The following COVID-19 precautions apply to all admissions, parents/carers and visitors to Allowah

We continue to adjust our visiting and admission restrictions in light of advice from New South Wales Health. Effective immediately, the following will apply.

Can I visit Allowah?

1. No. From 6pm 26 June 2021 until restrictions ease, there will be no visitors allowed at Allowah. The only exceptions are for parents and carers on compassionate or essential care grounds. These visits must be approved in advance by the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) following a risk assessment.

If you arrive at Allowah without prior approval from the ELT you will be denied access. You must call at least 24 hours in advance so that a risk assessment can be conducted before you come. We send an email detailing any changes to the Screening Form each time a change takes place. Special conditions will be placed on any parent or carer given access under these provisions and these must be adhered to. Staff will be advised for each individual visit what these conditions are.

Visiting Clearance If the ELT conducts a risk assessment and the conclusion is that visiting will be authorised in line with NSW Health guidelines, you will be sent a letter that outlines the decision and the visiting requirements. You must show this letter to the Allowah staff member conducting your COVID-19 Screening temperature check on arrival. Please note, access may be revoked if NSW Health advises changes to restrictions. If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know.

Essential care visitors are prohibited if they live in the following local government areas: • Canterbury/ Bankstown • Parramatta • Fairfield • Campbelltown • Cumberland • Georges River • Liverpool • Penrith LGA suburbs of: Caddens, • Blacktown Claremont Meadows, Colyton,

All essential care visits for other LGAs are to be approved in advance by a member of the ELT.

Can my child come to the School Holiday or Weekend Day program?

2. Not as a day program. Our School Holiday and weekend day programs have been cancelled for children not admitted to the hospital due to the lockdown in place from 26 June 2021 until restrictions ease. Children admitted to Allowah for overnight stays may still take part in the School Holiday and Weekend Programs.

Can my child be admitted to Allowah?

3. Yes, providing they meet the screening criteria.

Admissions are allowed for medical reasons and for respite on the condition that the child meets the criteria on the Admission Screening form. Parents and carers admitting a child must truthfully declare that they and the child have not been to any of the specific locations listed, that they are not waiting on the results of a COVID-19 test result, that they do not have and have not had any of COVID-19 symptoms in the past 14 days, and that they have not been in close contact with anyone who has been to any of the locations listed, who is waiting on the results of a COVID-19 test or who has had COVID-19 in the past 14 days. They and their child must also have their temperature checked and it must be below 37.5 degrees.

4. No admission will be made for a child excluded by the Admission Screening Form at the time of admission.

5. If you live in any restricted LGAs they cannot be admitted. If your child has already been admitted they can stay, if they go home, they cannot return at present until the restrictions change. Currently restricted LGAs include:

No gate passes are to be granted for children going to Canterbury/Bankstown, Fairfield, Cumberland, Liverpool, Blacktown, Parramatta, Campbelltown and Georges River

6. If you or your child have been to any of the case locations in the following States and Territories they cannot be admitted: Western Australia COVID-19 case locations There are currently multiple COVID-19 case locations in the Western Australia (WA). If you have been in WA in the last 14 days regularly check the list of COVID-19 venues of concern on the WA Government website and follow the public health requirements for testing and self-isolation.

Victorian COVID-19 case locations There are multiple COVID-19 case locations in Victoria. If you have been in Victoria since the 5th of August 2021 and have not received a negative test result you cannot come to work. Regularly check the growing list of COVID-19 venues of concern on the Victorian Government website and follow the public health requirements for testing and self-isolation.

Queensland COVID-19 case locations If you have been in Queensland in the last 14 days regularly check the list of COVID-19 venues of concern on the Queensland Government website and follow the public health requirements for testing and self- isolation.

Australian Capital Territory case locations There are multiple COVID-19 case locations in Australian capital Territory. If you have been in the ACT since the 5th of August 2021 and have not received a negative test result you cannot come to work. Regularly check the growing list of COVID-19 venues of concern on the ACT Government website and follow the public health requirements for testing and self-isolation.

New Zealand case locations If you have been in New Zealand in the last 14 days regularly check the list of COVID-19 venues of concern on the New Zealand Government website and follow the public health requirements for testing and self- isolation.

If you or your child have been in close contact with someone who has worked at or visited any of the above locations, they cannot be admitted.

9. If your child has had a fever, cough, sore/scratchy throat, shortness of breath/difficulty in breathing, chills, body aches, muscle pain, vomiting, nausea, runny nose, nose congestion, loss of taste or smell, fatigue, headache, diarrhea, conjunctivitis, rash on skin, chest pain, loss of speech, discolouration of fingers or toes, in the last 14 days they cannot be admitted.

What happens when I get to Allowah for an admission?

11. Parents / carers must always be present when a child is admitted to Allowah. We will not accept admissions where the child is brought to Allowah by someone who cannot make the necessary declarations and complete the admission form. This includes children arriving by school bus or in a taxi from home. Exceptions to this provision must be approved in advance by a member of the Executive Leadership Team and will be made in exceptional circumstances only. This exception will be advised to the Manager Administration and the RN in Charge.

12. Our external doors are locked. Please buzz at the front door for entry. You may only enter through the front door where you will be met and screening will be completed. If you need to use the ramp for access you will then be given access to enter through the doors at the base of the ramp.

13. Only the minimum number of people possible are to enter the building to complete the admission. Admissions will take place at the front of the hospital rather than in the ward area.

14. You must complete the Admission Screening Form. You and anyone who is with you must complete the Visitor Screening Form. Allowah is committed to safeguarding the privacy of patient information and has implemented measures to comply with its obligations under the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002. For further information please refer to our Privacy Policy.

15. You must ‘check in’ using the QR code provided. The COVID Safe Check-in tool allows customers, staff and visitors to check in at businesses across NSW, and helps organisations to remain COVID safe and meet requirements for the accurate collection of customer contact details. This data protects the community in allowing contact tracing by NSW Health.

Some reminders about wearing a mask

• Perform hand hygiene before and after touching the mask

• Ensure that when applying the mask it is fitted properly, covering your mouth, nose and chin – and adjust to your face

• Avoid touching the mask once in place: i.e. do not lower/raise/take off one side to eat, drink, talk, blow your nose, put on lip balm

• Change the mask if moist, soiled or contaminated and discard the mask immediately and perform hand hygiene DO NOT

• Do not touch the front of your mask

• Do not wear the mask only over your mouth or only over your nose

• Do not leave the mask hanging around your neck or on top of your head

• Do not re-use a disposable mask
