmental challenges • 8 KEY ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAM TRENDS

✓ Providing sustainable solutions.

USACE Sustainability Plan: Identifying sustainable solutions to address short and long‐term environmental, social, and economic considerations. → Assessing internal operations to improve efficiencies in USACE-owned and operated facilities. → Looking at services/products provided across civil, military and research & development business lines to ensure sustainability is being integrated to help them meet their sustainability goals and targets.

✓ Supporting partners on emerging chemicals of environmental concern.

Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS): Providing technical support at more than half of the Department of Defense's installations undergoing investigation to address potential PFAS releases. Activities include: → Identifying and testing for PFOA/PFOS*; and → Executing responses to address these substances, when found. * Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS)

✓ Enhancing acquisition strategies.

Optimized Remediation Contracts (ORC): Effectively and efficiently manage Air Force Environmental Restoration Program in a performance-based, results-oriented, and cost-conscious framework. Environmental Community of Practice (ECOP) Contract Acquisition Work Group (CAWG): Active forum that identifies contracting and resource-related challenges and possible solutions that affect execution of Environmental Programs. → CAWG members convene quarterly to share information, support decision-making for improved outcomes, and provide strategic recommendations to ECOP leadership and home organizations.
