Beware of Mr. Baker“
Er verwendete u.a. zwei Bass-Drums.

Muff bliver pladeproducer. Gruppen fortsætter nogle år med ny besætning. -

Ginger Baker Jazz Confusion
Ginger Baker Jazz Confusion “The Musician least likely to survive the 60’s...” ..now on stage with Pee Wee Ellis, Alec Dankworth & Abass Dodoo. ‘Being a fan of Ginger Baker for 40 years I saw him again at the Old Market in Hove ... he plays better now than ever!’– Herman Rarebell, drummer of the Scorpions Ginger Baker Jazz Confusion - a powerhouse of Jazz & African Fusion - Ginger Baker Jazz Confusion They once voted Ginger Baker as 'the musician least likely to survive the 60s'. Now, four and a bit decades later, Ginger proved them all wrong, returned to the UK and formed a formidable quartet with funk and jazz giant Pee Wee Ellis, tenor sax, Alec Dankworth, bass, and Abass Dodoo, percussion. The music is a healthy mix of Thelonius Monk, Wayne Shorter, Sonny Rollins, plus originals of Pee Wee Ellis and Mr. Baker, a challenging and fresh sounding program! Ginger Baker and Ghanaian percussionist Abass Dodoo provide a perfect powerhouse of rhythms. After an extremely successful debut at Ronnie Scott's Club in London earlier this year, Ginger Baker Jazz Confusion continues with shows throughout UK and is now ready to play their highly charged mix of jazz, fusion and African sounds in theatres in Europe and the Middle and Far East. click & contact Ina Dittke & Associates for bookings now Hall of Fame - Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 1992 - - Grammy Lifetime Achievment Award 2005 - - Zildjian Top Drummer Award 2008 - - Modern Drummer Hall of Fame 2010 - - Classic Drummer Hall of Fame 2011 - Story Ginger Baker Ginger Baker’s recognition as a drummer began during the Graham Bond Organisation in the early sixties. -

Artículo / Artigo / Article An Interrogative Hermeneutics of Popular Song Allan F. Moore University of Surrey, UK [email protected] Abstract This article presents a methodology for the analytically-enriched discussion of meaning in recorded popular song. It argues for a middle way between assumptions of universal and entirely relativist meaning, based fundamentally on Gibson’s ecological psychology. It begins from the position that a listener encounters not a recording as communicable object, but a persona instantiated by a recording. Focus on the persona necessitates discussion of the personic environment constituted by the remainder of the musical fabric, and leads to a formulation of authenticity which acknowledges the weight put on this quality by many audiences. The paper then explores embodied meaning as a way of approaching the way that music feels, again acknowledging audience concern, and closes with a focus on the ecological position. Each of these stages in the argument is provided with a variety of illustrations. -
Ginger Baker's Jazz Confusion Hits Right Note at Cathedral Quarter
Ginger Baker’s Jazz Confusion hits right note at Cathedral Quarter MUSIC REVIEW: Ginger Baker @ Fesival Marquee, Belfast published 08.05.14 Don’t let people tell you that Ginger Baker is grumpy. With a droll wit and a tinder dry sense of humour, the 74 year-old drummer gave Belfast a night to remember, with his jazz fusion style in the band he calls Jazz Confusion, playing for a packed and hushed marquee, as part of Cathedral Quarter Arts festival. Jazz giant Pee Wee Ellis couldn’t make the gig, as he was having an operation on his lip - “a problem for a horn-player” said Baker wryly, whilst wishing him all the best. Fortunately, as he said “jazz musicians can read music” and so veteran sax-player Andy Sheppard was able to step in and do a sterling job, even after Baker introduced him as “Alan.” It seemed like the evening was faltering, when Baker also told us he didn’t have his normal drums and that his drum roadie was off, “doing an exam, or something.” But with his grinning Ghanaian “friend and bodyguard” Abass DoDoo on buoyant percussion to beat out an African rhythm, Baker relaxed into a physically gruelling set, showing many flashes of his old brilliance, when he was a member of supergroup Cream. “This one’s a mindblower, a Baker destroyer,” he’d growl and launch into Ginger Spice. Then another African vibe came to play, with a “song I wrote in Algeria, after I drove off the side of one of the Atlas mountains and ended up in an olive tree.” Visibly gasping for breath, he took a break, but returned in fine form, prompting a couple of shout-outs from the audience. -

Home Taping: Country Rock
Home Taping: Country Rock At the time of his death, Gram Parsons was in grave danger of being taken for granted. Although it was accepted that he had 'invented' the musical style known as Country Rock, this was simply being overlooked in a mass outbreak of droopy-moustached yee-hawism. Today it is called New Country and has become the fastest growing market in American popular music. The roots of Country Rock lie in the 1960s recordings of West Coast artists Buck Owens and His Buckaroos, Merle Haggard and The Strangers and the sublime pop- country songwriting of the (late) great Harlan Howard. This was known as the Bakersfield sound, where true-to-life songs and fast shuffle rhythms, often performed by musicians attired in flashy Western duds, caught the creative imagination of approximately one person: the young Gram Parsons. When Parsons founded The International Submarine Band in 1966, rock and roll was entering its progressive phase and the Nashville hit machine was at the peak of its powers - a diabolical climate in which to attempt a revolution. 28 years later we see Gram Parsons in his true light: a man alone with no precedent, no road map, just a vision that has at last begun to register with the record buying public. Today Gram Parsons’s spirit lives on in the music of Marty Stuart, Travis Tritt, Vince Gill. And twenty-something years ago, awestruck by the imports in the windows of London's One Stop or Musicland, a small throng of fans were also travelling without a road map. -
