AHS Bands Update – 4/30/2018 Hello Annandale Band Families,

Director’s notes: This is a very exciting week for us! Tomorrow night, the Wind Ensemble joins forces with Philharmonic Orchestra, Annandale Singers, and combined Women’s Choruses for our second Trilogy Concert. Please attend and invite your family, friends, and neighbors! On Friday, we are pleased to welcome The Ohio State University Symphonic Band for a concert for all band students and clinics with the Wind Ensemble. Please see the attached flier and attend one of their other performances if you are able.

Kudos To all associated with Annandale Theatre Company’s production, The Hunchback of Notre Dame. The performances were wonderful and it was a tremendous collaboration of Performing Arts students and teachers.

Concessions – We need your help! Please sign up to work a few shifts in the concessions stand for spring sports. We need everyone to pitch in just a little for this vital fundraiser that supports all band students. Sign up at: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/60b0f48a5a92daa8-2018

2018 Marching Band Student Leadership I am in the process of choosing the leadership team for the 2018 Marching Atoms. Students who have been selected to interview were notified via email on their FCPS Google email accounts. Interviews will take place this week and next. Drum Major audition information is forthcoming.

Commencement Band Each year, the AHS Band puts together an ensemble to play at commencement. Graduation is Thursday, June 7th, at 8 p.m. at D.A.R. Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. We will have a few rehearsals in addition to in-class preparation and then rehearse the day of graduation. Students will report to rehearsal at 4:30, dinner will and transportation will be provided, and we will return to AHS around 10:15 – 10:30 p.m. There will be a three hour late start to school the next day. I have attached the initial placements for this year’s commencement band. If your name is listed and you are unable to play, please let me know by the end of this week.
