July 2011 – July 2013 • Note: As a self-governed school principal I was in a sense a superintendent and principal • Prepared monthly board meeting agendas, designed budgets to support learning school. • Led recruitment and retention of 75 9th grade families to attend brand new high school in Detroit. • Positively executed the implementation of Johns Hopkins Talent Development reform model to using double dose remediation courses in Reading, math and Early Warning Indicator System for attendance, behavior and course performance. • Hosted Community Grade Conferences with members of the community to discuss progress, grades and goal setting for each individual student. • Team facilitated and balanced JHU, City Year, Communities in Schools and DPSCD professional developments as key driver to increase teacher performance and learner outcomes. • Co-devised marketing campaign which increased student enrollment from 75 students to 200 students in year two which led to ultimate merging of Northwestern into 545 students. • Used weekly student indicator as intervention to prevent drop-out and support graduation rates through an attendance, behavior and course performance team dashboard. • Implemented the Johns Hopkins Talent Development system of remediation for learning. • Won a National Search for school Principal.
