Beavers come to St Marks The local Beaver group visited St Marks Church to see what they could see. 12 Beavers looked and asked questions about what things where in the church and why they were there. We also dressed 2 of them up in the Vicars robes and they did very well remembering the funny names things are called. Thank you to Mrs Pat Mann and her helpers for bringing along the 12 beavers. A great evening with lots of fun. They have promised to come back.

Valuation day at St. John’s St. John's Church are holding a VALUATION DAY held by MATTHEW LATHIET of Hanson's Auctioneers on SATURDAY 18TH JUNE 2016 11.- 2.00 P.M. £1 per item for Valuation Light bites/ Coffee/Tea available Newhall News The Friends of Newhall Park are currently building a new War Memorial which will be unveiled on the afternoon of Sunday, July 3rd at 12.30p.m. This is to coincide with the 100th Anniversary of the Battle of the Somme. This Ceremony will include Blessing and prayers from Rev Kath Wood and the British Legion will be involved. People are invited to support this occasion.

Trinity Sunday with the Another wonderful service in the Trent and Derwent parishes. Over 60 people came to St Mary, Weston on Trent on the 22nd May to celebrate Trinity Sunday with the Bishop of Derby. Bishop Alastair talked about the Venerable Bede in his address to explain this aspect of our Christian faith. people from our neighbouring parishes Elvaston, Shardlow and Aston on Trent joined with Weston parishioners and Jayne Williamson for St Mary's said 'It was a lovely service and great to see so many people in our Church

Our next special service will be on the 24th July, 10.30 at St James,Shardlow where the guest preacher will be The Venerable Christopher Cunliffe, the of Derby’

Easter Breakfast at St Wystan’s For our second year, we held an Easter breakfast between our two morning services, and there was just enough time to enjoy orange juice, croissants and coffee, with of course, a small Easter egg to finish. It was lovely that we had so many people joining us, and it proved to be a nice way to celebrate on such a special day.

Evensong at the Cathedral The people of the Deanery of Repton and Melbourne were invited by the Dean, Rt. Rev to join with them at Evensong at the Cathedral on Sunday 8th May.

We were given an enlightened talk as to how the Cathedral views itself in the city of Derby and its inclusiveness to all people.

Tea was provided for us in the Cathedral Café. This was followed by Evensong with members of the newly formed Deanery taking part in the Service.

The ‘Lost Sculpture’ of Ronald Pope The 'Lost Sculpture' of Ronald Pope - a lecture by Dr. Ronald Barstow, organised by The Friends of Melbourne Church will take place in Melbourne Parish Church on 16th June at 7:30 pm. Tickets are £5.00 on the door. Ronald Pope lived in Melbourne and our Church has three of his works. He undertook many commissions in public buildings in many of which have sadly now gone missing!

Where: Derby Cathedral, When: Wednesday 7th September, Time: 7:00 pm.

This will be an important moment of celebration and witness and an opportunity to join together in the continuing mission of the Diocese.
