Hello to my Oregon Masonic Family! This summer has been a whirlwind of fun and Jobie bonding. Grand Session was in the words of the ninth Doctor FANTASTIC! It was exciting to see Mrs. Horn, Mr. Douglas, and Alexis installed. I began my new journey with my new team. Our first big adventure together was Supreme Session in Spokane, WA. I had only been to Supreme one other time so with a lot excitement and nervousness I headed out for Spokane. Arriving in Spokane was like arriving at the center of Jobie world; there was so much to take in. All of the countries that have Job’s Daughters were represented at Supreme this year. (US, Canada, The Philippines, Brazil and Australia) Being able to gather ideas from our sisters around the globe is always an amazing opportunity. I got lucky number 17 as my contestant number for the Miss International Pageant 2014. I met a wonderful group of young ladies and they each touched me in a special way. I made new friends and memories that I won’t soon forget. I wanted to thank the whole of the Oregon Jurisdiction for all of your love and support. I am proud that I was able to tie for Miss Congeniality and to bring Oregon into the spotlight at Supreme. Miss Congeniality is a great honor being chosen by my fellow Miss contestants for this award. Oregon’s pageant is fast approaching us and I am in the heat of planning it. I hope that many of you can attend on October 12 at the Al Kader Shrine Center at 2 pm. I am still accepting feminine hygiene products and new women’s underwear for woman’s homeless shelters up to the day of the pageant. Thank you to all who have donated shampoo, conditioner and soaps I have such a great supply of these items. I still want to make plans to meet each Bethel in Oregon to be there when you donate to the women’s shelters. The reception of Grand Royal Matron Mrs. Currie and Grand Royal Patron Mr. Nielson in North Bend, OR was well-attended and very fun. I had the pleasure to attend with our team Mrs. Horn, Mr. Douglas and GBHQ Alexis Horn. We all had a lot of fun with the ocean and mermaid theme. I hope that everyone’s summer was wonderful and full of fun and as we gear up to go back to school and back to our regular meeting season that we remember that all of us are the fairest in the land. Chelsea Phelps Miss Oregon Job’s Daughter 2013-2014 PHQ #1 (Insert British accent here) September 2014 Ello Oregon Jobies, I am so excited to see what this year will bring! Congratulations too all of the 2014-2015 Grand Bethel officers and choir members, Grand Bethel council members, Grand Guardian Council members and committee members. August 2nd I was able to attend the East-West Shrine game that was held in Baker City, Oregon. Every year this event is held to help raise money for the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital. I’ve gotta say it was an experience I will not forget. The Shriners welcomed Grand Guardian Mrs. Horn, Grand Bethel Sr. Princess Samantha Beers and me with open arms. We all got to ride in the parade on a beautiful 1959 Corvette and I was introduced on the field during the pre-game along with many other dignitaries from other Masonic organizations. I also had the pleasure of attending this year’s annual Supreme Session that was held up in Spokane, Washington. It was so much fun to see old friends and meet new ones from all around the world. I was so excited to see Oregon’s representation this year at supreme. This experience is not one to be taken for granted. I would like to congratulate Mr. John Coulter who was installed as Vice Associate Supreme Guardian, Josephine Caudillo as Supreme Bethel Recorder, Emily Pierson Supreme Bethel Representative to Moto Grosso (Brazil), and Kayleigh Pierson Supreme Bethel Representative to Virginia. I would also like to give huge congratulations to Miss Oregon Job’s Daughter and Miss International Congeniality Job’s Daughter Chelsea Phelps! She did such a lovely job representing our state as MOJD. As summer is coming to a close, Official Visits are approaching fast. I can’t wait to begin my travels and see everyone! The Miss Oregon Job’s Daughter pageant is coming up on October 12th in Wilsonville. Pageants are so much fun whether you are in it or just spectating. I encourage everyone to go, attend and support our outgoing and new incoming Miss. It is always a blast! Also, get ready to pack your bags and travel through time for Oregon’s leadership camp 2014 at Camp Namanu in Sandy, Oregon October 24th-25th. (Fun fact: Rider Strong who played Shawn Hunter in ‘Boy Meets World’ was just recently married at Camp Namanu.) It will certainly be out of this world! “The Universe is big. It’s vast and complicated and ridiculous. And sometimes, very rarely, impossible things just happen and we call them miracles.” – The Doctor Allons-y, Alexis Horn GBHQ 2014-2015 Grand Guardian Council of Oregon August 25, 2014 Summer sure seemed to disappear quickly this year. I hope everyone got a chance to enjoy something fun this summer! I saw several enjoying ice water. Some enjoyed the water more than once! At Supreme Session in Spokane Washington, Our Miss Oregon Job’s Daughter, Chelsea Phelps was selected as Miss Congeniality! We are all so proud of her accomplishments this year! Mr. John Coulter was elected to serve as Vice Associate Supreme Guardian, Way to go Mr. Coulter!! Josephine Caudillo was picked as the Supreme Bethel Recorder and two were picked as Supreme Bethel Representatives to other Jurisdictions, They are: -Emily Pierson, Supreme Representative to Mato Grosso -Kayleigh Pierson, Supreme Representative to Virginia As we receive letters from other Jurisdictions as Representatives to Oregon, please be sure to send letters back. It is important that they receive responses from us. We want to be in their reports as a great Jurisdiction to correspond with, because all of you girls are lots of fun! Plus, it is lots of fun to meet other Job’s Daughters around the World. What a great way to do it! We’re looking forward to Leadership Camp in October and have lots of talented adults and Daughters who will be conducting the classes. It is in Sandy Oregon this year at Camp Namanu!!! It is a fabulous camp, and I’m sure it will be a Journey you won’t forget! I wonder if there will be a Dr. Who or few, or a TARDIS to explore? I do know there will be fun and helpful learning opportunities in becoming a leader of this beautiful Organization. Please don’t forget that Official Visits will be starting soon. We are all looking forward to meeting with all of the Daughters and Councils and we want to emphasize again that we are here to help and assist you with in making your Bethels run smoothly and that everyone looks forward to all of our functions together! Finally, Mr. Douglas and I want to thank everyone for making Grand Session so beautiful. It wouldn’t have been as beautiful without all the Daughters present and Adults to help with all the details and assistance. I am so excited to see all of the Grand Bethel in their look-a-like dresses this year and new purple robes! You will all take fabulous and spectacular to a new level of breathtaking! We are excited that Nick Smith has agreed to assist the EGGC. Nick is a PAGG pro-teming as Vice Associate Grand Guardian. You will see him on the move along with Janet Hernandez our VGG this year! Thank you Nick! Please remember when you are doing fundraising for Job’s Daughter activities, no matter if it is local, state or international, that all fundraising needs to go through the Bethel Guardian Council. It is important for bookkeeping and keeping your fundraisers legitimate if you and the Bethel are ever Kristie Horn, Grand Guardian Anna Lamb, Grand Secretary Dan Douglas, Associate Grand Guardian PO Box 3946, Wilsonville, OR 97070 [email protected] investigated.
