THE HEARTLAND BBC REPORT Glad Tidings of Good Things By Jeff Copes, Heartland BBC Executive Vice-President

The May 2006 Graduation Fellowship Week was a great meeting filled with good fellowship, godly music, and of course, spirit-filled preaching. Each message was timely and came straight from the Lord. (A complete set of the messages can be purchased by contacting the school.) And the meeting was well attended: the campus “gymatorium” was full each morning, and the crowd that filled the sanctuary at Southwest Baptist Church grew each evening. By Thursday night the church was “packed out” for the 2006 Commencement Service. It was a blessing to witness the graduation of 81 well-prepared soldiers. The new Chapel Auditorium project has received the green light! Bro. Davison introduced the vision of the new chapel building in his message on Wednesday morning, just prior to the annual May Offering. Earlier in the week, the College Executive Committee and Board of Directors voted to allow the Administration to proceed with this much-needed project. The plan is to raise approximately $2,000,000 in the next two years, intending to then break ground and raise the remaining funds as the construction process progresses. The planned building specifications are as follows: 30,500 square feet; 1,300 seat auditorium with a balcony; four expandable large classrooms; and a $3,000,000 total estimated cost. During the Friends of Heartland business meeting, a detailed plan was presented explaining how to help raise the project funds, followed by an official vote to proceed with the project. In addition to the regular monthly and May Offering support, the administration introduced two fund-raising projects to help pay for the new chapel building. It is requested that all churches in support of the college introduce one or both of these projects to their members as soon as possible. The two projects are: 1) the Annual “Coffee Change” Drive; and 2) the Annual “Purchase a Square Foot” Drive. Please watch your mail for more details regarding these programs; and if you have any questions, please feel free to call me personally. Praise God, the 2006 May Offering goal ($650K) was surpassed with a total commitment of over $656,000 (including $400,000 cash-in-hand) through the giving of over 250 churches. These monies, together with regular monthly support (from most of the same churches), directly underwrite approximately 42% of the total cost to educate a Heartland student. We are so very thankful to the Lord for every church and each individual that supports the school prayerfully and financially. I assure you that every dollar is needed and makes a difference in the normal, ongoing operations of the school. We praise the Lord for all of these blessings, and we look forward to a great new school year of service for the Lord beginning in August. ñ ó
