Propuesta de Modelo para la Gestión de la Investigación y Extensión Agropecuaria: Particularidades para la EEPF "Indio Hatuey". Con la irrupción del Sistema de Ciencia e Innovación Tecnológica, a mediado de los años 90, se producen un conjunto de cambios en el sector científico cubano como la utilización del proyecto como unidad básica de investigación que incorpora elementos de competitividad, la factibilidad técnico- económica, el análisis del mercado, la proyección a mediano y largo plazo de las instituciones científicas, las actividades de interfase investigación-producción, la búsqueda de indicadores que evalúan el proceso científico, así como la potenciación de la Gestión Tecnológica, que le da el mayor peso a la empresa. Sin embargo aún no existe un modelo concreto que permita la gestión de la Investigación y la Extensión (I & E) en instituciones científicas agropecuarias. Esta situación motivó a desarrollar un modelo que brinde un marco conceptual-metodológico para la gestión de la I & E en la EEPF "Indio Hatuey", el cual partió de un análisis crítico de la gestión de la industria y lo servicios, así como de la investigación agropecuaria. Dicho modelo comienza con un análisis de la organización y del entorno, así como de una previsión de las necesidades de investigación y capacitación que existirán en los próximos diez años para posteriormente comenzar un proceso de planificación en la cual juegan un papel importante los diagnósticos agrosocioeconómicos de los sistemas productivos, la investigación en fincas y el criterio de los productores, investigadores y extensionistas. A este proceso de planificación le continúa el seguimiento y la evaluación para cerrar el ciclo, brindándose herramientas para ello y considerando una evaluación del impacto productivo, socioeconómico, organizacional y ambiental, así como del grado de adopción. Por último para facilitar la gestión interna del proceso de I & E y conocer el nivel de excelencia se aplicó el EOI por vez primera en un centro científico, obteniéndose 57.7 %, lo cual es un valor muy favorable para las condiciones de Cuba. Model proposal for the Management of Agricultural Research and Extension: Particularities for EEPF "Indio Hatuey". With the introduction of Science and Technologic Innovation System, at middle of 90's, is generated a combination of changes in the cuban scientific sector such as the utilization of project as basic unit of research that incorporate elements of competitivity, the technic-economic feasibility, the market analysis, the medium and large term projection of scientific institutions, the activities of research- production interfase, the search of indicators to evaluate the scientific process, as well as the potentiation of Technologic Management, wich supply a great importance to interprise. However, still don't exist a specific model what allow us the Research and Extension (R & E) Management in Agricultural Scientific Institutions. This situation motivated a model development which offers a theoretical-metodologic framework for the R & E Management in the Experimental Station of Pastures and Fourage "Indio Hatuey", begining of a critical analysis in the industry and services as well as agricultural research. This model start with an analysis of organisation and context as well as a prevision of research and training necessities what will exist in the next tenth years, for future planning process where play an important place the agrosocioeconomics diagnosis of production systems, the farm research and the criterion of farming, researches and extensionists. This planning process follows the monitoring and evaluation for closing the cycle, providing tools and considerating an evaluation of productive, socioeconomic, organisational and environmental impact as well as the adoption rate in the practical situation. Lastly and making easier the internal management of R & E process and to know the excelence level is applied the EOI for first time in a scientific center, finding out a 57.7 %, favorable value for Cuba's conditions. Ground or air surveys or both were conducted at all identified potential areas and locations previously reported in the literature. We define the current distribution as 10 separate localities in six provinces and the estimated total number of cranes at 526 individuals for the country. Two populations reported in the literature were no longer present and two localities not previously reported were discovered. The actual number of cranes at two localities was not possible to evaluate due to their rarity. Only four areas (Isle of Youth, Matanzas, Ciego de Avila, and Sancti Spiritus) each support more than 70 cranes.

Bearded, skinny, strained. Most are asleep in attitudes of exhaustion. One, awake, stares in despair at the state of his boots. Pack animals are tethered nearby. MORO, Cuban, thickly bearded, clad in the ubiquitous fatigues, prepares coffee over a smoking fire. "CHE" GUEVARA, Revolutionary Commandant and leader of this expedition, hunches wheezing over his journal - a cherry- coloured, plastic-covered agenda. Unable to sleep, CHE waits for the coffee to relieve his ASTHMA. CHE is bearded, 39 years old. A LIGHT flickers on the far side of the ravine. MORO Shit. A light -- ANGLE ON RAUL A Bolivian, picking up his M-1 rifle. RAUL Who goes there? VOICE Trinidad Detachment -- GUNFIRE BREAKS OUT. RAUL is firing across the river at the light. Incoming bullets whine through the camp. EVERYONE is awake and in a panic. ANGLE ON POMBO CHE's deputy, a tall Black Cuban, helping the weakened CHE aboard a horse. CHE's asthma worsens as the bullets fly. CHE Chino! The supplies! 3 ANGLE ON CHINO Chinese-Peruvian, round-faced and bespectacled, rounding up the frightened mounts. OTHER MEN load the horses with supplies - lashing them insecurely in their haste. It's getting light. SOLDIERS of the Bolivian Army can be seen across the ravine, firing through the trees. POMBO leads CHE's horse away from the gunfire.

Así de escueta es la definición final que la editora de estas memorias ofrece del personaje que las relata. Parece evocar la manera en que se definía uno de los protagonistas claves de la Revolución Francesa para resumir los méritos de su propia participación: el Abate Sieyès, cuando la misma había terminado su ciclo histórico: “Sobreviví” ( “J’ai véçu”). Y es que, por lo visto, tratándose de revoluciones, haber participado en una de ellas, y haberla sobrevivi- do, es ya un mérito formidable. “Benigno”, el nombre de guerra con el que figura en el diario del Ché en Bolivia; o Dariel Alarcón Ramírez, como figura en el pasaporte francés como asilado político; o Dariel Roselló Ramírez, como debería haberse llamado este hijo de militar español y criolla cubana, si las circunstancias no lo hubiesen separado de sus padres en la primera infancia; es pues, ante todo un sobreviviente. Condición que impresiona más si se tiene en cuenta que al triunfo de la Revolución no inicia un ascenso en cargos de responsabilidad política, pues su analfabetismo sumado a una ingenuidad campesina –guajira– se lo impiden, sino que es asignado a las misiones más difíciles para las que ya fuere Camilo Cienfuegos, o el Ché Guevara, o el propio Fidel, lo consideran especialmente dotado dada sus cualidades de hombre de guerra, probadas desde las primeras acciones en las que toma parte.
