PAST POSITIONS

Fall 2011 Assistant Instructor for Dr. Christopher J. Bell, GEO 322V/389R: Morphology of the Vertebrate Skeleton, The University of Texas at Austin, Department of Geological Sciences I updated and coordinated all lab exercises using recent osteological collections, descriptions, publications, and images to facilitate broad knowledge of vertebrate skeletal morphology in articulation and isolation. I dissected and macerated recent turtle, lizard, and snake specimens for use as take-home study specimens.

Summer 2011 Research Assistant to Dr. Timothy Rowe, Vertebrate Preparatory Laboratory, The University of Texas at Austin I worked as curation and collection management staff in the fossil vertebrate collections, specifically preparing and cataloguing the WPA Howard County collection of Triassic vertebrate fossils and scanning and archiving WPA records of work in Howard and Borden counties for the VPL digital archives.

Spring 2011 Head Teaching Assistant for Dr. Christopher J. Bell, GEO 302M: Age of Mammals, The University of Texas at Austin, Department of Geological Sciences I developed and coordinated all lab exercises, emphasizing critical thinking, cladistics, bias, and evolutionary theory, I graded lab and lecture quizzes and lecture exams, and I was a temporary lecturer for one class period (see Invited Presentations and Guest Lectures below).

SOFTWARE PROFICIENCY

Phylogenetic Software: PAUP* 4.0b10, MacClade, Mesquite, MorphoBank I regularly use these programs for phylogenetic analyses and matrix construction. I am able to use PAUP* in GUI or command line mode. VG Studio Max 2.0 and 2.1 I use these programs to digitally isolate and examine morphological structures in fossil saurians. Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator I regularly use these programs to build figures for publications in peer-reviewed journals. Microsoft Office I am proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, and I have experience using Microsoft Access for cataloguing fossil specimens. Endnote X2 I have used this program to maintain a digital database of publications and references.
