Answers given by less than 5 respondents have been omitted from the above charts.

Binley Woods Parish Plan Main Questionnaire 6 Section H – And Finally… Questions H5: Have you any other comments you would like to make? Comments made in this section that relate to either specific questions or particular topics covered elsewhere in the questionnaire have been included in the analysis of the relevant question / section. Here are the remaining responses:  A big thank you to the doers  Although I am not able to become involved, it is great to see people are taking time to care about the village.  As I work I do not have time to use the village facilities, the hall, buses, library as much as I would like. But as I'm retiring next year I hope to be a more active member of the community.  As our children attended C of E School, we spent a lot of our 'family social time' in Wolston. They have a definite village identity which I feel we lack here in Binley Woods. I feel we need more open, free events which are very inclusive to encourage all residents to feel part of a village community. Eg village barbeque, Christmas tree event, etc.  As we work full-time we are not able to use many of the facilities available in the village. It would be nice for people who work if more events were available in the evenings. We are retailers so we work on Saturday as well and thus unavailable to attend such events as the open day.  Can road noise from A46 be reduced?  Decorated / lighted Christmas tree to compete with Wolston village.  Do more in the village. We used to do loads of things in the village that we don't do now. We could have jubilee events, Halloween and Christmas parties for children. Get young involved in the village events.  Elm Close lets the area down.  Elm Close needs improvement on the garage areas. I know residents are being ripped off by Havering Management Ltd (London).  Ensure retirement bungalows (Coombe Drive area) are for the elderly and not sold on (as one or two have been).  Good luck, and thanks to those members of our community who are dealing with these questionnaires. A lot of hard work for some.  Have lived here 7 years and don't plan to move - ever.  Hope this will help to enhance our village and preserve it for future generations. Thanks.  I appreciate the dedication of these residents to spare their time to care for our village and it's future. Thank you.  I believe ex Rose Gardens should be turned into a sports venue ie Alan Higgs/Goals  I do believe that the car wash on Rugby Road is not only an eyesore but on busy periods causes traffic congestion and also degrades the area  I just wanted to say I disagree with the Chairman, who was quoted in the free paper as saying people of Binley Woods would not mind being classed as Coventry. I do mind. This is . Always has been.  I love my community. I am very concerned about the number of 'buy to lets' in Elm Close which is destroying the local community. Short terms lets, with lack of engagement to the community, lack of maintenance of flats, 'social' problems with problem tenants - drug dealing, theft, protection services.  I think there should be a marked walk taking in Binley Woods (Roseycombe - enter back of recreation ground) - Brandon Lane to Royal Oak - Brandon Wood (back of Brandon Hall) - Binley Woods return to Roseycombe.  If Broad Street Rugby Club fails to prosper what would happen to that building and land? How would the village be able to prevent gypsies moving onto that space?  I'm grateful for the stewardship of the Parish Council and their thoughtful improvements (keeping verges trimmed, eco-lighting, their advice on planning applications, tree-planting, recreation ground improvements, etc).  Improve the look behind the shops in Woodlands Road by making shopkeepers and residents above responsible for rubbish around bins.  Improvements to Elm Close. Knock down garages to create large car park.  It is worth protecting.

Binley Woods Parish Plan Main Questionnaire 7 Section H – And Finally…  Let's inform residents and try to encourage ownership or guardianship of our roads and village. Let's make people proud to be part of this community. We live here but we are only looking after it.  Let’s make Binley Woods more attractive by having raised flower beds at the entrances to the village and by planting shrubs and trees in key locations and spring bulbs along the Rugby Road and on our side of the island.  More community events - open air cinema night etc. Jubilee day was great, brought people together with only one thing in common - Binley Woods.  My wife and I often walk to B&Q, Morrisons shopping and often get sprayed with water/mist etc from car wash. Could you tell them to tidy up their act or put some kind of shield up to protect the general public walking past.  Need more road sweepers, especially autumn.  Need to encourage upkeep of houses, particularly frontages. Eliminate scrapheaps in front gardens. Restrict parking of commercial vehicles on road and off road. Encourage shops to discourage litter drops outside their premises and be made responsible for daily clean up.  No, but thanks for the opportunity to give feedback about where we live.  People make the difference to where we live. Supporting the action / go get people is important.  People should take more pride in how their own property looks and help any elderly people keep theirs tidy like they used to.  Please when undertaking repairs, can they be completed once and to good quality. The repaired fence at village green is not a good job - would rather pay more and get job done well.  Protect the grass verges everywhere  Residents should not be allowed to keep cockerels in back gardens which cause nuisance to adjacent neighbours. Cockerels are being kept by our neighbour who continues to ignore a Noise Abatement Order issued by the Council. The Council are not prepared to enforce the order by court action (cost???) so the nuisance continues.  So happy to be living here and proud to know so many lovely people in shops, chemist and Post Office, and so lucky to have such loving, caring and helpful neighbours.  Thank you for all you do  Thank you for this opportunity. So much I was not aware of. I love this village. Would not want to leave here now. We came here in our 20s and are in our 70s. Myself came from Scotland and my husband Coventry. My family visit regularly and they love to come here and walk round. Proud to say I live here, and lucky.  Thank you to our Parish Council & Village Hall Committee & many other organisations who commit to making this a better village for everybody to enjoy  Thanking Parish Council for continued hard work they do for the village to make it better.  The destruction of the wood, too many people out of this area letting their dogs run riot, parking getting dangerous on Ferndale Craven Avenue, dogs should be kept on leads. Loutish behaviour by Convenience Store button of Woodlands Road, cars parked with local youths drinking, smoking, graffiti on walls. No neighbourly spirit. A sad resident who is selling up and leaving after 47 years as sick of life in Binley Woods.  The efforts of the Parish Council are very much appreciated.  The garages in Elm Close are a problem. They take up valuable space and are not fit for use.  The Parish Council is run by dedicated people who take an interest in the residents, but let's not change what is working well  The questions posed are based on a pre-conceived notion of what is important and what is achievable. I do not know what issues can be addressed by the plan or the cost associated with any change eg change to post code has been opposed on the basis that it will incur a cost but that cost is unknown.  Tidy front gardens - no old cars etc.  Tidy up disused property (Pope's garage, Oakdale Nursery in Brandon)  To retain the village character and we would also like to be incorporated into future village plans.  Try and keep the standard of the village as it is.  We are happy to be here.  We are looking forward to getting to know the village better over the next few months.

Binley Woods Parish Plan Main Questionnaire 8 Section H – And Finally…  We hope that our comments are relevant to the wonderful future of Binley Woods. The Parish Council always excels with imaginative and on-going improvements that always impact on the wellbeing of the whole of the Binley Woods community. Thank you for all the hard work involved with the design of the questionnaire.  We need a Christmas tree! This would provide a real 'heart' to the village at Christmas time (singing carols round the tree, etc). My suggestions would be either: o Some lovely lights in the oak tree outside the village hall. o A tree on the verge outside the Roseycombe. o A tree in the paved area outside the Village Hall. (I would be happy to contribute!)  We opposed neighbours extension and a parish plan that would have supported retaining space and woodland would have been very useful.  Well done to all who do the hard work for the village - we do appreciate it. PS Less street furniture (sign boards, etc).  When I came to the village with a young family, it was really a lovely place. I was away from my own family but soon became part of village life. After the children went to secondary school, I lost that a bit and missed it very much. Now I am back with taking grandchildren to school, that is back. I do feel strongly that it is a shame so many gated communities and houses are springing up. They don't know what they are missing. We should work hard to keep the village atmosphere alive by making that extra effort to get to know our neighbours.  Whoever failed to drain the land before building failed miserably.  Would enjoy more summer family themed events to bring the village together. Really enjoy open gardens, treasure hunt, barbeques, bonfire, etc.  Would love more flowers and new church (building).  Would prefer newcomers to the village to integrate with the village and residents, and not bring their own views and urban ways without consultation.  You are all doing a very good job. I am so glad that we in Binley Woods have people like yourselves who do this thankless job. From everyone in our house we say a big THANK YOU.
