Freshmen Externship 2020 Program Host Organizations Listing rv. 10/7/19 Adult Care Consultants, Inc. * Adult Care Consultants, Inc. was established in 1992 as a refreshing approach to supporting individuals with a mental illness. Adult Care Consultants, Inc. values client-centered collaboration using trauma informed care that adapts to each person’s treatment goals. Our goal is to teach people tools to empower themselves and create opportunity out of challenges. Within Adult Care Consultants, Inc., there are 5 main programs: Adult Family Home, CBRF, Youth Group Home, Foster Home, Case Management, and Supportive Home Care. Location: Fond du Lac Preferred Majors: Psychology, Social Work, MH Nursing, Criminal Justice, and undeclared. Externship Activities: Learn about Forensic Case Management, Bonnie View Adult Family Home, Supportive Homecare, Group Home for Children & Children’s Level 5 Shift Staff Foster Home. Students will learn introductions to Trauma Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, Sensory Integration, Cycle of Security, DBT, etc. Students will then use their introductions to participate in affiliated organization tours, facilitate group sessions and social skills groups, interact in- home with clients, establish case studies, and tour additional external facilities including a Mental Health Institution and/or prison. ATI Physical Therapy offers customized therapy treatments in physical therapy, worker’s compensation rehabilitation, sports medicine, hand therapy, women’s health, specialty therapies, home health, fitness, and complimentary injury screenings. Locations: Fond du Lac, WI and New Lenox, IL 1 Preferred Majors: Exercise and Sport Science Externship Activities: Students will observe physical therapy of all age groups. Students will learn assessment and specialized treatment plans, types of physical conditions and injuries, how care plans are evaluated and modified to achieve best outcome, and day-to-day operations. For more than 100 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. As the nation’s largest donor-and volunteer-supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers and children. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people. Our staff consists of Match Support Specialists, Enrollment Coordinators, Office Manager and Executive Director. Our mission is to empower all young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens through academic, social and emotional support. We run afterschool programs and summer programs that serve youth in 1st-12th grade. Location: Fond du Lac Preferred Majors: Education, Community Health & Human Services, Social Work, Sport & Recreation, and Undeclared. Externship Activities: Orientation and introduction to the organization with the Director of Operations. Dedicated time spent with Chief Executive Officer and Director of Resource Development. Sit in on leadership team/staff meetings. Hands on experience in classroom and recreational spaces helping run activities for youth in all age groups. CESA 6 is a non-profit, member-driven cooperative educational service agency – thus part of our name is CESA. The services that we provide through CESA 6 to support our school districts are vast - ranging from business services, human resources, special education staffing and support, instructional/coaching, technology solutions, professional development, evaluations, continuous improvement strategies, and grant writing, to give you an overall idea. Our primary focus is supporting our school districts in their educational and instructional needs. Externship Activities: Activities for the externship may include: meet with CEO to learn our agency's mission, vision and core values and the roles of CESAs with school districts, one-on-one time with each of our division leaders (human resources, operations (business office and tech), academics and student services), and, depending on student’s field of interest, on-site shadowing opportunities, and dependent upon our schedule that week, and attend our cabinet meeting with our executive staff. We are one of 12 CESAs in Wisconsin. With offices headquartered in Oshkosh, WI CESA 6 serves 39 public school districts in Dodge, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Outagamie, Washington, Waupaca, Waushara, and Winnebago counties. At CESA 6, we keep our eye on the current education landscape, and think ahead (Smart Thinking that is!) to be proactive and responsive and meet the changing needs of the educators who use our services. We specialize in working with youth to develop and maintain healthy relationships within our community. We adapt to each child’s individual growth and provide smaller group sizes to ensure that they receive the attention they need and deserve. Our goal is to help these children develop specific skills, maintain and manage their emotions, graduate from their group, and ultimately, retain and implement the skills they have learned as they enter adulthood. Community Works offers two main services: individual skill building and emotional regulation & social skill groups.
