London, June, 2021 - The UK’s first end-to-end online car maintenance service Fixter.co.uk has released a study revealing which cars are driven by English Premier League players. As natural sports fans, Fixter was interested in the relationship between footballers and their cars, so set out to discover which brands its most-loved players drive, as well as how many minutes each footballer needs to play in order to earn enough to afford their most-expensive model.

How the study was conducted: Focusing on the English Premier League, the research analysed the top players from this season based on their annual salary and the position they play to compile a list of almost 150 footballers from all 20 teams. Every possible lead and source was investigated to determine exactly which cars each player owns, including media clippings, the players’ own social media accounts and fan websites.

As most footballers own multiple cars, the results were split into two tables. The first focuses on their most expensive model and utilises data on the car price and each player’s annual salary to calculate how many minutes each footballer must be on the field in order to afford his car, as well as the number of games this correlates to. The second table of results reveals the entire identifiable car fleet of each player, illustrating the most popular brands among footballers.

Please find the two full tables of data and detailed methodology on the results page: https://www.fixter.co.uk/footballers-cars Findings:

Quotes

“What we loved most about this study in the Fixter office were the correlations between the positions that footballers play and the kinds of cars they own. For instance, that Defenders favour SUVs and Forwards drive the most Sports Cars are great examples of how people’s nature is reflected in their possessions. Kind of like how it’s said that dogs often resemble their owners, we’re fascinated to see how footballers are mirrored in their car choices!” comments Limvirak Chea, CEO at Fixter.

“Footballers set the trend for so many things such as fashion, hairstyles and homes, but as our passion lies with everything to do with automobiles, what we wanted to find out is what brands our favourite players love the most.” comments Limvirak Chea, CEO at Fixter. “It’s fascinating to see how different teams favour different brands, such as Manchester United players and their Range Rovers, or Arsenal players and their Lamborghinis.”

“You often read headlines about the enormous salaries footballers earn, but it can be hard to visualise what this means in real terms to the average fan. By illustrating how many minutes a player needs to be on the pitch to afford their most expensive car, it’s much easier to envision. Not many of us could say that three hours of work would be enough to afford a Mercedes or a Bentley!” says Limvirak Chea, CEO at Fixter.
