Retos de una Ciudad Educadora El XI CONGRESO INTERNACIONAL DE CIUDADES EDUCADORAS bajo el título “Deporte, Políticas Públicas y Ciudadanía. Retos de una Ciudad Educadora”, a celebrarse en la ciudad de Guadalajara durante los días 22, 23, 24 y 25 de abril de 2010, tiene como principal objetivo generar conocimiento compartido sobre el deporte y sus interdependencias con la convivencia democrática, la educabilidad, la sociabilidad, la salud pública, el bienestar, el desarrollo humano y en suma, el ejercicio de la ciudadanía como prioridad en las políticas públicas. En el plano de la convivencia humana, la progresiva y veloz urbanización del mundo es posiblemente el hecho más significativo en el presente siglo. En la medida que las ciudades constituyen los principales escenarios de la experiencia social, cultural, económica y política, se convierten en terreno privilegiado para la educación de los ciudadanos en sus más diversos planos. Así lo ha reconocido de manera explícita la Asociación Internacional de Ciudades Educadoras que desde hace ya casi veinte años promueve el derecho a la ciudad educadora, el cual es inherente a todos los estratos y grupos de la población.
