DAVIS (Under the Direction of John Weaver) ABSTRACT In this study, I write about the emotional journey of high school athletic coaches’ experiences as they move through their day as teachers, coaches, and spouses/parents. The examination of the emotions and transitions high school coaches experience has been largely unresearched. There have been examinations of teachers, the impact coaches have on athletes, and a coach as a parent, but there is not extensive research on all three roles experienced by one person. High school athletics is a tremendous part of high school, and coaches have a tremendous impact not only on their players, but on the students they teach in the classroom as well. Coaches are often more visible and identifiable than the administration. -

J. Ross Opening Ennouncement Boys and Girls, Did You
10/3/48 - J. Ross Opening ennouncement Ni Boys and girls, did you ever hear the famous legend of the Trojan Horse? It's a story that goes way back to ancient times. Thousands of years ago, the Greeks and the Trojans had a war, For ten yeare the Greeks besieged the city of Troy, but they couldn't force their way inside. Yinally they resorted to trick- ery, They built this phony horee. It was a huge statue, made of wood and hollow inside. In the hollow part the Greeks hid their best warriors. Then they told the Trojans "Hey, we're your friends. See, here a nice present for you, Open your gates and take it inside the city." Well, the Trojans were a bunch of saps. They fell for the gag. They couldn't resist this beautiful statue that their enemies were handing 'em for free. Rut the minute they dragged the horse inside the city, out popped the Greek soldiers. And that was the and of the city of Troy. Even today, boys and girls, we still use the expression 'trojan horse". When an outside enemy poses as a friend and tries to beat us by means of a iy trick, we say he'a using "trojan horse taotics". For instanoe, the troublemakers who want to weaken our country. They use very special trojan hone tactice. They invent a lot of falsehoods about the different racial and religious groups who live in our country. They dress up these falsehoods vith fancy oateleword slogans. Then they sidle up to some unsus- pecting fellow and pretend to have his welfare at heart. -

Jacobs Destiny
Jacobs Destiny (A Screenplay, by John Shields) [email protected] (619) 433-9477 Copyright pending Overview Larry and Shelly Wyatt are late middle-aged and childless when Shelly becomes pregnant. After the birth of their son, Jacob, they move from California to New Zealand to raise their son in a quiet, peaceful, small town environment. While in New Zealand, they establish the “Jacobs Destiny” vineyard and winery. At a very young age, Jacob falls in love with baseball and decides that he is going to be a Major League Baseball player. Jacobs’ hero is Dodgers’ left-handed hall-of-fame pitcher, Sandy Koufax. Although naturally right-handed, Jacob teaches himself to pitch both left- handed and right-handed. At age 17, Jacob is drafted by the San Diego Padres, spends a few months in the Padres’ minor league system under the constant tutelage of baseball great Lou Piniella, is called- up to the San Diego Padres and leads the Padres to their first ever World Series Championship. Jacobs Destiny is a pure baseball story. The developing familial relationships of Lou and Anita Piniella and the Wyatt family as Jacob progresses from minor league star to World Series Champion is told by Chris Berman and Harris Faulkner. Opening Scene Chris Berman – As previously announced, we have made a schedule change today in order to bring you a very special documentary presentation. The last century has seen some dramatic changes in competitive sports. Many of those changes can be directly attributed to the effect of television and money on the athletes. Some of those changes came as a result of the dominance of a Page 1 of 178 single player on his or her sport. -

EMPIRICAL INQUIRY TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AFTER THE LAWYERING PROCESS RICHARD K. NEUMANN, JR. & STEFAN H. KRIEGER* One of the many ways in which The Lawyering Process was a pioneering book was its extensive reliance on empirical research about lawyers, lawyering, and activities analogous to some or another aspect of lawyering. To what extent has the clinical field accepted Gary Bellow and Bea Moulton's invitation to explore empirical stud- ies generated outside legal education and perhaps engage in empirical work ourselves to understand lawyering more deeply? Although some clinicians have done good empirical work, our field as a whole has not really accepted Gary and Bea's invitation. This article ex- plains empirical ways of thinking and working; discusses some of the mistakes law scholars (not only clinicians) make when dealing with empirical work; explores some of the reasons why empiricism has encountered difficulty in law schools; and suggests that empiricism might in some ways improve our teaching in clinics. -
Super ACRONYM 2 - Round 12
Super ACRONYM 2 - Round 12 1. A grocery list seen in this show's opening sequence only lists three items: "milk; eggs; drugs." On this show, various outlandish celebrity demands were presented by an effete personal assistant named Terrence Catheter, the grandson of Elmer Higgins. Most of this show was produced in Nevada to exploit an exception to a 1968 (*) crime control law. In a segment that has aged unbelievably poorly, a teenaged character in this show becomes extremely excited upon seeing he has gotten an email. A British earl named Niles Standish, the Tracy Morgan-voiced Spoonie Luv, and the wildly offensive Special Ed all appeared on, for 10 points, what Comedy Central series in which puppets reenacted prank calls? ANSWER: Crank Yankers <Vopava> 2. Rafael Belliard was shoved away by a fellow coach during an argument following this event. The day after this event, its central figure was given a free Corvette and tasked with presenting a lineup card. That figure of this event earned a lineup spot after a trade of Dontrelle Willis. Another man central to this game claimed "I kicked the shit out of it" (*) regarding his actions, which led to a meaningless proclamation given by Jennifer Granholm. An over-the-shoulder catch by Austin Jackson began the ninth inning of this 2010 game, whose central figure covered first base on a Jason Donald ground ball fielded by Miguel Cabrera. Jim Joyce was despondent following, for 10 points, what game in which a blown call spoiled a rare feat by a Detroit Tigers pitcher? ANSWER: Armando Galarraga's near-perfect game (accept any answer describing both Armando (Antonio) Galarraga Barreto and a one-hitter or 28-out perfect game or imperfect game or blown call or losing a perfect game in the 9th inning or similar; accept answers like Jim Joyce's blown call) <Nelson> 3.
