The water requirement is estimated to be around of 6 CMD.  Electric Supply: The power requirement for the project will be Nil.  Project Cost: The total cost of the project including all mandatory facilities is estimated to be INR 50 lakh  Soil Quality: The soils of Thane district can be conveniently divides into three categories. Block Soil containing sand, Red soil in the Eastern region mostly on the slopes and Brownish-black soil in the patches of the valleys mostly lying between the coastal plains and the hilly slopes of Sahayadri. The first type of soil, which is found in Dahanu, Palghar, Vasai and Thane tahsil, is fertile and useful for horticulture, Paddy cultivation and vegetables. Whereas, the second type which is found in Mokhada, Talasari and some parts of other tahsils on the Eastern slopes is useful for growing millets like Nagli and Vari. The third type of soil found in , Kalyan and Shahapur tahsils is useful, particularly for Paddy cultivation.  Meteorology: The climate of the district is distinctly different on the coastal plains and on the eastern slopes. Being fully tropical, the coastal strip including Thane, Vasai, Palghar and Dahanu tahsils is very humid and warm. On the other hand, the climate on the eastern slopes and in the plains at the foot of the slopes is comparatively less humid. However, variation in temperature in the eastern region is more than that on the coastal strip. The maximum temperature lies between 28.0°C to 35.2°C and the minimum temperature lies between 16.3°C to 26.5°C. The district gets assured rainfall of 2000 to 4000 mm. from the South-West monsoons during the months June to September. Generally highest rainfall is recorded in the month of July. It is considerably more inland than on the coast. It is also less towards the North than towards the South.  Ecology: There are no ecologically sensitive receptors or endangered species within the core and the buffer study area. Since no extra land will be acquired during the

2.0 PRE-FEASIBILITY REPORT

2.1 INTRODUCTION

Basalt commonly known as Deccan traps in western is mostly used as construction raw material and road material all over the state. The abundance of basalt and its consistently growing market demand has prompt the entrepreneur to apply for mining lease of the area. Darshana Enterprises of Shri. Mohan Sanjiv Shetty has applied a quarry lease for an area of 3.26 Ha in Survey No. 445, 456/1, 456/2 in Brahmangaon Village, Murbad Taluka, District Thane of Maharashtra state. Application was made an application to the District collector Thane. The proposed activity of mining will be carried out in private land. The proposed mining area falls in Zone – III as per the seismic zone map and falls in moderate damage risk zone. as per guidelines of IBM (Indian Bureau of Mines)

2.2 NEED OF THE PROJECT

The project proponent has proposed inclusion of Stone quarry in the mining lease as explorations have shown that these deposits occur in the subject lease area. The proposed production is covered under the Ministry of Environment & Forests Notification 2006. This report of Prefeasibility Report is given here as a part of the information to be furnished to the DEAC, Govt of Maharashtra for obtaining Environmental Clearance as per office Memorandum No. S.O.141 (E) dated 15.01.2016 .To meet the ever-increasing local demand for Crushed stone by the building industry and Construction Company the project proponent intends to produce the following quantities of excavated stones by Manual method of quarry activity. The year wise production and development details for the five years plan period are summarized in the Table 2.1.

2.3 DEMAND SUPPLY GAP

Since it is an allied industry of the construction sector, growth in construction sector may be considered as proxy for the growth in stone crushing sector, i.e. around 7-8%. Crushed stone has a very minor share among the exports of non-metallic mineral products of India. It is observed that total export volume of the crushed stone has been very low, whereas, Marble has the highest share and remained at the top. The market scope for crushed stone is found to be encouraging in local market with the increased demand from building industry & construction fields. There is also a sufficient demand from Govt. Contractors for laying of roads and construction of industries etc. The entry in the target market is easy and there is a narrow gap in the supply and demand, which is expected to grow in the coming years. The business opportunity to fill the demand and supply gap would be quite profitable.

2.4 EMPLOYMENT GENERATION

The establishment of this project will improve the socio-economic status of the surrounding area by way of direct & indirect employment. The Employment opportunity will be created for skilled and especially unskilled people. 9 people are working at project site both skilled and unskilled workers are included.

The following will be the manpower requirement: 1) Mine Foreman (Diploma in mining Certificate Holder)– 1 Nos 2) Mine Mate/Blaster – 1 Nos 3) Supervisor/ Clerk – 1 Nos 4) Skilled workers – 4 Nos 5) Unskilled workers- 2 Nos
