LIST OF EMPLOYEES REQUIRED TO ATTEND THE DEBUT PARTY THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH STARR DANGERFIELD Wax Museum Curator Starr Dangerfield is the curator at the Greatest Show Wax Museum – a sideshow exhibit next to the Big Top. Starr creates and maintains lifelike figures of movie stars, politicians, and other celebrities. Starr offers VIP tours of the museum’s workshop to show the process of the creation of the wax tributes. Starr lurks in the shadows of the fairgrounds to watch customers walk by on occasion. Some believe Starr is searching for the right person – but for what reason? FLOSSY G. Acrobat Flossy G. is an acrobat who doubles as a ride jock on the Vortex Gravitron roller coaster – a ride which is advertised as causing less than forty injuries to riders per year. Flossy G. has been known to fight with customers of the funfair and follow them into the parking lot. Under the Big Top, Flossy G. radiates balance, agility, and strength on the trapeze, silks, and aerial hoops. An adrenaline junky, Flossy G. loves the combination of soaring heights and danger. MAX A. MILLION Ringmaster Max A. Million is a peculiar master of ceremonies who rescues people from dangerous circumstances in their lives and recruits them to become part of the big family of The Greatest Show on Earth – a traveling circus and funfair. A former lounge singer turned failed variety show host, Max is a true performer at heart – a show person who will do anything to fill the stands under the Big Top. SKYWHEEL DANNY Clown Skywheel Danny is a circus clown who performs as the human cannonball and manages the bounce house on the midway between show times at the Big Top. Danny often straggles behind the daily parade and glares at the onlookers to frighten them. Skywheel has been accused of terrorizing locals by throwing candies at their windows in the middle of the night until they peer out the window and see Skywheel smile at them. To date, Skywheel Danny hasn’t harmed anyone or even been charged with trespassing. SNAKE SOLEI Contortionist Snake Solei was hiding out in a filthy gas station restroom when Max's funfair traveled through town. Max made a secret deal with Snake to perform under the Big Top in exchange for protection from the feds. Snake is a contortionist who is wanted for attempted murder in another state, having allegedly stabbed someone after a road rage incident. Because Max believes idle time affords trouble, outside of the Big Top show times, Snake manages the funnel cake booth on the midway. Snake is somewhat easy to get along with but can be highly unpredictable. ROCKIN BOBBY Daredevil Rockin Bobby is the daredevil of the Big Top show and sideshows. Willing to accept risks for cheap thrills, Rockin Bobby exudes recklessness and a lack of good sense. From a life of jumping out of planes and pushing the limits of free-falls to diving too deep without SCUBA gear, Rockin Bobby has found a relatively safe home at The Greatest Show on Earth. Bobby leads the daily parades and runs the balloon dart game on the midway. Bobby participates in the Big Top show with a high wire feat, a knife-throwing act, a motorbike car jump, and a hook suspension performance. MyMysteryParty.com © Copyright All Rights Reserved. GILLIE SNOWBRIDGE Gypsy Gillie Snowbridge is the mysterious fortune teller who works in the Hall of Mirrors - a sideshow attraction at the funfair. Gillie is posted at the end of the mirror maze with a six-foot mirror called The Mirror of Behāwian and claims it will reveal the innermost appearance and desires of the onlooker. A giver of nightmares, Gillie Snowbridge lacks a conscience when it comes to delivering dreadful fortunes. Don’t ask Gillie anything you don’t wish to know! VALERIO GRIFFON Strong Man Valerio Griffon is potentially the strongest man on Earth. Desperate for work, Valerio confessed to Max that he was on the run from the law due to his involvement in a series of unfortunate events, including the murder of a man who challenged his strength on the street. Valerio has a criminal history and has been in trouble since he was a child pickpocket. Some say Valerio’s strength and poor choices are not due to environment or genetics. There is a word on the street that Valerio may have been part of a human research trial that went wrong. RAIN TEMPEST Escape Artist Rain Tempest is an escape artist who has been thrilling audiences for decades after getting an early start with card tricks as a child on the streets. Max A. Million was lucky to convince Rain to join the funfair, as Rain is internationally famous due to a live television special in the ‘90s that featured Rain being shackled in a steel cage filled with ice water and escaping in record time. Rain is obsessed with perfecting new illusions and becomes enraged when anyone stands between Rain and work. This illusionist isn’t happy about having to skip a rehearsal to attend Max’s party under the Big Top. MADAM VIVIAN LORE Bearded Beauty Madam Vivian Lore is touted as the most beautiful bearded lady in the world. However, rumor has it that her lustrous beard is a fake! Madam Lore was Max's first recruit to The Greatest Show on Earth and will not hear of anyone accusing her of not having real facial hair. Madam Lore manages the games of chance and skill off the midway. BAT VON TATS Painted Person Bat Von Tats manages the Hair Braids & Henna Tattoo stand at the entrance of the fairground. Tattooed from head to toe, Bat draws curious gazes from the customers. Bat's first tattoo was at age eighteen, and ever since, Bat has spent over 1,000 hours in the tattoo chair having every visible inch of skin tattooed including eyelids, between the toes, gums and even the white of an eyeball. Bat is a super friendly person, but the amount of ink in Bat's skin is the only focus onlookers seem to have. LOLO PANOR Flea Circus Manager The Flea Circus is a sideshow attraction in which fleas perform feats within tiny exhibits. Since The Greatest Show on Earth came together, Lolo has been under attack from various animal rights groups for using harnesses around fleas to force them to perform tricks for an audience. However, undercover investigators disguised as carnival workers have revealed that Lolo’s fleas are not real insects but rather mechanical devices operated by electricity and magnets. Lolo firmly denies these allegations and contends that the fleas are real animals that are trained and not on harnesses. Lolo also claims the insects are taken care of well within federal animal housing standards. MyMysteryParty.com © Copyright All Rights Reserved. SPIDER Ticket Clerk Recently released from a long stint in prison for robbery, Spider is the head ticket clerk for The Greatest Show on Earth. An impulsive dreamer, Spider believes it isn’t too late to run for US President one day. Spider has a somewhat monstrous appearance with many visible scars, but is charming, approachable, and craves fame and all of the luxuries life can offer. ALIBI KRUPNICK Acrobat An only child who was spoiled throughout life, Alibi grew up with a mother, a maid, and a nanny in the most prominent estate in town. Alibi never wanted for anything. After a falling out with Alibi’s mother, Alibi was banished from the mansion and thrown on the streets. Max found Alibi on the side of the highway during a terrible thunderstorm and recruited Alibi to the funfair. Alibi is accustomed to having every whim catered to and isn’t used to working for a living. This has caused severe problems since Alibi joined the show. TINY HUCKABEE Stunt Assistant An orphan who was forced to grow up too early, Tiny Huckabee relied upon pick-pocketing to eat and provide shelter until Tiny met Max A. Million and joined the show. Tiny is experienced with manipulation and trickery and suffers from a wonky moral compass. Despite Tiny’s reputation as a con artist, Tiny’s personality is generally peaceful and welcoming. Tiny assists Rockin Bobby with amazing feats and often has input on the design of stunts. CARSON MCCOY Animal Keeper Carson McCoy is one of the most attractive workers for The Greatest Show on Earth. Carson has a strong regard for colleagues and is fiercely loyal to close friends. Carson dreams of one day being the head zookeeper at the San Diego Zoo. Carson considers the animals of the funfair as children and everyone else as an extended family. JERRY LEE PARK Housing Manager Jerry Lee Park has been in and out of jail since childhood. Jerry Lee was an aspiring actor as a child and yearns to become part of the main show under the Big Top. However, Jerry Lee is void of all talent. Jerry Lee has a trailer full of disguises and is driven by greed and gluttony. Jerry Lee has no ethical qualms about causing pain or putting others in danger for financial gain. THE DRAGON Chief of Security The Dragon is ruthless, fierce, and has an uncontrollable temper.

(G) Well I worked as a clown for the circuses and now I’m working as a clown on stage, pretty much doing instead of circus clowning I’m doing clowning which is more indicative to the stage and has a greater structure. There’s a lot of difference in both types of clowning. (P) I see. So then you are working independently rather than with a circus or anything like that? (G) Yes I’m trying to do shows on a college circuit and nightclubs and things like that. But I’m trying to take the clowning from the circus which was more a popular entertainment thing but yet it’s still an art form into more of a serious theater piece where it has a beginning middle and an end. (P) How did you become involved with clowning? (G) I was involved with theater at Northern Michigan University and I tried doing a few things around in school and found that I had a pretty good ability for acting and I got involved in theater and I worked in a few of the play and got real good support from the public and my teachers. And I decided that I wanted to instead of going on into the university, I was getting kind of tired college so I decided to maybe go into a professional field, more like popular entertainment and try and take classes while I was doing and move into acting in either a large city or whatever areas I had go to do that.

    Abstract http://www.soa.ilstu.edu/anthropology/theses/burns/index.htm Through the "Front Door" to the "Backyard": Linguistic Variation of the American Circus Lisa Burns Illinois State University Anthropology Department Dr. James Stanlaw, Advisor May 1, 2003 Abstract The language of circus can be interpreted through two perspectives: the Traditional American Circus and the New American Circus. There is considerable anthropological importance and research within the study of spectacle and circus. However, there is a limited amount of academic literature pertaining to the linguistics and semiotics of circus. Through participant observation and interviewing, of both circus and non-circus individuals, data will be acquired and analyzed. Further research will provide background information of both types of circuses. Results indicate that an individual's preference can be determined based on the linguistic and semiotic terms used when describing the circus. Introduction Throughout my life, I have always been intrigued by the circus. As a result, I joined the Gamma Phi Circus, here at Illinois State University, in order to obtain a better understanding of circus in our culture. A brief explanation of the title is useful in understanding my paper. I chose the title "Through the 'Front Door' to the 'Backyard'" because "front door" is circus lingo for the doors that a person goes through on entering the tent. The word "backyard" refers to the area in which behind the tent where all the people in the production of the circus park their trailers. This title encompasses the range of information that I have gathered from performers, to directors, to audience members.

He is originally from Pittsburgh USA, but for many years has been based in Australia. Ira has worked all around the world alongside a virtual Who’s Who of physical, clown and Circus performance from major international luminaries and iconic organisations, to grassroots practitioners and soloists. We are lucky enough to have access to him for this interview about his life, his influences, his methodology, some advice and his hopes for the future. Pittsburgh is a city with three rivers the Allegheny and Monongahela join to form the Ohio which helps form the Mississippi. There are lots of hills of the Allegheny/Appalachian Mountains. Pittsburgh is surrounded by farms and coal towns populated by ethnic Europeans who were starving in the 1800s.
