In 1865 he erected a five bedroom main house in the Greek Revival-style with Romanesque embellishments as well as commodious barns. His family retained ownership until 1901. The entire farm is laced with farm roads and field delineating stone walls. From upper fields untrammeled views obtain of the entire Taconic Range including the dark prominence of Mount Everett (elevation 2,608’), Catamount, the Catskill Mountains to the west, interior terraced and interconnecting fields as well as large adjoining estates that include a 600± acre assemnblage to the west.
