“We the People with Voices Sing!” OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO “We the People With Voices Sing!” Singers in Accord and Angela Saturday Broeker will present a wonderful April 25 & spring program filled with traditional American tunes by Sunday American composers with music April 26, 2015 from Sacred Harp, Appalachian, and African-American traditions. University of St. Thomas Chapel of St. Thomas Aquinas Highlights will include settings of (2115 Summit Ave, St. Paul, MN 55105) beloved melodies such as Shenandoah, Amazing Grace, and Down in the River to Pray, accompanied by piano, violin, saxophone, and bluegrass band! Singers in Accord will also welcome ComMUSICation, a community children’s choir hosted by St. Paul City School, whose mission is to empower youth with lifelong skills Spring 2015 through choir and building Concert community. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Thank you Dr. Karle Erickson As we celebrate the first 5 years of making music as Singers in Accord, we’d like to express our deepest gratitude for Dr. Karle Er- ickson, without whose encouragement and support SIA would not exist. Many of the current singers in SIA sang together in a choral ensemble called World Voices whose mission was to enhance the awareness and deepen the meaning of the cultural, spiritual and religious roots of music from around the world. Karle founded and directed the artistic vision of World Voices from 1996-2009. The choral experience in World Voices was very special and unique, so when the ensemble ended in 2009, many of the singers felt com- pelled to find a way to continue to sing together. With Karle’s en- couragement, this group of singers formed a board of directors and assumed leadership of the non-profit corporation, and Singers in Accord was born. While the artistic and organizational model changed, the focus on choral excellence and artistic collabo- rations did not. Karle has touched thousands of voices during his distinguished 60-year career, as a college pro- fessor, choral director, and clinician, and has been honored with a lifetime achievement award by the Minnesota chapter of the American Choral Directors Association. We are grateful to Karle for his artistic vision and the standard of choral excellence that he instilled in all of us that were fortunate to sing under his baton. Singers in Accord is uniquely structured as a singer-led organization, dedicated to enriching lives and building community through the power of choral music. The 50-voice auditioned chorale collaborates with a new conductor, performing artist, Singers In Accord at the Minnesota ACDA Conference or artistic ensemble in each concert, to create distinctive concert experiences for its singers and audience members. Singers in Accord strives to enrich the cultural life of Choral Kaleidoscope Minnesota communities through outreach, education, and innovative performances. presented by Singers in Accord It is a 501(C) (3) nonprofit corporation that does not employ paid staff. Only in Minnesota, the Land of 10,000 choirs, could a group like Singers in Accord even exist. Here, a group of singers is able to organize themselves into an ensemble and collaborate with such an incredible group of conductors as we have with us today. Through our past collaborations, they have become part He Will See You Through of our community as our teachers, our musical mentors, and our friends, as we together explore the rich David Blakely/arranged by J.D. Steele traditions of choral art. “He Will See You Through” was written for The Steeles when they were singing as a family growing up in Gary, Indiana. Singers in Accord is the only group that has performed this song other than The Steeles. Likewise our ensemble could not have developed without our loyal audience. You are our friends, family, co-workers, and fellow lovers of choral music, who offer us wonderful support and encourage- ment as our organization continues to grow and evolve. We are grateful that you are with us today. MCA 700 Discography by David Edwards, Mike Callahan & Patrice Eyries © 2018 by Mike Callahan MCA-700 Midline/Reissue Series: By the time the reissue series reached MCA-700, most of the ABC reissues had been accomplished in the MCA 500-600s. MCA decided that when full price albums were converted to midline prices, the albums needed a new number altogether rather than just making the administrative change. In this series, we get reissues of many MCA albums that were only one to three years old, as well as a lot of Decca reissues. Rather than pay the price for new covers and labels, most of these were just stamped with the new numbers in gold ink on the front covers, with the same jackets and labels with the old catalog numbers. Filed 12/7/15 Certified for Publication 12/22/15 (order attached) IN THE COURT OF APPEAL OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA FOURTH APPELLATE DISTRICT DIVISION THREE THE PEOPLE, Plaintiff and Respondent, G050444 v. (Super. Ct. No. 13CF1958) RAPHAEL JARED SCALLY, O P I N I O N Defendant and Appellant. Appeal from a judgment of the Superior Court of Orange County, Michael J. Cassidy, Judge. Affirmed. David R. Greifinger, under appointment by the Court of Appeal, for Defendant and Appellant. Kamala D. Harris, Attorney General, Gerald A. Engler, Chief Assistant Attorney General, Julie L. Garland, Assistant Attorney General, Charles C. Ragland and Marvin E. Mizell, Deputy Attorneys General, for Plaintiff and Respondent. * * * The jury found defendant guilty of one count of pimping (Pen. Code, § 266h, subd. (a)) and one count of pandering (Pen. Code, § 266i, subd. (a)). The court held a bench trial and found it to be true that defendant committed the offenses while out on bail. (Pen. Code, § 12022.1, subd. (b).) The court sentenced defendant to the midterm of four years on the pimping count, stayed imposition of the sentence on the pandering count, and imposed, but stayed, a two year on-bail enhancement. On appeal, defendant raises a single issue: that the court erred by permitting the People’s expert to testify that certain text messages sent from defendant to individuals other than the particular prostitute at issue were consistent with pimping activity. Defendant contends this was improper character evidence under Evidence Code section 1101. We conclude the evidence was relevant to rebut the defense that the prostitute was merely defendant’s girlfriend — a nonpropensity basis for relevance — and thus we affirm.
