Chiedetelo a Gigi Buffon, che ha sposato la Nazionale 13 anni fa e che il 10 settembre nella sua Torino (nella foto n°5 viene premiato dal presidente della Figc Abete) ha eggguagliato il record di 136 presenze in maglia azzurra di Fabio Cannavaro. Una storia d’amore iniziata nelle selezioni giovanili e sbocciata definitivamente in una fredda serata di ottobre in Russia, quando a soli 19 anni Gigi si alzò dalla panchina per sostituire Gianluca Pagliuca (foto n°1). Era l’andata dello spareggio di qualificazione al Mondiale del ’98 e la porta della Nazionale si sentì subito protetta da quel ragazzone dalla faccia pulita e dai riflessi formidabili. Il primo gol in Azzurro Buffon lo incassò quella sera su autorete di quel Cannavaro che, tredici anni più tardi, avrebbe visto eguagliare il suo record dall’amico e compagno di tante battaglie (Foto n°4). -

President of the Dutch Football Association since 1993, Mathieu Sprengers was elected to the UEFA Executive Committee at the UEFA Congress in London in 1996. In 2000, he took responsibility for UEFA’s finances as treasurer, an office that he held until 2007. In this capacity, he played a crucial role in UEFA’s solidarity policy, in particular by chairing the HatTrick Board, dealing with financial assistance to the national associations. Mathieu Sprengers was also one of the key figures of EURO 2000, co-hosted by Belgium and the Netherlands, and UEFA benefited enormously from the experience he acquired in this respect. In palio i punti per conquistare il diritto di finire nell’urna delle teste di serie in vista del sorteggio dell’Europeo, in programma il 30 novembre a Bucarest, e per migliorare ulteriormente il ranking FIFA verso il sorteggio delle qualificazione al mondiale 2022, che vede al momento l’Italia al 15° posto globale, 10a tra le Nazionali europee. Nelle prossime due gare, l’Italia indosserà il nuovo kit Away 2020, che unisce un design moderno ad un’ispirazione rinascimentale, integrandoli nella classica maglia bianca, seguendo l’ispirazione dell’ultimo kit Renaissance. Il CT Roberto Mancini ha convocato per le due gare un gruppo di 27 calciatori (sono 64 in totale i convocati nella sua gestione): prima chiamata per il difensore del Brescia Andrea Cistana, per il centrocampista della Fiorentina Gaetano Castrovilli e per l’attaccante del Bologna Riccardo Orsolini, quest’ultimo già convocato da Mancini in occasione dello stage dello scorso aprile. -

Had two spells with Iraklis sandwiching an eventful 2000/01 season at Panathinaikos, during which he led the Greens into the second group phase of the UEFA Champions League, eliminating Juventus and Hamburger SV en route. • Returned for a second spell at PAOK in 2002 and led them to Greek Cup success in his first season, beating local rivals Aris Thessaloniki FC 1-0 in the final.
